Okay,

I'm not sure if this is better here or on the transportation board.....so mods if I put it in the wrong place, please move it.

We are flying into MCO Friday night and I was thinking that we would stay over at an airport hotel and take advantage of the shuttle from the airport. We would go back to the Airport Saturday morning and pick up the rental car. I didn't think it made much sense to spend more money to pick up the car and having it sitting the parking lot Friday night, since we won't be doing anything because we are getting in late.

Now I have been thinking, with seeing some people mention about picking up their rental car at their hotel. So I was wondering if there are any hotels that offer shuttle service from MCO and have Car Rental places in the hotel. I would prefer a National car rental place, but could be open to using just about any brand of car rental.

So are there any hotels like this?

the shuttles go to the airport.

even the shuttles that will pick you up at your hotel. I haven't seen any shuttles that go elsewhere.

Dollar at the airport says that they will do this.

Check the rates. If your total stay is just under a week you may not be saving any money by picking up your car the next morning. There is frequently no rate difference between 5 (or 6) days and 7 (a full week).

Thrifty is offsite, near many of the MCO hotels but taking the hotel shuttle back to MCO is the easiest solution.

I did check the rate and there is about a 50+ dollar difference if we pick it up that night.

I was not looking for hotels near car rental places, but hotels that have a shuttle from the airport as well as a car rental place in their lobby. I know that you can rent a car from the Swan and Dolphin, so something like that with airport access.

You could book a Disney value and take DME otherwise the only hotels that offer complimentary airport shuttles are the hotels in the vicinity of the airport. I don't think any of those hotels have a rental desk. It really wouldn't make much sense since those hotels are only a 5 minute shuttle ride from MCO. Hertz has a desk in most of the Marriott's, but not the one by the airport.

If this is a "trick question" the Hyatt hotel in the airport has all the rental car desks two floors below the entrance.

There are actually some hotels on teh north side of the eirport that have rental car desks, but I do'nt believe that they keep the cars on property, so it would probably not be a time saver.

For all the shuffling around you'll be doing, I think I'd just eat the $50 and pick up the car the night you arrive. I can't imagine moving your party and it's luggage from the airport to a motel, then back to the airport, unload again and schlepp it all downstairs (you'll be dropped off at departures) and then schlepp it out to the parking garage to get your car--just not worth it--not to mention you'll be expected to tip the shuttle driver $1 for each peice of baggage in both directions--that could substantially eat up a good deal of your savings.

Thrifty and Hertz are N of the airport near many of the airport hotels. You can probably tip the hotel shuttle driver to drop you off at either (or call and see if the rental agency will send a shuttle). Just pick up the car and drive back to the hotel to get your luggage. I'll agree with Anne, if you have a lot of luggage taking the luggage back to MCO and finding your way to the garage can be a PITA. If you want to save the $50, and have a lot of luggage, consider driving back to the airport hotel to get your stuff.

Me too---you'll be starting your "first day" quite a bit later (or you'll be getting up quite a bit earlier.)
