I need some names of offsite hotels - we are getting in really late and I can't see spending Saturday nights points just for the bed so we are checking in on Sunday...... thanks in advance!

What $$$$ are you looking for? I have the Unofficial Guide here and it lists a bazillion of them by $$ and their quality rating. Haven't sayed in them, though. You may also want to check the other baords here on Hotels.....

Cypress Pointe get good reviews (timeshare not hotel - but you can get a nightly rate)
www.hotelkingdom.com

Buena Vista Suites gets fair ones

Embassy Suites hotel
fairfield Inn at Marriott Village
Holiday Inn - Sunspree
Sheraton Safari hotel
radisson Inn
Sheraton Vistana Resort (another timeshare)
Sierra Suites hotel-lake buena vista
springhill suites at Marriott Village
Marriott world center
Gaylord

the last 2 are expensive

I mentioned them because some people have gotten them on priceline.

for one night I might take a chance with priceline

there is a review on Comfort INN in LBV on the Orlando resort and attraction boards.

We've stayed at the Gaylord Palms a few times. I've often picked up a great rate on expedia for the one night. The place is gorgeous.

Easier to stay in a moderate resort on property or stay off? I can book Caribbean beach for $155.00 without the discount..... :wizard:

if you are using DME (disney magical express) to get back and forth to the airport, staying onsite is a must. Otherwise you need a rental car for the days offsite.

if you are not - your choice.

staying onsite means that Disney can move your luggage. but I generally have my own car - so I pack a small bag for my one nighters and leave the rest of the luggage in the car. So this benefit is not that great for me.

Do you want to visit the parks those days? would you like to be able to have the extra magical hours?
If yes then stay onsite.

If no - then I might be tempted to save money and stay offsite.

We stayed at the Country Inn and Suites when we came in a day early. I think we paid 69/night for that room. It was 2 miles from the DTD main gate area.

i would book a nite at Pop, and do a luggage transfer the next day while you hit the parks. that's what we do. even though we rent a car i don't like leaving my luggage in it.

We usually arrive late since we are flying from California. We have stayed at the Embassy Suites LBV, Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites, and Doubletree Guest Suites. All of these except Doubltree include breakfast (book the Doubletree through Mousesavers.com for a free breakfast) and all are suites except for Hampton Inn. We have also stayed onsite at a value or moderate, but those rooms are too small for me to share with my two teens now.
