Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

Wow, steep prices for the value resorts. But, March is definitely not value season so I should have expected it. DH and I will have to start saving the pennies. :)

does that mean there will be transporation from all of those resorts to the race?

AP discount has been blocked from weekends, so don't expext them to be allowed for the Princess weekend.

I am planning on running the Princess 1/2. It will be my first race of any kind and I am excited and nervous. I have a question about booking. I want to get my hotel booked so I get one at the discounted price. But they haven't posted the ticket discounts. Should I book my hotel now and add the tickets later? Thank you, Robin

I'm excited that they posted the rates finally, but with the cost I'm hoping I'm still going to be able to do it. I was going to do this as a solo weekend trip, but $330 for the room for just the weekend is a bit high for me by myself. With airfare from CT, I'll be looking at $600 minimum.

I'll have to put some thought into this.

Robin,

Last year I booked the room and didn't buy the tickets until a few days before I left. It may be best to book for the room now and see what kind of packages are released closer to the race (like the buy4get3 deal).

With those prices I think that a lot of pepole will be stating off site.

I actually stayed off site this year, but that was because Mom wanted to go and she paid for the place and played chauffer for the whole trip. The only thing I would do differently is get 2 rental cars. It would have been nice to not be depending on her for driving everywhere.

Okay, I finally have time.

I'm Kat, 33, and I belong to the same group with 3DisKids and the rest. We met on another WISH thread well over a year ago, and have become IRL friends. This is actually all a conspiracy on their part to get another tiara on my head! ;)

I am not a runner, but am hoping to at least not get swept!

I will likely be driving down, so can maybe help out with transportation on race day?

Maybe someone who drove themselves to the race last year can help. Was it hard to get there in the morning with road closures and traffic near the starting point? With these prices I am thinking of staying offsite or Shades of Green and driving myself. i am just worried about getting caught up in road closures and missing the race!

We drove in, but we forgot to put the clock forward so I was running really late!!!!
There was a line trying to get into Epcot, but that was it, no problems with road closures at all.
My DH called the RD to tell him we where stuck in the line (as I have to start first) and he was driving his golf cart up and down trying to find me.
By the time we parked up, got the chair off the car roof, set it up and made it to the start line I got there just in time for the athem to be sung.
I will be driving in again, and at least this year the clocks will not be changing on race day!!!!!!

Wow! Syko I would have totally been panicking. That is exactly the scenario I see happening to me! I'm glad you made it!

But, since I want to stay a whole week I don't really see myself paying $110 a night. I do expect that some other discounts might come out though so I will wait and see. :goodvibes

So, Stacy, what y'all gonna do? popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

LOL Hey girl.. :goodvibes Well, sorry but no Poly for us - NOW MIL decides to go "budget" on us.. :lmao: We are most likely going to be booking at POR. Not what i would have loved, i was hoping for CBR.. but i guess we'll take it. :) Although I was thinking Cait would have loved All Star Movies.. but MIL says no for the weekend, since there is no hot tub there (so i guess she hasn't gone TOTALLY budget on us.. LOL) :rotfl2:

However, i am bummed, cuz i tried calling and booking, but now the lady on the phone says they can't book them yet, they don't have the pin they need for the computer.. ! :surfweb:Are you KIDDIN?? What the heck did you release them online for if you can't book 'em yet?! :confused3:mad: So, she said to call back in a day or so.. which to me means --- try later today -- the next shift in may have the pin.. LOL :rolleyes1 My sis is hanging too, b/c hopefully she can book the date for her disney wedding too - she is chatting with her wedding planner today at 3pm, so i will update ya! We will all sleep better when the hotel and wedding are offically booked!! Meanwhile the MIL is off to WDW tomorrow for a long weekend. :(

Also, i have to check how many nights they will honor the race discount for.. I will be there 9 nights.. so, i need a deal. LOL Or, we may stay at POR for Fri/Sat night and then move to ASM. My MIL will (on that Sunday) be moving to stay with her friends that invited her down, at AKL Villas and leave me and Cait with the room for the week -- (see, you didn't think she would go all budget on us for long did you?! She just will leave us.. ) :rotfl2: So, then me and Cait will have the room for the rest of the time (Sun - Sat) by ourselves. So........if you want to make a longer trip of it, and catch a Disney wedding.. you got a place! ;) But, i will let you know more details when this is all set in stone.. popcorn::

It depends on what type of DFTW you sister is having, but you might find that her room block rates are cheaper than the Princess ones. (if she has to have a room block)

syko, no i don't believe she has any discounts/blocks - she is doing the Escape wedding, which is the small (under 20 people) wedding.. so, i don't think she gets a room discount.. :(

BTW Syko - i LOVED that Balton Spa Cleansing/Toning lotion spray --- it was wonderful!! I am definately going to be ordering myself some!

I was hoping to stay at AKL (never been) but I am wondering how much a taxi will cost to get to one of the hotels that can take me via bus to the race? any ideas? can i do that? if not i guess i will stay at ssr (i am new dvc)

I talked to DH today about whether he still wanted to go or if I should hunt down a roommate, and he still wants to go! He says he wouldn't miss it. (This is the same man who decorated our whole house with posters and WISH lime green crepe paper for my first 5k at Disney last year, so he's farily supportive!)

We will probably stay off site - we live in the area now so we know the hotels pretty well! Plus, we'll drive from Sarasota, so we will have a car. I can give anyone staying near me a ride to the race. Yay for carpooling!

I'm glad you like it, you can use the discount code that I have to give to people if they stop me and ask (I have it written on a tee shirt and chair) Its: coupon10 It will give you a 10% discount.

you are right, escape weddings do not have a room block.
