Official Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend - The Dark Side 2017

When it comes to headphones and races (or headphones in general while running, actually, now that I think about it), I just wear one ear so that I can hear whatever I feel like listening to but am still able to hear everything going on around me.

They do have signs for them as well. I wore mine last year and had no issues. I personally can't run without music.
I'm not saying don't wear them, I'm saying don't crank the volume up so loud that you can't hear what's going on around you.

I didn't do this race last year. Was there Kessel run specific merchandise at the expo? Regardless, does anyone think there will be a lot of Kessel merchandise this year?

In case anyone is interested the 10K is now open for sign up again. It was sold out previously and appears to have opened last night.

I wonder why that happens? How does it sell out and then become available?

Okay, how many other people now have the "caution runners, speedbumps ahead" recording stuck in their head?
:wave2: Worse: I'm local(ish) and drive everywhere when I'm at WDW... every time I drive through those spots, I hear it in my head, lol!

There was - I don't recall what, exactly, bu I do remember seeing stuff! It wasn't a lot, but it seemed popular, so I expect they'll have at least as much again this year.

It's allowed, but you want to be able to hear on-course announcements. They'll be telling you when speed bumps are coming up, if there's a sharp turn, when the course narrows, etc. You also want to be able to hear volunteers and your fellow runners!
Thanks for the heads up.

Interesting.

They probably took some registrations out of the Challenge pool and put them into inventory of the individual races.
Yep, I'm sure this is what they did. Makes me wonder how many people are currently signed up for the Challenge if they can break apart the registrations into more 10K spots but still have the Challenge itself open too. And I don't think this is the first time - the 10K sold out quickly but reopened for a little while a few weeks ago too. The half probably still has quite a few spots available.

It wont allow me to pre purchase the Pins when signing up for this event. Have they sold out??

That's one possibility. Another is that they've gotten unsold bibs back from charity partners or travel agents.

What if we sign up after today? Can we still register with a POT?

That was answered in the last couple days (look back a page or two), but here were the main answers...

I'd think you would still be placed accordingly as you would include POT when you register. I just think the 19th is the cut off for updating or changing your POT.

You can submit your POT but it still has to be from a race that was before January 19.

So after the awesome medals at this past weekends race is anyone underwhelmed by the Dark Side medals this year? I'm only excited for the 10k medal but the half marathon and challenge medal are a bit underwhelming. Also it seems like the challenge medals have all been a rectangular shape as of late, which I kind of liked. It seemed like there was a theme with rectangle challenge medals.. Lumiere, Gauntlet and Light Side challenge all were about same size and dimension... Just an observation.

Last Day for Proof of Time Entry/Change

Just a reminder, that today is the last day to change your proof of time for SWDS half marathon. Go to your active.com events page to view or edit (http://myevents.active.com).
I thought I read that it's better to have something in the POT even if it isn't great. Does anyone know if that's true?
