Well DH and I did the crunching a few nights ago and still believe that the Basic DDP we have been using over the past few trips will be an acceptable method of convenience for our next trip Jan 2008. We still feel it has perceived value for us albeight less value/savings then before. Now I will list some observations, opinions and questions:
1.) I will still be saving about $5 a day per person on the plan based on past experience and my upcoming ADR's. The gratuities taken away really hurts the pocket but looks like it is going to hurt all plans across the board, so we are all in the same boat.
2) I am there to experience the whole parks not eat all day so having 3 meals a day (on the Deluxe) to plan out and take the time, not worth it. I have rides to ride and shows to see. Basic is fine and allows me to have my favorites, taste a new place, and give DD a character meal here and there. But I know I am also lucky to be a DVC member and have a means to keep additional food items available (ie breakfast in room).
3.) I am disappointed in not having a choice between appetizer or dessert at the TS meals (not big on sweets). But will adapt, and will pay OOP for my lobster bisque at Chefs de France.......it is soooo worth it (and please do not stare when I lick the bowl clean of every drop, I just paid good money for it....

)
4.) I think this will also push more people to choose the buffet experiences for the perceived value of getting more food/variety of choice/and an "appetizer experience".
5.) Question here: How will the plans dumping of appetizers work at a restaurant like Ohana or Akershus in Norway where appetizers are part of the meal experience (and apparently still one credit). What? Will the waitress say to a customer "Oh, you are on the DDP, I am sorry sir you will not be able to have the wontons, shrimp or wings, just the meat and bread pudding for you." All I am saying is that when I go to CRT on Jan 24th for lunch paying 2 credits I better have the Chef's Tasting Plate (Appetizers) placed in front of me, because as you know Cinderella has instructed her royal chef to start off my meal with the "specialties of the castle".

And when Cindy says do it, you do it!!!
That all I have to say about that...........
