What are some of the best restaurants within a short cab ride from Downtown Disney?

Our favorite place is Sweet Tomatoes. There is one in the Crossroads shopping center right across 535 from the DTD hotel strip. It is a wonderful and affordable buffet that has every imaginable salad fixing as well as prepared salads. There is also a pasta station, potato station with toppings, soup station with half a dozen homemade soups, fresh baked breads and dessert bar. I think it is $8.69 per person which is a great value.

As for sit-down restaurants, that shopping center also has a Tex-Mex place, a Bahama Breeze and a couple of others. For counter service or quick serve, there is a Flipper's pizza and they are building a Moe's (counter service Mexican - very tasty and healthy - not Taco Bell garbage). There is a Perkins down the street to the left also and a Waffle House to the right. Those are probably the closest options.

There's an Olive Garden and a Denny's next to the Perkins on 535. There's a Shoney's and Joe's Crab Shack across the street. Personally, I love the Flipper's Pizzeria. There's also a TGI Friday's right there at Crossroads by the Flipper's.

What are some of the best restaurants within a short cab ride from Downtown Disney?

By "best", I assume you don't mean cheap and filling?

The BEST restaurants can be found on Sand Lake Rd, about 10 miles north of Downtown Disney. These include Seasons 52, Bonefish Grill, Roys, Ocean Prime and Ruth's Chris.

There are also some very good restaurants on I-Drive, about the same distance away: http://www.iridetrolley.com/pdf/marker-map.pdf These include The Oceanaire Seafood Room, Capital Grille and Bahama Breeze (although there is another one closer to DTD). Also closer to DTD is the Venetian Room, but this is a special occasion restaurant.

We LOVE Giordano's pizza!!! You can even get a gift cert from restaurant.com for CHEAP. We paid $2 for a $25. Last year we were at the wrong restaurant location and they still took said. Said sure no big deal.
