Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

I don't think it really matters. I have both and I haven't played the second one yet, but I can't imagine playing the second one without the first is that big of a deal.

I would suggest everyone play the first one first, if they can, but I wouldn't return the 2nd one if that's what you got.

Most (if not all of the reviews) here are for 1 because it's been out longer and no one has played 2 cuz we're saving it for christmas.

As mentioned, I haven't seen either Rayman or Rayman II, but from the "expert" reviews I've seen, it seems that the original has a better review because it involves a storyline? Something about getting Rayman from one point to another throught the mini-games and that it's fun as a single player game as well as a group game.

The knock on the Rayman II that I've seen is that the storyline is gone and it's just a bunch of mini-games that are super for parties/multiplayer gaming, but not enjoyable/boring as a single player game. Since I bought it for the multiplayer gaming, I think I'll keep it.

Judging from the mini games in the first games, I would probably pick it as a multiplayer game over just about any other one out there. SO I think you'll be good to go.

I'll try and open it up in the next day or 2 so I can tell you first hand how I feel about it. So check back, K? I wasn't going to play it til I beat the first one, but I'll do anything for you guys! :flower3: :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

I have a question but I'm not exactly sure what it is :rotfl:

Some time back there was a post asking about trying the Wii out before Christmas. I think Harleyquinn suggested you do so because it sometimes takes something a while to sync? Does anyone remember/know what I'm talking about?

We had already tried the Wii out when I read that late one night and when I asked DH about it he said he didn't sync anything up. We didn't have a lot of time so did we not do something we should have before Christmas? We were able to play the sports game that comes with it.

I can't talk to an LSU fan.

Just kidding :teeth:

Anyway, when we got ours, we had to sync our 2nd controller and it was a huge pain. I remember that we did something wrong to start and it was a mess. But I don't think you have to sync a 2nd controller all the time and we actually unsynced it or something.

The point was that if DH and I could mess it up, then anyone can and it's best to try before the big day!

So ask if he tried the 2nd controller (if you have one).

Go Bucs! :teeth:

Do you mean the remote or controller like the Game Cube controller?

So is everyone pretty set for the big day? Anyone still looking for anything?

I keep seeing a Wiimote Sensor Bar in the ads. What is it? And do I need it right away??

FYI - anyone looking for the NYKO charger, Circuit City has it in the their ad this week, $24.99. I'm going to get Best Buy to price match since I'm already headed there today for PoTC At World's End pirate: with the BB exclusive bonus DVD :woohoo:

Hi. I have a few questions, if they are repeats I apologize.

We are giving this to our 4 kids for christmas g 13, b 10, b almost 4, & b almost 4. But really it is for the older 2.
We already bought Wii Play, Harry Potter oop, rayman, zak & wiki, shrek 3, and super mario galaxy.
Are there any games for the almost four year olds that we should get? They have not played any games before.
Also we have the PS2 my husband enjoys call of duty, medal of honor etc... He asked for Call of Duty 4 but I don't see where it is for either the Wii or PS2 am I missing something? Is Medal of Honor Heroes good? Are there any good Wii games along these lines that I could get him?
Also what would be a good racing game for the 10 yo boy? We also got him a star wars lego game for ps2 should we exchange it for the wii saga one?

Thank you very much!

I picked up some of the Sanyo Eneloop rechargable batteries from Circuit City (8 AA batteries for $14.96) and a Sanyo charger/battery kit off Amazon. Supposedly, these batteries can be charged 1,000 times and will "lose only 10 percent of its charge over 6 months and 15 percent over a year, according to Sanyo. An equivalent NiMH rechargeable from Sanyo loses 28 percent and 36 percent of its charge, respectively, over the same period".

I'm not a CostCo member, but I guess they had a Sanyo Eneloop charger kit with 8 AA's and 4 AAA's for $20 after $5 rebate.

It comes with the system. No worries.

Are there any games for the almost four year olds that we should get? They have not played any games before. I don't think there is anything a 4 yo needs to have. You've got a couple of things they can play until they are old enough to want their own thing.
Also we have the PS2 my husband enjoys call of duty, medal of honor etc... He asked for Call of Duty 4 but I don't see where it is for either the Wii or PS2 am I missing something? There is a COD 4 for the Wii. Not sure about PS2, but I think it came out for that and not the PS3. So yes, I think it's out for bothIs Medal of Honor Heroes good? Yes, it's gotten good reviews. http://wii.ign.com Are there any good Wii games along these lines that I could get him? Not to my knowledge besides Call of Duty 4, but I think that would be more than enough for a little while. Maybe my DH knows something else
Also what would be a good racing game for the 10 yo boy? For a racing game I would probably wait so you can get Mario Kart. It's the best racing game and your whole family would enjoy it. If you can't wait (it won't be out for a while)...I'll have to look around. I'm not a big racing game person. They cost too much for what they are. We also got him a star wars lego game for ps2 should we exchange it for the wii saga one?Has he played any of the old Lego SW games? I would probably return it, since the Wii has the unique ability to use the wiimote as a light saber--so much more fun that way.

Thank you very much!

You're welcome! :teeth:

K I was wrong.

Call of Duty 3 is on the Wii, but not 4. Call of Duty 5 is being worked on now, but won't be out for a while.

I was thinking of Medal of Honor. It's another one of the war games. SO maybe that's a possibility.

Apparently Cruis'n was just released for the Wii. It's like my favorite old school racing game, but I don't know much about this version.

Excite Truck is a fun racing game that came out at launch so you may be able to find it cheap.

There are more details on http://wii.ign.com

If you go to the Game Profiles section on ign, you can find a list of racing games. Need for Speed is a good series. IGN only gave it a 6.2.

You can also look through the 'shooters' which Call of Duty and Metal of Honor are. Just make sure you look at the war games not all the other kinds of shooters.

FYI...if someone's looking...Today I saw Call of Duty 3 for Wii in a "bargain bin" at my local Wal-mart for $25. The bin was in the middle of the main aisle at the end the video game aisle. They also had Pirates of the Carribean and Pool Party for $25.

OMG Wii Fit looks sooo cool!!!

You have to check this out:

This does look very cool!:thumbsup2

Is the Toys R US deal "buy Super Mario Galaxy, get another Wii game for 50% off" a good one or am I likely to find something better?

We just got our hands on a Wii and I've purchased the second remote with Wiiplay and the nunchuck.
