Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

I have never been happier that I checked the boards at work today. I would not have known otherwise.

Next decision to make, which Star Wars shirt to wear to the meal. Seeing as Greedo is listed as being present, thinking my 'Han Shot First' shirt. WOOO!

......................LMFAO........:rotfl2::cheer2:

I assumed there was no chance of the SWW character dinner since it wasn't showing up all day on my MDE ap. I called for the heck of it this afternoon and was able to get either May 31 or June 1 with a few time choices! I went with June 1 since it is my son's birthday.

Yeah neither meal is showing up on MDE (app or website). You have to call in to get a reservation unfortunately.

I called this morning right at 7, when I realized you couldn't book this on line. At 8:10 I had to hang up and go to work. Then I called back on my cellphone and waited another 55 minutes. I was relieved to find they still had openings at Sci-Fi on the day and time I wanted first. I totally forgot to even ask what the menu was!!!

So now the joke with my kids is they are going to be served octopus sandwiches. I told them for $48 bucks they are going to eat EVERY bite! :lmao:

Will Fantasmic still be showing since there will be a special fireworks show during SWW?

HUGE THANKS to everyone here for posting about the character meals. So glad I checked this morning. And another HUGE thanks to those who posted about the route around to get to actually talk to someone real, in a timely fashion. For those of us sneaking a call in from work...made a big difference. I was able to get a dinner and a breakfast for the only two days we'll be there. THANKS!

Yes, there are actually 2 Fantasmics on these days. I plan on watching the fireworks, then going to see the second Fantasmic. I think trying to see the first one would cut it too close to the fireworks and you probably wouldn't be able to find a great spot.

:rotfl2: HAN SHOT FIRST... AMEN! Love it! That's a perfect shirt! :rotfl2:

While we ate dinner tonight, Dh and I discussed the cost of the character meals vs. the experience, and decided it was completely worth it to do the meals. Last year our DS (4 at the time) got heat stroke while waiting in line for the same characters, and we didn't even get them all. This year, we will also have our newborn (will be 4 months) with us, and the cost of the meals is 100% worth keeping our two sons out of the hot sun and allowing ODS to see everyone he wants in a certain time frame. Not to mention that the timeframe includes the possibility of cocktails for DH and I, and we were fully sold! So happy that I have been up since 4 am for these reservations (DBaby woke me at 4 and I stayed up to get them!)!

This has been the craziest day! It was so stressful this morning as we all went through the wait for reservations and then it was so exhilarating this evening to read everyone's triumphs! This is going to be an amazing SWW ( my family's first ), and I am going to bed with the biggest smile! Thanks for sharing all your experiences!
:cloud9:

Reading everyone's stories about getting their ADRs makes me laugh. I haven't called since our first trip together in 2010, so this was my first "start calling at 6:00 AM and stay on the phone until you get what you want". I was still on hold when my first class started. I told my 8th graders that I would never do it again and I just kept grading their papers and FINALLY someone came on the other end!

Now I'm more than a little worried :scared: because I was so surprised to call in today in the afternoon in Vegas, and still be able to book a dinner at H&V for 5pm on June 14th. I asked for the Star Wars dinner, and she asked me if I wanted the Fantasmic package and I said no.

So we booked it, but on MDE it says nothing about Jedi Mickey or Star Wars, not even in the details. So can I assume that it is definitely a Jedi Mickey character meal since it falls within the days they are being held? We don't have the dining plan, so it doesn't even show how much it will cost, just says H&V Dinner and has "character meal".

Please talk me "off the ledge".

It is definitely the Jedi Character meal as there is no other type of meal for that time and date. The price should be approximately $56 per adult.

From the Disney Food Blog:

The Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine

At Hollywood and Vine, dinner will feature Disney characters wearing their Star Wars best! You may get the chance to meet Ewok Chip & Dale, Jedi Mickey, Leia Minnie, Darth Goofy, and/or Stormtrooper Donald. Dinner seatings start at 4:15pm and go until park close (8pm-9:30pm) for $55.99 adults and $33.99 kids 3-9.

I had this same minor freak out earlier. Except MDE doesn't even say "character meal" next to it. I spent an additional half hour waiting on hold to talk to someone who confirmed my reservation were in fact for the character meals.

:crazy2: I go to sleep early and wake up early to work 12hours not logging onto the Dis for one day and I miss this amazing announcement! :darth:

Ah wells. Congrats on all those who got their ressies. Looks like SWW is looking more interesting each week since Hoopla was cancelled. :thumbsup2

Has a celebrity lineup been released for SWW other than the Mark Hamill news?

Yulilin does a great job of keeping everything updated in the first post of this thread. You may want to check there...

After trying ALL DAY finally got the day and time I wanted for SciFi breakfast. I was so shocked and so happy I started crying on the phone, then the CM started crying and as Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory would say it was "pure Disney magic."

I get exactly how you were feeling. After waiting on hold and finally getting someone I got both breakfast and dinner on the only day we could do it and my cell phone died before she could get any of my information!!!! I've been having problems with my phone and had a full battery when I called. I wanted to cry. Called back and sat on hold again with my phone plugged in charging and once again was able to get the times I wanted!!!! I couldn't be happier!! Now I can't wait to tell my oldest because he absolutely loves Star Wars and his favorite is Darth Vader!!!

Yay!! I was kinda sad that I didn't have a Star Wars shirt to wear for SWW. But I was picking up some clothes, and I found one I forgot I had bought from Threadless!! Can't wait to show it off. Sorry just wanted to celebrate a little lol

I guess being in UK has its advantages for ADRs. I was able to call at around 7pm last night, got through right away and booked breakfast at Sci-Fi for 16th May.
