****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Hi all...:)

I have a pretty big vacation planned for May. We are starting out at Universal Studios for 2 days from the 17th-19th. Then we are heading for our first ever cruise (and lucky enough to do that cruise on the Disney Dream :):cloud9:) from the 20th-24th. We will finish our vacation off with 5 days at WDW and will be staying at All-Star Movies!!!

We are very much looking forward to our once in a life time vacation!!!:woohoo:

Finally we booked out flights! We are flying out of Philadelphia using
Southwest. Honeymoon vacation bookings are complete!

Did everyone book their transportation if you are flying?

No airfare here yet.....They are holding steady at $119 per person each way right now. Never paid that much before and don't plan to this time either!! So I'm waiting them out.....:wizard:

This sounds amazing! Are you planning to write a PTR or a TR??

The reasonable airfare is what sealed the deal for us. My dh said we would not be going this year after 8yrs in a row. After I saw the airfare prices it was a go. We booked air 12/29.

we have our flights booked too. Took care of that in December. i sure with i was able to say i got some great rates like some of you but that just doesn't happen when coming from up here in Canada :( That's why we make our trips far between but stay LOooonggg! This next trip is for 19 glorious sun filled days!!! It's gonna make it an early start to summer for us :) yay!!

oh! We got an amazing condo rate though!!! $70/night with one night thrown in for free :thumbsup2

Ugh.....we booked our flights sometime last month or maybe even in November. Flights coming out of Albuquerque, NM to Orlando have been ridiculous this year! The best we could get was $200 one-way!!:scared1: The only thing that saved us this year, is that I got a SW Visa card and got 2 round trip flights free! So I only had to fork over for one round trip flight!!

When we went in 2009 we only paid around $100 one-way. I was bummed at the prices this year.

CANT WAIT!!!!!!
We're going May 6th thru the 11th - as of right now we're staying at the AKL!!
Hoping that the wait list for the BWV come through! :finger crossed:

yay!!!!!!:cool1::cool1:

Glad you booked your tickets!
We're driving down, so airfare isn't an issue, and from the trouble everyone's been having, I'm kind of happy that I have one less hassle to worry about.

We booked with Southwest out of Chicago... we're closer to Milwaukee but flights were so much cheaper by driving another hour south so we decided to do that.

We had originally planned to drive but I got the Southwest Visa with the 50,000 point bonus a few months ago and we got to use that up sooo for 5 round trip flights from Chicago to Orlando, our grand total was $190!!!

Can't beat that! AND we get to spend another day in Disney because of the savings... woohoo!

I'm not a flyer but the only way to get me on a plane is to say I'm going to Disney World. It will be my daughter's first time flying and my mother in law's first time flying... this should be interesting.

Happy to hear that you got your flights booked.

Every year, I watch Southwest's aifare juuuuust in case it ever gets low enough for us to fly to Disney. But, so far, we've driven the 811 miles to Walt Disney World all of our 16 trips. The cheapest airfare I've found it $133 each way/per person plus we'd have to drive to an airport that's about 2 1/2 hours from our house. It looks like we'll be making the drive for the seventeenth time. :sad2:

I hear you......We've flown a few times--3 times out of the 10 times we've been--but it's only around 600 miles for us. It's a lot cheaper usually to drive it, rather than pay for 5 airline tickets!

Sounds like everyone has their transportation set! I can't believe the prices of airlines right now!

Back when Lacey was still traveling with us, we had 4 to buy tickets for....even now with three people, it's expensive to fly. Even when I factor in gasoline, the cost of a hotel stay overnight (we break the trip up into two) and food costs, it's still cheaper to drive.

It's insane! I broke down and booked last Friday because Im too scared that the prices are going to go up even more! $265/pp....makes me cringe. Especially since we can fly standby since my dad works for the airlines. But last May I got Stranded for 2 days because we couldn't get a flight home. Can't take that chance this time.

I booked our flight with Delta when they first became available. Kalamazoo (Michigan), to Detroit then to Orlando, and then back again.

Wasn't that bad priced only about $300 each (which is still high over a few years ago), if you try to book today, it is $340-$440.
