Offsite guests at MK morning EMH

Today was my first experience with morning EMH, curious how they check who is onsite and who is off. No one asked us, we just went in and scanned our bands. It just seemed like a regular morning. A regular very crowded morning.
For Magic Kingdom, they do not check to see if Guests are EMH eligible AT MK because Guests are "checked" at TTC or they have arrived on the WDW Resort buses.

For the other 3 Parks, there are CMs before the tapstiles with tablets that check Guests.:)

I understand that but what about when there aren't emh and now on site and off site guests are both accumulating outside the gates? What about the people who are trying to get inside for a pre opening dining reservation or maybe even a tour? I see no difference there.

If someone is not eligible to be in the park at a certain time, they shouldn't be making ADRs for that time frame. For example say the Magic Kingdom has Extra Magic Hours from 8 am until 9 am. An off site guest will not be eligible to make an ADR between 8 am and 9 am. The park is still closed to them.

I think it makes perfect sense to not allow guests who can't even get into the park from blocking the bag checks and touch points for guests are are eligible to be in the parks. There is not enough space right outside of MK to hold that many guests without them being in the way. Holding them at the TTC makes perfect sense.

Sorry but you are incorrect. Off site guests CAN make PPO ADRs, whether the park has morning EMH or not. Altough why offsite guests would want to go to a morning EMH park is beyond my understanding. The only ADRs that have restrictions are those on party nights - no party ticket, no ADR.

Truly? If you are not supposed to be in the park how can you eat in the park?

Probably because Disney is taking in cash for an overpriced breakfast. The guests are sitting in a restaurant, not running from attraction to attraction during EMH. The only exception might be a few BOG breakfasters who finish early enough to get in one ride before they open for regular hours.

But, again, I don't know how big a deal this is - how many offsite guests are really unwise enough to choose to go to an EMH park? Only those that have done little or no advance research, I think.

How do they get through the turnstile without scanning their MB?

You do scan your MB, if you have one. There is a special line reserved for guests with pre opening ADRs and Tours. If you don't have a magic band, bring your confirmation number. That turnstile is manned by CMs just for that reason.

Yup, just did this. When you approach gates there were CMs holding up signs for dining reservations. Before they let me approach the gate to scan they first scanned my MB to make sure I had an ADR, checked it on their iPad and the number with me (just two of us). We then scanned the specific gates and got in that way.

PS I had to ride a bus from TTC over because no Ferry or Monorail was operating yet.

Because EMH are specifically designed to give onsite guests extra access to some (not all) rides and attractions. Someone who has an ADR is not going to be allowed to get on Space Mountain.

If you want to go further with your post "if you aren't supposed to be in the park, how can you eat in the park" -- it could be argued that even on site guests shouldn't be allowed to have pre-park opening ADRs, becvause the park isn't technically open.

The bottom line is Disney says it's okay for offsite guests to have ADRs even on EMH mornings, so it's okay. They get to make the rules, it's not determined by a vote of the park guests.

I wasn't voting. I didn't know. Which is kind of the purpose of being on these boards, to learn and share info, right?

See, the thing with the ADRs is this: if *ANYONE* booking a breakfast at 180 days sees, for example, a CRT available for 8:15am, it is available to them, no matter where they have laid their head the night before. When you book a breakfast in a park, you are not asked if you are an onsite hotel guest. The only thing you are required to have is a park admission ticket that is valid both for the day of the reservation, and, if applicable, the park (for a one-day ticket holder).

- Offsite guests are permitted to stay in the park for night EMH, they just can't enjoy the attractions (MB won't scan them in).
- Offsite guests are permitted to shop, eat QS, eat snacks and enjoy TS dining during evening EMH.
- For morning EMH, an offsite guest will need to scan their MB with a CM to verify they have an ADR and the number of folks with them.
- If you have an ADR, if you don't show up you will be charged $10 each so likely you will show up and not wander.
- Not showing up only allows you to spend money or walk about, no attractions.
- I think there is the general assumption that TS meals take on average an hour plus. BOG breakfast is an exception because it's ADR only.
- So logically and economically all those with ADRs will show up, will eat their meals and essentially be done their meal when or after the park officially opens.
- On site guests still get all the attractions to themselves which is the actual point of EMH.

- EMH being utilized by onsite guests for shorter lines for attractions make Disney virtually zero money.
- Letting offsite guests in park during EMH to spend money in restaurants and shops and kiosks because they can't go on attractions makes Disney money.
- The smart financial move is exactly what they are doing.
