We had a great time staying at SoG. Thanks for all that pre-trip advice!
Looking forward to our family reunion/vow renewal in 010 there now.

Parking - we had to pay everywhere but MK since SoG is through there. Remember to go through the farthest right car gate too, cutting across traffic is gruesome sometimes!

Sorry to double post, I forgot to ask a question...

What's the latest on parking at the Parks? The last I heard, SOG policy said you have to pay to park at the Parks, but Disney CMs didn't always charge people. Does anyone have recent experience to share? Thanks!

When we went last March, we didn't have to pay for parking at any of the parks ... just showed the SOG hangtag and they let us right in. Is this a recent change?

I am curious too. I have stayed at SOG many times and never paid for parking at the parks. If I have to pay parking at SOG and and the parks I will not be happy!

Is this new? When did it start?

If it is true the value of staying at SOG for me is declining quickly. I can always get a value room cheaper and I can usually get a moderate for the same price or a little less. Add in parking costs and it may really start to tip the scale!

A first timer here for SOG in May. I was also curious about the parking?
Anyone been in the last few months who can confirm wether or not we pay for theme park parking lots?

I was there towards the end of Oct. and not once did anyone ask us to pay to park.

I was just there Dec 24th to Jan 1st.
We paid $5/day for SoG garage parking and had the little hang tang on our mirror.
We had to pay the $12/parking at Epcot, AK, and at DHS. Twice at Epcot actually.

Change? Enforced for holidays? I don't know, but we had to pay.

What kind of access do they have? Do the rooms have WiFI? I've looked on their site and can't seem to find that info.
Thanks!:goodvibes

I just got off the phone with someone from the Executive offices at WDW and she said that SOG guests should not be paying to park at any of the parks. If you have paid to park and you still have the parking tickets then mail them in and they will issue a refund. She also said that if a CM does not allow you to park for free with your SOG placard or room key then write down the name of the CM and send it in as well. She apologized profusely and said that it was unacceptable that the guests of SOG were being charged to park at the parks and that they are going to be re-training the CM's to let them know that they are not to charge us. :woohoo:

There was a discussion about parking back in July and someone called to ask Disney directly. Maybe it has changed since then. We went in September and we were not charged for parking.

No WiFi, they will give you a cable to hook up at the front desk.

Actually, this was posted back in November....

I should give you a heads up on the internet at SOG. Here's the info from the SOG Newsletter:

Last time we visited (Jan 2008), they had a wired connection in each room. You'd get a ethernet wire from the front desk. So you could only use the internet in your room, and due to the short wires, you basically had to use it at the small round table.

Now they have wireless internet throughout the entire hotel. They sell little business cards like this with a 24-hour access code:

We bought 5 cards at check-in ($6.95 each) for the length of our stay. For some reason, I only used one of them. My access was never shut off.

So you might want to buy each card as you need them, instead of buying a bunch at one time.

The wifi sucks. Very slow, almost dial-up speed. Some times it would burst, and pages would come up instantly. Other times it would time-out. And I had a great connection (always 4-5 bars). So that was a bit frustrating. Don't bother trying to download or upload any large files.

I figured I'd post this here and maybe someone would know the answer, before I get on the phone and try to call about it.

With the complimentary 5-Day Disney's Armed Forces Salute Ticket and the companion tickets, does anyone know if you have to use these tickets 5 consecutive days? We will be at Disney for 10 days and want to break our park days up into a park day every other day, but I wanted to make sure I wouldn't be losing days if I did that.

Anyone have gotten the complimentary ticket or the $99 dollar companion and know the answer to this?

Thanks!

the tickets are good for 14 after first use.

My understanding is that the tickets do not expire after 14 days of use but expire on Dec 23.

This promotion will begin on 1/4/09 and end on 12/23/09. Tickets will expire on 12/23/09 and have no block-out dates. These tickets do not expire after 14 days... They will expire when fully used OR December 23, 2009.

Companion tickets may be upgraded to add park hopping, WPFM or to an annual pass anytime between January 4th -December 23, 2009. These tickets do NOT expire in 14 days as previously thought.
