I booked months ago, but upgraded to a GTY 5E on Jan 16th, which was 51 days out.

You probably booked it as a VGT. That and IGT and OGT do not issue when the original GTYs do. Yours can be as late as the day of the cruise.

No, it's not a VGT, although that would have been nice. It's definitely a GTY at a GTY price. Our cruise is pretty booked up, when I checked last night, there were only Balcony cabins available for parties of 4. I don't think DCL will be offering any IGT, OGT or VGT rates, but I guess they could last minute.

I stayed in the twin room of that one (8184) on a past cruise. Those two rooms are truly the best on the ship! View of the aft and port or starboard. The verandah was 42 steps long, wrapped around side to back!!!

How did you book a GTY 5A and get a 5B? I thought you would minimally get the 5A.

They said they got a 4B, not 5B (and, checking, rm# 8008 on the Magic is, indeed, a category 4B).

ETA: We were assigned 2086. It was a noisy room. Nice location, we enjoyed the window (always have had a balcony before, so this was new to us), however we heard a clanging/chain type noise when we were moving. It was particularly loud when the ship was really rocking. It was not constant, but enough to be annoying when trying to relax on a sea day in the room. Just an fyi, in case someone is assigned this room.
