Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

They just today updated the June DHS schedule on the HUB to show the 8am to 10pm with both Fantasmics! I'm sure that if they are going to have fireworks for every SWW it will be added to the June dates as well.

Thanks!
I really hope that they do :)

Here's a video of Symphony in the Stars from last years May the Fourth event. It should be the same show or very similar to this:

As for what the best location is to view them; if you want to have the Hat centered with the show then anywhere down Hollywood Blvd. Do not go to close to the Hat or you will lose some of the fireworks, I would say from the tip board down to the main entrance is fine.
If you don't mind not having the hat in the center then around Echo lake is a good alternative. By the Indy theater is a good place and you can sit in the stair around there. We always watch the special events fireworks from DHS (July 4th, NYE) from a bench next to 50s Prime Time, it's obviously not centered but it's better than battling the crowds down Hollywood Blcd.
Do not watch them from Sunset Blvd, there are bldgs and tress that will block you.
I haven't watched them from the back of the park (Streets of America/Backlot Area) but you should be able to see them fine since the fireworks are launched from a top of The Great Movie Ride and from the backstage areas of Backlot Tour
I guess I'll have another excuse to stay late every night to see them from different angles and report back :scratchin .
Sorry Reizo I didn't realize you had already posted a link to the fireworks :)

Another thing to keep in mind is that several high traffic areas of the studios will be closed for fireworks. Wasn't TSM closed about an hour before? To leave the Commissary, we had to walk towards Star Tours because they had plantars up by the Commissary because that part of the street was closed. I don't remember where else it was closed off to foot traffic.

I was just talking to my husband about this (he works at TSM and Backlot Tour) there are going to be a whole bunch of angry guest trying to get to TSMM. They have to close it in time to get everyone out of the area (TSM/One Man's Dream) before the fireworks start. SO the fireworks start at 9:45pm, let's say that TSM has an hour wait, they would have to close it around 8:30pm to 8:45pm...and not reopen it since the park closes at 10pm.
I don't have the ability to make fp+ plans in advance but I wonder what the latest time for a fp is it going to show for SWW dates.
The perimeter that is closed is from Studio Catering Co. to the entrance to Voyage of the Little Mermaid, that street.

We've decided to stay onsite that first weekend. I'll have the ability to check at that 60 day mark.

Just wanted to bump the page. How's everyone's planning going? Any particular event/character you're excited to see?

Sorry to all of you Trekkies, but my family is not really interested in SSW (no flames ; ) but will be at the World May 17 and 18 by default. My question is, how are the other parks during these weekends? Shoul I expect them to be crazy busy as well, or are the crowds mainly confined to HS? Thanks!

All of it, since we've never been to a SWW! I'm most excited to see Darth Vader and hopefully a young Obi Wan! We're surprising our boys with this so I'm sure they will be thrilled to see and do it all! I'm down to 100 days and I can't wait!!!

We will be visiting WDW the first week of June this year. Was not planning to do SWW but now I am very intrigued at the chance to see the symphony of the stars fireworks! We r planning our AK day Sunday June 1st. We could then park hop to DHS to see the fireworks. How early would we need to arrive to see the show? Thanks for your help!

the fireworks:)
Me too... :cool1:

:goodvibes Not Trekkies (That's Star Trek fans) and no flames from us, we are a friendly group. All the parks should be busy but that's just normal, not super crazy busy, but busy in general.

I wish there was an Obi Wan meet and greet that would be cool.Have a good, reasonable plan, try and get there before the park opens and you will have a great time

The fireworks can be seen even from outside the park (not sure if you'll be able to hear the music) so around 9pm would be ok. If you want a spot where the hat is centered then I would plan to get in place around 8:45pm.
Keep a look out for this thread as I will take it upon myself (what a sacrifice, right?) to watch the fireworks from different points in the park and report back.

thank you so much! I appreciate your info and help!

This will be DHs and my first experience with SWW and we are so excited to see it all!!

Beware of watching the YouTube of Symphony in the Sky! After watching the YouTube video, for giggles, I thought I would price out a quick trip, jokes on me - I ended up booking! Actually found an AMAZING deal to fly down (from MA) on a Friday morning and then home on Sunday afternoon (5/30 - 6/1). Can't say enough good things about a JetBlue Getaway package that actually has Air and hotel (at the Pop) bundled for cheaper than just the airfare.

The deal was so good, a buddy of mine booked too - so it's a guys trip the two of us and his two boys (8 and 13).

Can't wait, but a little surreal to be doing Disney for, literally, a weekend.

So beware of the YouTube....or I just have to watch more videos - and book more trips - I like that option better...
