Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

Great, both replies are a great help. Guess I'll decide whether or not to ride TSMM based on the opening time that day. Chewie will be a bigger priority than TSMM for us. Yes, our breakfast is at the Sci-Fi - if only Chewie were inside too.

I'd FP+ TSMM for any time during the day and as soon as I got past rope drop hit the Chewie :) Then got to breakfast...

Last year I went straight to chewie at rope drop and still ended up being 6th in line. And I have long legs and can run (did I say run I meant walk at lightspeed) and my boyfriend can keep up!

Do I have to choose between signing up for JTA and seeing Chewie?

No, you can do both, you will just get a longer line for Chewie...if there's more than one adult in your party someone can go with the child to sign up for JTA at the Indy Theater while the other goes to get in line for Chewie

Good point. Thanks!

if I have a breakfast reservation at sci-fi at 8am, I have no other option than getting in line for chewie after that. I'm guessing 9am. how long should I expect to be there? an hour? more?

also, for people with breakfast reservations do you think there will be another line to get inside the park? I was wondering that because if there is a long line of people that have been waiting since 6am to enter the park and we get there at 7.30am for example, just to get to breakfast, we might not make it for our 8am reservation just because of the long long line outside. what do you guys think?

We are also good at walking at lightspeed ;) We'll be using our FP+ for RNRC. If we have to skip TSMM that day in order to meet Chewie then so be it.

Our last name is Wookey so shouldn't we get a front of the line pass to meet our cousin Chewie??? :rotfl2:

Not sure what the earliest time for breakfast they have but if you have a ressie for 8am (we also have one at that time for June 1st) then the park will have been opened for at least 15 minutes already. No need for an additional line...If you get in Chewies line you'll wait anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. Don't wait until later in the day because the line just gets longer and it's hotter.

The limited teiring system is driving me nutz! The Only FPs I want are for TSMM, RNRC and ToT... so this having to pick between TSMM and RNRC is killing me! We are lucky to be there three days so we will just have to pick which days get the TSMM/RNRC FP. I will be riding star tours over and over anyways that weekend so I will hit it when ever I see the line is low..

Wookey :chewy: LOL you would think so, right?!

FYI, I emailed Tables in Wonderland to get a definitive answer about using the card at the Star Wars meals and here was their response:

Unfortunately, as the Star Wars Galactic Dine-In Breakfast and the Character Dinner are Special Event Offerings during Star Wars Weekends, the Tables in Wonderland discount will not be accepted.

Boo!

I am trying to decide whether or not to get photopass for this. Are their photopass photogs for most of the meet-n-greets? Also, for character meals, do they normally just have a photog for a stages location or do they walk around getting random pics at the tables?

There is a photopass person with each character that has a designated area...there are a couple that walk around with the roaming characters but these are harder to get.
For character meals I think it's usually just a photopass person at the stage location, for the characters that walk from one table to the next I don't think so.
(last character meal I did was the safari one at Tusker House in AK, they had a photopass person outside where Donald met you before your meal but once inside there weren't any, this was last year)

Saw a post stating that Darth Vader is going to be the separate photo op at breakfast. He will not walk around. Came from a poster who is apparently a restaurant CM although you can never tell online.

That sure seems odd that Disney Dining will accept DDP but not TiW?? So it's only a special event for TiW, but not for DDP?

TIW is not the same program as the Dining Plan and they are run by different departments.

The dining plan is not a discount, it is an alternate method of payment (that may or may not work out to be a discount). When they say "no discounts" they don't mean DDP.

That makes sense, like at Akerush where Belle has a special area where she meets before you sit down, then the rest of the princesses walk around... thanks for the info

These blackout dates TiW has for other restaurants in the same time frame, that I can understand being applied to these new character meal offerings.
Beginning August 1st 2014, 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey’s, ‘Ohana (Dinner Only), Cinderella’s Royal Table, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, and Le Cellier Steakhouse will be subject to the additional blockout weeks of: November 23-29, 2014; December 21-27, 2014; March 8-April 4, 2015; May 31-June 20, 2015.

I would understand better Disney's decision better if they followed their same rules as above. I'm surprised with the restaurants being TiW restaurants they aren't.

I haven't read the entire thread so I apologize if this has already been stated. I called Disney Dining today to book a dinner at Hollywood and Vine on June 7th, but the automated system told me there was no availability for the date and time I wanted. I pushed all the right buttons and was routed to a live CM and was able to get the date and time that I wanted.

Don't give up if the automated system tells you that you are out of luck. We all know that the droids were separatist's and shouldn't be trusted.

Talk to a live CM and your destiny just may be fulfilled.

May the force be with us all. ::yes::

Do you mean if they get in line after the breakfast?

I also have an 8am res, and need to work out how I'm going to do this. I want to get autographs done and out of the way early in the morning and Chewie will be top of our list I think. If he doesn't come out until 8:30 then I can't line up before breakfast, but having the Sci-Fi res means I won't want to hurry there either. So if I'm not out and at Chewie's line until 9:30, does that mean we will have a ridiculously long wait time?
