Ok i'm officially scared of Cap'n Jacks....I thought we'd try it for the Margarita's especially, and because we are in Down Town that afternoon and then headed to Pleasure Island afterword, but the reviews for CJ's are getting WORSE! I wanted to try it for ourselves and make a decision NOT based on what everyone else says, but can SO many people with the same opinion be wrong??

I was thinking Whispering Canyon Cafe or perhaps Spoodles instead....any opinions, suggestions on that? We are a couple of meat and potatoes, unadventureous kind of eaters on our honeymoon.
TIA!! :flower3:

Take a look at Spoodles - we LOVE it! The Boardwalk atmosphere can't be beat. The food is excellent and the Sangria is to die for!:thumbsup2

What is up with being scared of Cap'n Jacks?????????

My DW and DD and I LOVED it! We were on the dining plan and we had our best "bang for the buck" there!

As seafood lovers, we found the appetizers of crab cakes (me) and shrimp cocktail (DW) to be superb. Tastiest crab cakes I've ever had (and I've had alot of 'em!) and the shrimp was perfect...cold, crisp, big with just the perfect tangyness to the sauce.

I had the twin lobster tails (at $31.99 they just about paid for the day's dining plan cost all by themselves!!!) and they were flawless. DW had the shrimp pasta and loved it. DD had fried shrimp and devoured them.

We all then had the chocolate lava cake for dessert and it was divine!

Great window seat overlooking the water too! Terrific service!

What is people's problem with this restaurant???????

Go there, try it! I guess if people like Dennys or McDonalds, they're not going to like Cap'n Jacks. If people like great seafood in a fun themed restaurant...well, that's it!

How long ago was this when ya'll went? I was looking on the menus at allears and did not see fried shrimp. Was it on the kids menu or adults? We are planning on trying CJ in May.

Thanks

Cap'n Jacks is an overpriced red lobster in our book....some people like that kind of food...but i avoid frozen fish when possible...(I dont trust the Gordon’s fisherman)...
WCC is very much a family place...but its always fun even for a couple...the food is slipping...but i still suggest it....
I dont do spoodles...well because i lived in Italy and dont like American Italian. …my opinion is worthless on that one...

CJ is gross! Spoodles offers Med.food and it pretty good and whispering canyon has a little bit of everything. Since you are meat and potato people you might like wc better but since it is your honeymoon spoodles might be a little more romantic. you can always try one for dinner and one for lunch.

We liked Cap'n Jacks when we ate there last August. I'm not sure I'd make a special trip to DTD just to eat there, but if we were already planning on being down there, we'd definitely eat there again. For our dining review of CJ's (with pics), click here ----> clicky clicky

Love Spoodles. :goodvibes The menu has changed since we were there, but we still can't wait to go again. Service, atmosphere and food quality were outstanding.

is the lobster any better at narcossee's than here? i just want lobster, and i hate to spend two credits...

capt'n jacks HAS no theming...its just a dirty old fish house. not very disney. I was afraid to touch anything I am a meat and potatoes kinda girl, and didnt like it. I will say we are very excited to try WCC on our next trip, though! (we are contemplating spoodles but i was recently informed the steak is no longer on the menu, so now I dont know :confused3 )

my DH had the lobster at narcoossees and loved it. you can read my dining reviews in my siggy

Completely agree!!! We ate there for lunch on our honeymoon & it was GREAT!!! I'd love to eat there this time, but they can't accomodate a party of 7 unless they split us up. :(

A coworker of mine keeps asking if I've tried CJ yet because he loves it. Should we risk it? I'm NOT a seafood person at all, but DF is.
