Offsite restaurants near WDW?

Not sure if this is a good place to ask this, but figure it's probably mostly people who stay off property here who might know.

I'm actually staying on property, but will have a car. After looking at the WDW menu prices, I'm thinking I may venture outside the World for some meals. I can't justify paying $30 for a dinner at a WDW restaurant that I could get for half the price (or less) by driving 10-15 mins. Plus when on vacation I like a "proper" breakfast, and there are very few options at WDW, and the TS restaurant at my resort isn't even open for breakfast!

So I'm wondering if there is a website or list somewhere that will give me restaurants that are near property. Like at the Crossroads shopping center, Irlo Bronson Highway near the property entrance, etc. A listing by distance would be nice.

I know there are Yellow Pages sites that list by distance, but sometimes you put in "restaurants" and you don't get all restaurants because their listing is in a different section. Does anyone know of anything better?

TIA

Route 192 has about every chain restaurants you've ever heard of. We're thinking of doing the same for a couple meals during our trip. :)

I actually went to Mapquest and put in the address of our resort and clicked the restaurant tab. It was very helpful!

535 north and south of the Crossroads also has plenty of options. Our favorite is Giordano's. There is also just about every chain that exists. The IHOP there would be good for breakfast, there is also a Wafflehouse. If you like buffet there is a Golden Coral and a CiCi's pizza (we avoid both). Vallarta Mexican grill is also very good.

I would highly recommend the Bonefish Grill, which is located at 7830 W Sand Lake Rd. It's a bit farther away from WDW, however it's worth the drive and their prices are very reasonable.

Our recent trip was a bust due to the whole family coming down with the flu, however I did want to share a restaurant we really enjoyed. We ate at Bob Evans our first night after a long day of traveling and I highly recommend it. It's on US 192 & State Rt. 535. We actually ate there for dinner, but dh had a breakfast plate with pancakes and sausage links. Three of my four kids, ate a kids breakfast plate with pancakes. My oldest ds had the kids mini burgers (with an additional added for a $.99 charge). I had the grilled chicken and corn. Our bill was $27! We thought this was a great price for our family of 6! The service was a bit slow, but the food was great!

Simply one choice...Sand Lake Road...plenty of choice along there and you'll have a great meal. If you come out of the Crossroads entrance by Downtown Disney, turn left and head north for about 4 miles...Sand Lake Road is on the right and is known locally as restaurant row.

The only problem with Sand Lake Rd is that it can have brutal traffic between I4 and Universal Blvd, even as far as Kirkman Rd. This includes the International Drive intersection. I would not recommend going to this area in the evenings after say 6:00. It could take a long time to navigate only a short distance. I would be willing to bet that many locals avoid this area like the plague.

The lake Buena Vista area and Sand lake rd and International Drive must have hundreds of restaurants to choose from. You'll also find a couple decent places on 192.

Why would you go on I4 from Disney? You don't need to. Just take Apopka Vineland Rd/Sr535. It takes us about 20 minutes from the vacation home we stay in about 5 miles south of US 192 and from Downtown Disney area you can be there in about 10 mins.

I wasn't indicating taking I4 to get there. Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake Rd or 535 would be far better. However the traffic on Sand Lake Rd between I4 and Kirkman road is brutal during the evening hours with everyone returning from the parks and looking for places to visit, eat, and returning to their hotels. The only place in Orlando with worse traffic at that time would be International Drive in the same area.

I4 though would probably be faster than either route I mentioned.

Does anyone know about Orlando Alehouse?? Trying to determine it if is "kid-friendly"??
Thanks

I've never been to any resturant around disney that wasn't kid friendly, even the high end places.

Sand Lake Road, where all the restaurants are, doesnt intersect Kirkman.

If you take I-4, exit on Sand Lake Road and turn left, the restaurants will be on either side of the road. Or you can go the Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake Road way as well.

Locals frequent restaurant row...well...frequently.

I have to agree with above about Gioradanos Pizza is our favorite stomping ground . as well as denny's, waffel house , perkins, and my fav is Cracker Barel.

Celebration has a couple nice restaurants & it is a pretty area to drive around and get away from the mass of tourists.

Some of our friends introduced us to Orlando's Miller's Alehouse in October and it was fabulous. Huge portions, very reasonable prices, and yes it's kid friendly. We do not have any kids, but we took my brothers kids (10&7) and they loved it as well. We will make it a point to eat at the Alehouse on every trip to the Orlando area from now on. For those that don't know, The Alehouse is close to DTD.
