Official Star Wars Half Marathon Thread...Jan 15-18th, 2015!!

The pins are always really nice, the necklaces... not so much. They offered a jacket for this run, that's new to me :) They don't post pictures of the commemorative items ahead of time, from my experience.

DH and I are in for the Rebel Challenge!!!:cool1: He said the only way he would ever run another half was if it was Star Wars! He's not going to train specifically for the half just do Crossfit and he's going to run at my pace!! LOL! it'll probably push me to PR! Last year at Wine and Dine he beat me by over an hour!

Registration was very stressful! When I clicked on the Rebel Challenge registration link at 11am CST it said the race was full! :confused3I had to click on the Half Marathon tab and then select Rebel Challenge from there! Adrenaline still pumping 40 minutes later!! I have already printed all our confirmations! This is the most important race we've ever done!!!! Big Star Wars geeks!!!:banana::banana:

I'm in for the half!

What the heck did I just do?!:lmao:

My family of four will be running the 5K together. We aren't runners but will be ready. So excited for our first rundisney event!! My then 7 year old will also be doing the kids race. So fun!!!

Reading this made me smile!! I am super excited for you all! :yay:

I am still a little nervous not having a confirmation from Acclaim. Trying to trust the process! So excited for all of this watching people sign up.

It is alittle nerve wracking but I read the reviews before and heard from people who have gone through them, besides one everything was really positive and the fact they are on the RunDisney site as authorised makes me feel a lot better.

Has anyone bought the jacket? W/o seeing a picture I find it hard to fork over $90 or so.

Plus, I wonder if they'll be selling it at the expo? The last few races the preordered pins were also available at the expo whereas when they started with the preordering, that was the only way to get those pins.

Me too! I am a worry wart. This is my first RunDisney event and I am super excited and nervous about it. It's sinking in that this means I need to actually run this thing and not get swept. Ack!!!!!

:confused3:confused3

I got myself registered for the 10k, but it sold out before I could get my DH registered!!

Anyone have any ideas how I can nab him a spot? (or get rid of mine? I dot want to run alone. )

I am considering pre-ordering the jacket also. I bought the one at Tink at it is very nice. It was gone fast though.

Does anyone know if you can return items at the expo if I buy them now?

Try one of the travel providers like acclaim or a charity spot, but usually have to raise 1k before end of December. Or you can defer to 2016 Star Wars

And its all over. Congrats to those who got a spot!!

Rebel Challenge ~25 mins.
Kids' Races ~41 mins.
5K ~57 mins.
10K ~1 hour 42 mins.
½ Marathon ~2 hours 4 mins.

It all sold out faster than I can run a half marathon....

No you can't - I tried to do that so I could repurchase and get my DVC discount but cast members wouldn't do it - even manager said no. So it's a bummer to buy all this stuff and don't get at least 10% off but then if you don't you may not get the items at the expo if they sell out fast --and Ebay can be marked up significantly -

BOOOOO. :) thanks for the info. I was thinking the same with with my 20% AP discount!

So excited!! We got in for the 10K! We did our first ever runDisney event last May (Expedition Everest) and had a blast! We are now addicted and planning on 4 events next year! We are 5K and 10K runners, but are actually doing the Tink and Princess half marathons so we can get the coast to coast medal. runDisney makes people insane...

Thanks for posting all the times! I'm always so curious to see how fast they go! :)

I got in to the half, which is what I wanted. I had considered the Rebel Challenge, but since I'm running the Marathon in Fl. just one week before, decided against it.

Haha, faster than a lot of us I'm guessing. Thanks for the recap of how fast they all sold out. At least one of my family members registering on their own was able to get in. I'm still waiting to hear from everyone else.

This was the first time I was unable to use the Disney Visa discount. No more early registration and no more discount either? Where is the love for Disney Visa cardholders?
