3 trips in 8 months...I will live vicariously through you Gina!

Ha ha! It's a sickness, I tell you! :rotfl:

In all seriousness, its not quite as bad as it sounds. May and October are just DH and I, so we only need airfare for 2 versus for 3 (or 4.....DS's GF is learning to love Florida as much as we do!). Our offsite timeshare saves us a HUGE amount on accommodations, allowing us to stay 3 weeks for less than the price of 1 in a villa at a Disney resort. Universal AP's and SeaWorld/Aquatica AP's are maximizing our ticket budget (especially the latter...which were buy one, get one free) and offsite dining is sooo affordable. Our Christmas trip is the whole family (including DS and his girlfriend) and that's in lieu of traditional Christmas gifts, so that's a savings for us.

So if I can keep airfare in check.....then we're all good. If not? Bye bye, budget :rolleyes1 .

I am waiting on approval from work to take a year off, if I get it, then I really need a lot of pixie dust to make this fall trip happen. If not this year, then next. MNSSHP is on my bucket list.

Fingers crossed for you that everyting comes together! When might you get your approval for the time off? Do you have to wait much longer?

MNSSHP is on my bucket list too, but DH isn't so keen. Bless him, he has given me carte blanche to buy the tickets when they come out, but we're already going to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal (we get free tickets with our Premier AP's) so I'm having a hard time deciding about the cost versus the benefit. With this shaping up to be such a BIG trip year (and to add insult to injury, our loonie is tanking), I'm not sure if its fiscally responsible to spend more on park tickets. Thankfully, I have a few more months to sort it all out in my mind (and in our budget) :) .

Cheap airfare vibes to both of us :)

Amen, sister! :goodvibes

No worries about the Allegiant air, its a great option next time we cruise! But we need the Magical Express so its kind of out for us.

The prices at Allegiant are as low as $69!!!

the Jetblue prices need to be in the 70s for me to fly with them, We are hardcore Southwest people, Ive always flied with them and have always enjoyed our time on the planes. I guess its kind of like how we always end up back at the Pop, its just Comfortable! I would love to swing Wilderness Lodge this trip but its sooooo nice to have a pool right outside our door (we like to stay in the 50s) that its hard to justify the money for the WL when we're so happy at the Pop. Granted, Ive stayed at the Poly most of my life, DH has never stayed at a Deluxe Resort, I would Love for him to have that experience, but id rather the kids a bit older and more self-sufficient to stay there.

Ok, I need to call and update my reservation, does it matter if I do it now? or should I just wait until I book my airfare and then change my dates etc... to that?

We're currently booked for Nov 8-14, but we're going to go October 14-18 now instead. Do i need to worry about the room rate going up?

We will be driving. It's a 12 hour drive for us. We originally thought we would leave early Friday morning and check in Friday night, but now we are considering leaving out Thursday after school/work and driving through the night. My husband works graveyards so he's accustomed to being up all night and this way the kids would sleep through most of the trip.

We are Driving from LA as well. I wanted to leave Friday after school and drive through the night, but my hubby says that is a NO GO... lol

But our stay will really depend on the last day of FD, (if offered)

Either way it is so hard to book this far out.. I am ready to book dining and Fast passes....

QUOTE]

I called today and changed our reservation to start on the 13th of October. the price is perfect, I got all excited because the CM said that there will definitely be free dining offered in the Fall, however, I did some research and discovered the dates I booked were blocked out for FD last year!!! the last day was October 4 and then it was blocked out for two weeks, and then it started again Oct 25 or something like that. so It looks like i may end up taking a discounted room offer and then paying for dining :P I am definitely booking a bounce back offer this time! I should have looked more into it before I left.

ANYWAY! So now that im all set on dates (please let the airlines agree with cheap fare for the days I want!)

Here are my thoughts.... this will be my first time planning dining this far ahead. I have DD 7 and DS 3

Yesterday we arrived home from our first ever camping at Ft. W trip and now in our post Disney vaca, cold weather funk I am jumping head first into planning our next trip!

This is the first (and probably last ;) ) time we will be going twice in one year and we are so excited to be going in the fall again. Winter was definitely fun but we really enjoy the Halloween decorations, MNSSHP and the hotter weather.

We are staying at Pop from 10/25 - 11/1.

I am going to pour a cup of coffee and start reading this thread from page 1. Looking forward to planning with you all!

Welcome to the group! I can't wait to camp at the Fort, but it won't be this year... Next year, for sure! I totally understand about the winter funk and planning a trip. My oncologist last week told me to cut extra stress out of my life so what do I do? Start planning another trip to Disney.... but not the one in Oct... I booked a quick trip in March so now I'm planning two. So much for that stress thing! LOL

So, for all of us here hanging out in the October thread....who else is waiting for flights to be released?

And who is driving down?

I'm always waiting for flights... but since I highly doubt I'll get the same great deal I got this past year (Delta/priceline glitch $37RT tix) then we'll be driving the 10.5hrs (12 if you count food/gas/bathroom stops). SO... with that being said, I'm watching rental car prices. My folks want to rent a van so we can ride together.... I would rather not. We'll see who wins!

LOL, I had a flashback to our trip two years ago when I read this :) We have the same drive so 11 hours in the car with my in-laws just wasn't an option for me. Plus, we like to leave around 9:00pm and drive all night which isn't something my in-laws were thrilled with. They wanted to ride with us as we can fit 7 in our car and we are a party of 3. However, we convinced them that it would be too crowded for that long and we would have to put luggage on top of the car (which would impact our gas mileage). We convinced them that it would be more relaxing for them to drive separately and go on ahead of us at their own pace. Ironically, they ended up leaving a whole day early and spending the night in Valdosta. So, they ended up paying a whole lot more than we would have with the lower gas mileage....but we all arrived happy and excited to see each other! °o°

since i dont know the exact dates yet I am doing day 1 and such..

day 1 Morning at AK, evening at Epcot
day 2 Rope Drop and Anna and Elsa with DD, rest of the day at HS
day 3 MK
day 4 rest at resort and swim
day 5 MK
Day 6 Morning at AK just long enough to FP EE and see lion king, then off to HS
Day 7 (HOPEFULLY will be 10-31) so morning rest/swim and the MNSSHP at 4 and on
Day 8 depart.. :(

But all of this will depend on when they are doing the MNSSHP events at MK.. may have to shuffle my days around since we are only doing the party once.

We are only getting 5 day park hoppers and 1 set of event tickets... so hope i am planning it right

so excited (and overwhelmed) to plan our first ever family trip to WDW!!!! we are going oct 24-30 and staying at pop century. family includes myself, DH, DS (9), DD (14 months), and my mom. plan on doing the dining plan (hoping for free dining) and also MNSSHP. can't wait to start booking ADRs and Fastpasses. all of the info i come across here helps. so if anyone has any words of wisdom/advice/suggestions/encouragement/etc...feel free to send it my way. :)

I suggested leaving right after school and stopping somewhere overnight, but DH said he'd prefer to leave later at night so that the kids would sleep the whole trip and he could have a peaceful drive without listening to them fighting and whining.
