Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

I have an ADR for the Trail's End breakfast early next month. Although I've been visiting the World for decades, the only boats I've used are the big ferries to/from the TTC, and the World Showcase "Friendship" boats. Am I correct in thinking that the boat that leaves from the Contemporary is the best way to reach Trail's End? I would park at the MK, take the monorail that goes to the Contemporary, and then head out to the boat dock. Do they care if you are not staying on-property? I will have my four-day PH ticket with me.

Also, assuming this is a good plan, about how often do these boats run? My ADR is for 9:30 a.m., so I was figuring that getting to the boat dock by 8:45 ought to do it.

Yep, that's the easiest way. For a 9:30 ADR at FtW, I would want to be at the boat dock by 8:30 though. I can't remember exactly what time the boats start running.....I'm sure someone here can tell you that. So, be at the TTC by 7:45, take the resort monorail to the CR, which will take about 20 mins. Then, down to the docks. It's a nice boat ride over to FtW. Just be sure not to get off the boat at WL....get off at FtW. Then, it's a quick walk up the hill from the dock to Trails End.
Now, since you aren't staying on property, you are going to have to pay to park at the TTC...parking lot for MK. If it were me, I would just drive to the CR, pay to valet park, and then take the boat over to FtW. That way, you could get to the CR by 8:30/8:45 and not have to worry about getting to the TTC and then taking the monorail..both of which will take time. YOu have to pay to park, you may as well park closer to your destination.

If I plan to spend the rest of the day at the MK following breakfast, is it considered improper to leave my car with CR's valet parking? I might not be back until sometime after 8:00 p.m.

It's perfectly acceptable to valet park your car and then go anywhere you wish for the day. It is only self-parking that it becomes a no-no to leave for the day.

I apologize if this has been answered in one of the earlier posts on this thread but any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Our trip is next week and we have planned next Monday to be our Epcot day. We are staying at WL, and after breakfast will either take a bus to Epcot or take the boat to MK to take a monorail to TTC to take another monorail to Epcot. (being early in the trip, we'll probably still think that is a cute option and we have no strollers, so besides the multiple transfers, it might be fun!)

We want to go to DHS after the afternoon at Epcot, planning to arrive at DHS between 6 and 7 to enjoy the EMH at DHS that evening. What would be the best way to get to DHS from Epcot? I understand there is a boat option or a bus. Are there pros and cons to each? How long would either option take?

From DHS, we would plan to take a bus back to WL. We have never stayed onsite, so I'm trying to do research so that my Dad doesn't think he has to drive and park at each park that we decide to do.

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide!

Bus: leaves from the front of the park, so it night be a better option if you're near the front. Plan on it taking 20 to 30 minutes, including wait time.

Boat: Leaves from the international gateway, so it's a better option than the bus if you're in the world showcase.Plan on it taking 25 to 35 minutes, including wait times.

Walking: My personal favorite. Leaving out of the international gateway it's a 15 to 25 minute walk.

Have to agree with Alesia...yet again!! I love the walk from Epcot to DHS. Let me share my favorite boat vs walking story. My friend and I got to the boat dock, at the International Gateway (Epcot's backdoor) just as they were closing the doors to the boat. The CMs yelled that another boat would be along in about 15 or 20 mins. We yelled back..'Nope, we'll walk and beat you to DHS!!' They yelled back..'Yeah, we don't think so...game on.' So, the boat pulled away, and my friend and I started our walk. Granted, the boat beat us to BW (first stop for them) by about a min. But, as they were still loading passengers, we headed to the left at the Village Green, cut through Luna Park (BW's pool area) and onto the walkway to DHS. The last we saw of the boat was it pulling away towards YC/BC.
We didn't speed walk...just our normal walking pace, which is probably a tad faster than some people would walk, but not much. So....as we got to the DHS area, and we walked towards the bag check area, we saw the boat coming down the canal. It still had not arrived at the dock as we headed to the turnstiles. We beat the boat by about 5 mins.

