Calling all GL fans!!!!!

I noticed there were threads for other soaps, but didn't find one for this show, so I figured I'd start my own.

I have watched ATWT and GL as long as I can remember. I'm 31 now, so some of the earliest stories I remember were when Reva first came to town, and Nola and Quint's romance.

I write the scoops for all the soaps for TVMegasite, which I usually get from Soap Opera Digest and Soap Opera Weekly. What do you think of the new Dinah? Are you as sick of the whole Antimonious story as I am? Let's get talking!

I have not seen a soap since my kids were toddlers...back when Nola was after Kelly. I had started watching them with my grandmother in the 50s...back when most soaps were 15 minutes long..way back in the days of Bert Bauer and Papa Bauer..and the "kids" Mike and Ed.

On ATWT I actually remember when Lisa and Bob were teens...when Lisa got pregnant with Tom. As far as I know the same actors are still portraying Lisa and Bob....can you imagine playing the same role for 50 years?

As stated, I have not seen these shows since the 80s...but I remember them fondly......they certainly helped this SAHM get through many a Canadian winter afternoon.....

I'm the fourth generation of women in my family to watch both ATWT and GL--me, my mom, my grandma, and my great grandma. Grandma and Great Grandma listened to GL on the radio.

I'm not certain I watch this one enough to really discuss details, lol, but if someone could explain why Phillip has turned into an **** I would appreciate it. I have loved Phillip since back in high school when it was Phillip, Rick, Mindy, and Beth and the molestation storyline. I thought Phillip was given drugs to have everyone think he was nuts and then was sent to the hospital (probably by his father/aunt) and then Olivia married him to rescue him from the hospital. Apparently, that must not be what happened since he hates Olivia with such venom now.

I watched this one way back (more so than now) when the Kelly/Morgan/Nola storyline was big. While I don't remember the character's name, I remember Kevin Bacon being on the show. That gorgeous actor was played Kelly went on to play Kim Hughes stalker on ATWT and then the Flash in primetime tv.

Remember Tony Reardon & Annabelle and the ghost story?

I loved the Vanessa/Billy Lewis storyline. Whatever happened to Vanessa? Did they have her char die? I remember her being ill.

Someone tell me how many children does Reva have now?? It seems like they kept showing up, lol.

Ahhh, the Reva/Josh/Annie storyline - wow, that was a fun time!

I still like Danny & Michelle although I think I liked one of the other Michelle's better than the current Michelle.

Two actors I really miss were the bad guys - the original Alan Spaulding (I heard he died of cancer) who probably was about equal to the James Stenbeck char, and the actor who played Roger Thorpe, who sadly died of ALS. They were some scary men!

I remember watching TGL as a kid and teen with my sister. That was when Kevin Bacon was on the show.

I know a man who used to be on that show. He grew up about a mile away from me. His real name is Danny Doby. He has performed on Broadway. I dont remember seeing him on TGL but he told me at one time he was a love interest to Reva and Vanessa.

Anyone remember him and the character he played?

I have watched GL since I was a little girl before I started school. I use to really enjoy it now I watch it as I am in and out of the room. There is hope for it now though they are talking about some of teh history of the show more. I just wish they would end the Sandy story soon and tell us who he really is. I know taht every summer they always focus on the teens of town but it doesn't seem the same as when Phillip, Mindy Rick and Beth were teens. Those were the good days. also I miss some of the cast that they don't show that often--Holly Lillian.

I feel old! My mom listened to it on radio and then turned me on to it during Quint/ Nola and when Reva came to town as well. My mom actually had Rheumantic Fever and was bed ridden for three months as a kid and she convinced her Tutor to come after GL! Her mom was none too happy!


I still watch it, though only out of memory of my mom. It has gotten pretty bad over the years. The last good stroy I remember was Richard finding "Katherine" aka Reva. I hope it gets better with Ellen Wheeler heading things up. I am hating making Gus lie to Harley, but I guess they need some conflict. I was just hoping Harley could do some of the betraying for a change!

Phillip just plain went nuts. In the sanitarium Olivia told him that their baby was dead (to protect her from Lizzie), that sent him all the way over the edge. She then married him while he was semi catitonic and had him sign his proxy over to her so she could get the company from the Spauldings for her little girl was the story. Then at Cassie's arm twisting she told him the baby was alive and then he started getting better, and really, really mad. I am not sure if they are playing him turning into Alan or if he will get better once he puts Olivia in her place, if he does. It kind of reminds me of when he took Spaulding away from Alan in the 80's and managed to make everyone hate him in the process. I wonder if they are trying to get us to have sympathy for Olivia? I think this Phil is here for a while.

Kevin Bacon played a character named Tim Werner. I believe he played a teen alcoholic.

That was John Wesley Shipp. He also played Dawson's father on Dawson's Creek, until they killed him off.

No, Vanessa didn't die. After her daughter, Dinah, shot and killed Hart, Dinah went on the run. Vanessa, her husband Matt, and their baby daughter, Maureen, soon followed. I'm sure the baby will reappear soon as a 25-year-old.

Well, let's see: Reva has Dylan with Billy, she miscarried a child with H.B., then she had Marah and Shayne with Josh. While she thought she was Princess Katherine (and before she was Amish ), she had Jonathan with Prince Richard. Sandy showed up, claiming to be Jonathan, but it looks like he is going to turn out to be an imposter.

I always wondered why they never did a DNA test with Sandy. Olivia didn't recognize him, did she. You may be right.

Phil being drugged would cause more strife with Alex, which is always more fun than them getting along!

I really don't think Phillip was drugged. He just cracked under the pressure.

I just found this thread. I watch GL when I get the chance, these days that's once every couple weeks if I'm lucky! (I'm a SAHM with 3 little boys, so at 3pm you'll find things like Barney and Scooby Doo on our TV...) But I do love it.

Does it bother anyone else that Cassie and Edmund are together? I can't help it, I still hate him! LOL! And I love her so I wish she was with someone else. (Like Richard still! )

I really didn't get Cassie and Edmund at first, but I think they've grown on me. Of course, I'd rather she had Richard, but.. actually, to be honest, I like Bradley Cole's look as Jeffrey better. I go more for scruffy-faced, longer-haired men. You should see my husband.

This weekend, I may get the chance to see Frank Dicopolous, Beth Ehlers, and Ricky Paull Goldin (Frank, Harley, and Gus), as well as Michael Park and Maura West (Jack and Carly, ATWT), at a local mall. If I do, I'll try to post a few pics here.

Last Sunday, I attended a meet and greet at a local mall, where I got to see Frank Dicopolous, Beth Ehlers, and Ricky Paull Goldin (Frank, Harley, and Gus)! There were also two actors from ATWT. I thought I'd post a few pics for you:

This is a slow thread, I guess there aren't a lot of GL fans on this board! bummer!
