Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread-Part 2

LAst corral or possibly one ahead. Can you find a Christmas 10k? If you can, then bring proof for a new placement.

Looks like the only local races between now and Disney are 5ks, with the exception of a 1/2 marathon this weekend. I could possibly do that one since it's only 1 mile further than my planned run for this weekend. So my question is before I do it, if I do finish in say 2:15, will that guarantee I'll be moved up from my current projected corral placement?

If you finish in 2:15, you will definitely move up in corral placement. Probably to "C" depending upon the number of runners per corral, etc

So, I ended up deferring the Marathon as I just wasn't ready. I had a big opportunity to go to grad school, and that took priority over the Marathon. I registered for the Princess, deferred my Marathon, and got my entry fee less $35 dollars put back into my account. Exactly what I expected.

A few days later, I got an email from a different runDisney email address that they needed the form for me to defer. Well, I had already done the form they emailed me, and everything had gone through, so I didn't think twice about it.

Then I wondered if they actually canceled my registration, since it would be weird to them to say it was "pending" when I even had my money back. Sure enough, I have a waiver and Bib # 12064 for the Marathon.

Do you think they made a mistake and didn't cancel me? Would I be able to pick up the Bib? I have no idea what I would do with it since I'm still not ready for a Marathon, except maybe hand the shirt off to my SIL who is running so she'll have a spare. The thought crossed my mind to get the bib and try it anyway even though I'm only up to 14 miles in training, lol.

Corral D for me in the Half! #47984

Corral C for my husband in the Full #3476 (missed B by 1 number)

So now that I know I'm officially in the last corral, how difficult will it be to maintain a 10 minute pass as I navigate through slower runners/walkers? Is the course wide enough that it's not too difficult to get around people?

After the first 1-2 miles, you should be able to find some room to settle into your pace.

Is it not possible to run a 10k for proof of time? Not only is it going to be difficult for you, but us slower runners hate feeling like we're being run over just as much as you faster runners hate having to dodge us. :)
