We were at MCO 8/23 for our return home. Returned rental car-took 5 minutes, checked luggage USAirways took maybe 5-10 minutes (took longer to walk all the way down to the USAirways counter!) and 10 minutes to go through TSA.Took off shoes ahead of time, threw away my stick deodorant before I realized I could have it. DD15 had a Body Shop lip gloss pot in bag that didn't get taken-she had forgotten about it and we didn't find it till we got home. I was paranoid that we needed to be at our gate at least an hour ahead. I wish we had slowed down and shopped a bit in the terminal before going through security. I hadn't been to MCO since 99, and I forgot that there are no shops past security.
They do additional TSA checks at the boarding gate. I saw about 6 people randomly checked before we boarded. The TSA agent looked like she was counting and every so many people she stopped them, no matter if they werre adult, child,preferred flyer whatever. She took everything out of their carryons and looked.
