Leaving in 12 days. Kids still don't know. My wife wants to tell them so she can pack but I really wanted this to be a last minute surprise. Oh well, they'll still be surprised.

How are you going to tell them? Just sit them down and tell them, or give them a bag of Disney goodies and have them guess, or do a scavenger hunt?

I don't know. I would like to do something neat and video it just to get there reaction but can't think of anything really neat.

I think the scavenger hunts are the coolest. I want to surprise my nieces with a WDW trip someday and I'll probably go that route. There are plenty of videos on YouTube and this thread has a lot of ideas: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2809643.

Hi all!
We are home
We had a lovely time and really enjoyed our stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge!
I am a little flat since getting home. Not really post vacation blues. Just trying to get back into routine I guess.
If you have any questions I will be happy to answer what I can. Crowds were good. Once again, hitting rope drop was the key to doing and seeing everything we wanted. It got hot and busy mid-day so we left the parks for afternoon breaks. The evenings were busy, but the temperature drop and the breeze were wonderful. I am used to August trips when it's hot even at night, so this was a pleasant change.
I went over to Pop on my last night to check out the new AoA resort. It's HUGE and so fun looking. I am hoping to stay there soon.

Not much more to report. The new fast pass rules didn't affect us or bother us at all. I think we only used fast pass 4 or 5 times at all. Doing most of our touring in the mornings really made them unnecessary.

Best meal of the trip was Boma or Ohana. Worst was unfortunately the Garden Grill which we have loved in the past. It was just really busy and our server was nowhere to be seen for most of the meal. We were there a realllllyyyyy long time and waited forever between refills etc. Food was just ok. Not horrible but I don't feel the need to return anytime soon.

Overall a wonderful trip

The evenings were busy, but the temperature drop and the breeze were wonderful.

This is good to know! I haven't been to WDW in a month that isn't December since... 1998! I'm really not a hot weather person, so I was wondering how bad May will be. Breezy evenings I can definitely handle!!

It's so nice now that I'm done with school, I can devote all of my time to Disney. Six days!!

We surprised our DD when she was 13 by taking her to New Orleans for her birthday. After the first night there, we drove to the airport................once we told her what we were doing, the tears started flowing!!!

It was the best memory ever.

but it was sooooo hard keeping the secret all those months.

Count me in for surprising the kids too...2 weeks from today cannot come quick enough...

I however, have come up with a plan to get the kids out of the house for packing..(my sister is taking them for the day)

Then, since we are leaving on a Tuesday, the kids will go to school on Monday, do homework (they think they are going to school ) and the next morning there will be one Mickey Balloon with a letter in the living room, explaining that they will be waking up and getting in the car because today they will be going to see WDW!!! (God I hope it works).

For us there was a dramatic difference between morning/evening temps and afternoons! Afternoon was perfect for swimming or napping. In the morning and evening we never felt too hot. It was really nice.

Just checked in at CSR! At Magical Express, I was given the XPass test thingy. Got an upgraded water room. Internet speed is okay (1.11Mbps Down, 0.25Mbps Up). Off to Magic Kingdom!!

I am EXACTLY the same way before a trip. Once it finally gets close my excitement level goes down a bit. We always manage to have a great time once we're there though