So, if the boat is there, loading, then get onboard. But, if there is no boat at the dock, or you can't see one coming in, and you don't want to wait, and walking is okay with your group, head to BW. As I said, when you get to the Village Green area (behind the bike rental area, across from the docks), head to Wyland Galleries...on the right of the Green. You will see a tunnel like area. Walk through...you are now at Luna Park. Stay to the left, go behind the slide. You will come right out on the walkway to DHS...go left and you're good to go. Should take less than 20 mins from Epcot to DHS on foot.

If you're in the front of Epcot, you can just take the bus to DHS.

Hi all!
My question is about parks to DTD. I know there is no direct bus, etc.

I am considering taking the bus to Port Orleans or SSR or OKW.

Is it a matter of whichever bus comes first, I should jump on? Or, is one resort better for the transfer than another?

At the resorts which bus stop would you get off to transfer to DTD boat?

How far/long is the walk to DTD from SSR?

If you want to walk, take the bus to SSR & get off at the Congress Park station. It's about 1/2 mi. from there to DTD Mktplace, near RF Cafe.

If you want to boat, I would suggest either PO or OKW. At PO, if the bus goes to FQ first, get off there. The caveat is that the boats load at Riverside South and then FQ, so at peak times (late afternoon) there may not be room for you at FQ.

At OKW, the boats load behind Hospitality House, but that's the 5th stop for the park buses. You can possibly catch a boat sooner by getting off at the first stop, Peninsular Rd., and walking a very short distance back across the bridge and across the street to the dock.

At SSR, the boats load near the Springs station, but it's a pretty good hike from the bus stop to the boat dock. You might as well just get off at Congress Park and walk.

If you're going bus all the way, go to any of the 3 resorts you mentioned, and transfer at the first stop. Except from AK when BB is open: it's probably faster to transfer either at AKL Kidani Village, Pop Century, or CBR Jamaica station.

I have a question. I have never stayed at Ft. Wilderness before so I can't really help my friend who will be staying there in an RV next month. So I'm asking you guys. She wanted to know how long it would take on average to get from a campsite to the MK. Thanks.

On the nights the MK is open until 1am, will it be possible to take the boat back to WL? Also for ADR at the Crystal place at 8am will the boats be open as early as 7:30?

Hi- My husband and I are leaving on Monday for our first trip ever to WDW!! I have been working on this since July but still feel overwhelmed with all there is to know, especially the whole transportation thing. I am wondering:

1. how much time should we give ourselves to get from MK to the Poly for a late breakfast reservation? We are planning on taking the monorail because I read that was the quickest way.

2. how much time should we give ourselves to get from the MK to the GF for dinner reservations? Again, assuming it is fastest, we will take the monorail.

Thanks so much!!

Are there resort specific buses at the TTC? I know there are Park buses there, but I was wondring if there were resort buses there too.

I was hoping we could walk to the TTC (while staying at the poly) and then catch a bus to the Boardwalk!

No, as far as I know, the only buses you can pick up at the TTC are for AK and DHS; the resort buses pick up and drop off at the main gate. You would have to take the monorail to the MK and pick up a bus there.

Correct.

We are staying at the Grand Floridian and have a 7:30 am breakfast reservation at The Wave on Sunday, Jan 29. Any boat or monorail then? Mk opens at 9, no am EMH. We are planning on walking to MK and taking the boat back in the afternoon. I would have to take a cab in the morning, I guess. Or maybe I could get a bus to MK, walk to CR, eat and walk back to MK. If I did that what time should I leave GF to make it to The Wave before 7:30 am.

The resort monorail will be running at 7am. It will take you about 10-13 mins to get from GF over to the CR via the monorail. We had a 7:40 ADR at CM's one time...staying at the Polynesian. We were on the first monorail run at 7:00. Got there with time to spare.
There are no buses running from GF to MK.

Will the resort monorail that starts at 7am stop at the MK? We are staying at WL and have 8am ADR at the CP. can we take the boat the the CR and then take the monorail to the MK?
