Was just about ready to make reservation for trip next summer, when DH innocently asked:

"...does the hotel have an in-room safe?":scared1:

it never occured to me that they don't ALL have them; didn't take into account that many of the Harbor Blvd hotels are vintage.

guess it's back to the drawing board & to recheck each hotel to see if they offer them, since we don't want to fuss with a box @ the desk.

anyone remember if their last hotel offered it?;)

Howard Johnsons - We had a 2 queen room and the safe was between the beds built in to the nightstand. You just program in your own code and away you go.

thanks - this was one of the hotels I couldn't find the info listed on their website:thumbsup2

We had one in our premium room at CCI. I was able to stuff my laptop bag and several other items in it.

I was surprised when we stayed at the Residence Inn and they didn't have one. I'm looking into Carousel Inn & Suites and their site says they have in-room safes.

The Del Sol Inn has a large one. The standard room at CCI does not have a safe. That is what we stayed in last time. I don't remember them at BWPPI or Desert Inn.

thanks for the info, think i'm going to try & find copy of AAA travel guide for California (know i've got one somewhere lol)...assume it'd have the info listed under amenties.

imo, it is a necessity; no way am i going to lug around all our CCs/cash/ids etc.

if i find it, i'll post back...jik anyone else is interested.

I think most hotels have safe deposit drawers in their lobbies. We've used them at HoJos, Fairfield Inn and what used to be the Saga Inn on Harbor Blvd. I don't think they're big enough for a Laptop, but plenty big for my wallet and smaller items.

They're not as convenient as having one in your room, but it worked fine for us.
