Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Oh, I thought of one more. :) Can you tell me the fastest way to get from the Fort back to the Poly on a MVMCP night around 9:15 p.m. or so?

I was thinking boat to Contemporary and then resort monorail to Poly. What do you think?

If I'm trying to go from DHS to DTD which stop should I get off at when we reach Saratoga Springs if I just want to walk over? And about how long would the walk take?
The stop is Congress Park, which will be the 4th stop at the resort. The walk is about 1/2 mi. to the Rainforest Cafe, so about 10 minutes on average. That will usually be the fastest, but if you happen to see a DTD bus pulling in behind the bus you're getting off of, just hop onto it.

I think you're right. But if the MK boat comes along before the CR boat is in sight, you can ride it and then get either the monorail or the boat from MK to Poly.

We are attempting 3 parks in one day. We are starting at Hollywood Studios to ride TSM. From there we are going to EPCOT. How long is the walk from HS to the International Gateway, or should we bus to the front gate? We are heading to Soarin asap. Thanks

It's a little over a mile walk from DHS to the IG at EPCOT so figure about 20-25 minutes, you could also take the boat which should take about the same amount of time assuming you don't have to wait for the boat.

What is the fastest way to get from EPCOT to DHS?
The bus from the front of Epcot to DHS is about 10 minutes, plus up to 20 minutes waiting for the bus to arrive.

As in the immediately preceding post, if you're in WS, around GB or France, you can walk out the International Gateway and walk to DHS in about 30 minutes.

Which is better? Must you pay to park at the Boardwalk? Would like to have dinner at Big River Grille on the night of our arrival. Thanks!

Driving will be much faster and no you do not have to pay to park at the Boardwalk, but if you don't want to walk a fair distance from self parking, possibly from across the street behind the Hess gas station, you can choose to valet park for $12 plus tip, thus shortening the walk.

Hi all! This is my first post to the forum, please do not have me drawn and quartered if this has been asked before. I looked and didn't find anything, so forgive me.

My teen aged daughters and I are flying into MCO at 4:50pm on Friday, February 3rd. I have booked us on the 6:45pm Pirates and Pals Voyage, which sets sail from the Contemporary resort. We're using Disney's Magical Express and staying at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. If I check in online, will we have time to get to the CBR, grab our keys and stuff and get to the Contemporary, or will we be marooned? Does anyone know the current (and fastest) transportation options from CBR to the Contemporary? I was thinking bus to MK or TTR and monorail to the Contemporary, is that feasible? Thanks so much for your help!

I hate to say it, but you need to reschedule your cruise.

You will likely arrive at CBR around 6:15. I would imagine that, like most things, you're supposed to check in 30 minutes before the cruise. Even if you take a cab to the contemporary, you won't make it and your money won't be refunded.

I have to agree with the PP. Reschedule. It can take 90 minutes to get to your resort using DME. It might be quicker, but certainly not guaranteed. Chances are very slim that you make connections just right and get there on time. Much more likely that you literally miss your boat, and no refunds.

Really? It takes more than an hour to get from MCO to the resort? I figured 30 minutes minimum, but an hour and a half seems excessive, even making a couple of stops along the way. When I booked I was told to be at the Contemporary 15 minutes prior to the 6:45 start time. Is it that unreasonable to expect to get there at around 6:30 in early February? Crowd levels are at their lowest, and I can't imagine that there would be that many people using the transportation at that time of day.

The actual drive from MCO to WDW takes about 30 to 40 minutes, but that isn't the only factor. If your plane lands at 4:50, you won't actually step off the plane until at least a few minutes after 5:00. From there it will take you another 15 minutes to get to the DME area. You will probably have to wait 10 or 15 minutes for a bus. Once you get on the bus, you still have about 40 minutes until you get to the resort. That puts you at CBR about 6:05 in the best case scenario. Even if you quickly stashed your carryons and took a cab to the contemporary, you would still risk missing the boat. That's a lot of money to be out.

Also, there is definitely a chance that your plane could be delayed for weather or something else. If you miss the cruise your money won't be refunded. I would never book a pre-paid reservation for arrival day.

ETA: Another thing to keep in mind is that your flight times will probably change between now and then. If your flight is pushed back even 15 minutes, you won't make it.

Oh, I gotcha. Sorry, I'm used to getting on and off of airplanes with a quickness. We got back to the US from Afghanistan on Thanksgiving, and just got back home last week. I've been whisked on and off of planes so quickly and easily for the last year, I had forgotten that in the real world airports take forever to navigate. I'll reschedule for another day, there's no way I want to be out that kind of money and not enjoy the cruise. Thanks for the advice.

You're welcome.

And, by the way, if you have transportation questions don't bother to search this thread - it's pretty unwieldy. Just feel free to ask it here. We're not known for our pixie dust, but we're actually a pretty friendly bunch :)

Yeah it's a good thing you're rescheduling :) I also thought of booking something the day we arrive, but decided against it as it's too much of a risk if there's any kind of delays on the planes. And I would even have more time than you as my plane lands 4.10 pm and I was considering buying tickets for Cirque de Soleil that day.

Welcome to the Transportation board!!! You've already had some really good advice. I will add this....plan on it taking up to 90 mins to get from gate to resort. Why? Your arrival time of 4:50 is touchdown time. Add another 15 mins to get to the gate and then off the plane...could actually take 20 mins. Then, you have to take the tram over to the main terminal....5-10 mins depending on how quickly you get on one. Then, the 5-10 min trek down to DME. And then you could get right on a bus, but more likely you will have a bit of a wait...so between 3 and 15 mins. Then, a possible wait of up to 15 mins on the bus, and then the 35 min (average time) ride to your resort...could be shorter or longer depending on which stop you are.
Then, 15 mins to get checked in. Then, over to the MK bus stop, wait for the bus. Get to MK, walk over to CR.
So, while it is only a 30 drive to WDW from MCO, unless you are being picked up right at the plane and driven directly to your resort, it's not going to be 30 mins. The least amount of time it has taken me is 45 mins...gate to resort. But, I had a car sevice with carryon bags only. Otherwise it's going to take at least an hour, with checked baggage, and a car service. And longer with DME.

And of course, there is that added fun of a possible equipment issue with the plane. I had a 7am flight out of Boston on Jetblue a few weeks ago....finally got to WDW at 2:30!!! Should have been there at 11:30...flight and DME combined. but we had to wait 3 hrs for a new plane to arrive. And I missed something that started at 1:30..so, don't plan on anything special on arrival day. Too risky.

This is our first trip without a car so trying to figure out the buses. We are staying at board walk & want to go to the poly for breakfast. What's the easiest way? Thanks so much!

Bus to MK, monorail to Polynesian....leave plenty of time. When you get on the MK bus, at BW, ask the driver which is faster to the Polynesian....boat or monorail..the driver may very well offer to drop you right at the Polynesian on the way out.
Or, a cab.

Orlando and WDW is actually going to be the 2nd leg of an international trip I'm taking next month. My first leg will be from from NYC to Central America, but I will be arriving Orlando from Central America, then back to NYC. (I'm a US citizen.)

When I use ME, I guess I'll have to clear customs and possibly immigration with my bag. Where does this happen? On the 2nd Floor? Do I need to go back up to three and cross over to B side if necessary? I'll be arriving on Copa Airlines. So I guess I'll not put my ME tag on my bag and take it on the ME bus myself. When I check-in at the hotel, will there be porters to assist me with my bag (though it is on wheels, I may not know where I'm going to locate my room).

My flight is scheduled to arrive at about 3:00 p.m. and I'm staying at Pop Century. I've scheduled an ADR for the 8:30 Hoop-Dee-Doo show over at Fort Wilderness. Is that going to be a problem? At least there shouldn't be snow delays coming from Central America. :)

When I return back to NYC, and check my bag for the flight at my resort, do I understand it that my checking in at my hotel I will lose the seat I have already chosen on my Continental flight back? Maybe I misread something on these boards? I'd like to check my bag, weigh it so I don't go over 50 lbs, and I know Continental will charge me $25 for it. But my flight back is around 6:30 p.m. and I'd like to stay in the park that day. I'd probably like to check my carry-on bag with bell services and retrieve it before getting on the bus. Would I probably depart Pop Century around 3:30 p.m.?

Anyway, would appreciate your advice for my situation -- I guess it's the arriving from the international location which makes it a bit complicated. Thanks in advance.
