*Official* DWTS 2012 Thread

* Carson is fun, but worse than even Elizabetta. I'd like to have him stick around just for the entertainment value.

But, that goes far. He's really prancy. And he seems to do disco type moves well. So he can look really good for a while entertaining people.

Well, that was underwhelming. There were a few duds. At least no one stood out as the obvious dancer.

ETA:

I liked Chaz too, but I think his weight will be a problem. He isn't as much of a "twinkle toes" like many bigger guys are. My concerns about him not being masculine enough did not come true but I will totally reserve judgment until I see him dance a ballroom dance.

Oh come on. Ricki Lake is NOT an ex-dancer anymore than Meryl Streep is for acting in Mamma Mia, or Kevin Bacon is for Footloose.

BTW, I was SO proud of Chaz! He really did well. Most of the cast was pretty good to VERY good. Even Nancy Grace surprised me with how well she did. The only weak spot...Ron Artest. It was like watching Frankenstein.

i thought everyone did okay except elisabetta and carson. carson was AWESOME to watch, but the dancing was bad, lol, and while elisabetta is beautiful, no doubt, she's definitely the worst of the bunch.

LOVED chaz! loved how he just got out there and went for it, and nancy grace, while not great by any stretch of the imagination, was better than i expected. i was very pleasantly surprised by chynna and ricki-wasn't expecting much, but am glad they both did well. of course, derek's partners always do well, but it's great to see tony get a decent partner.

Carson is a hoot, he struts like a chicken! I like him and hope he stays around for a few weeks.

Chaz did well, but as a PP said, his weight could really hinder him in the weeks to come. I voted for him, I want to see more.

Ron Artest - could not stand him! He made my skin crawl the way he had his hands all over the girls during the interview (and he can't dance)

LOVED David Arquette!! (another vote)

I didn't realize Nancy Grace was so heavy, she did OK.

Oh, I forgot JR Martinez - he was absolutely wonderful (got two votes!)

Bet the happy pill bottle only had one dose in it and he took that last night. It's not gonna last. Ol' cranky pants will be back in full force.

Hey! Carson can dance! Anna has finally got a partner who can outshine her.

I thought he'd be a crier. He may still be when the pressure is on in later weeks. Anyone paired with Anna should cry.

Carson was having a blast out there on the dance floor.

J.R. wasn't bad!! I didn't realize he was going to be on the soon.....happy to see him. LOVE him on All My Children!!

For week one, JR was the stand out for me. He did very well. And as much as I can't stand Karina, I had to vote for JR, IMHO he was the best of the night. I think he is going to be at a disadvantage for votes, seeing who he is dancing with - there are many who will NOT vote for any dance she dances with no matter how good - plus he's not a familiar name/face to the vast majority of viewers.

I'm not a fan of Nancy Grace. But last night, I have to admit, she impressed me. I always have mad respect for a person brave enough to come out of their comfort zone and dance. She brought it! So my favorites were Nancy, Rikki Lake, David Arquette, and Chaz. They all got a vote from me.

Elisabetta was horrible. I agreed with the judges comments. I figured the fact that she's only known for being Clooney's ex, her not being able to dance on her own was fitting. My daughter asked me who she was. I told her she was George Clooney's ex. She said, "oh"

Ron, OMG, I felt dirty after watching him dance. So gross.

OK ... it appears that she quit dance classes when she was 12:

She is not a whole lot different, IMO, than Jennifer Gray. I just wish King Derek was given someone like Nancy Grace or Elizabetta instead of someone who has actually worked as a dancer. I really like Ricki and Carson but their pros are going to make it hard for me to root for them .

As for Mama Mia ... I don't know if we should laud or shoot the casting agent. It is the strangest cast musical ever! Piece Brosnon singing? Really? And somehow ... I don't know how ... it works. I love that movie.

They just showed Courtney & Coco. You know David will be around for a while for the show to keep showing them.

OK, did anyone else think that was really odd? In the interview with the (horrid) Brooke, she asked him about Coco being proud but not a word about Courtney. IMHO, since CC is a celeb, you mention both or neither but ignoring the proverbial elephant in the room was weird.

And now Rikki is an overweight has-been who had a role that involved dancing (nothing even remotely like ballroom dancing) in a movie 23 YEARS AGO (1988). Hardly a shoe-in for the crown, but she did very well last night, and I don't think most people buy the "but but but, she has dancing experience!" as the reason for her super effort.



I had no idea who JR was but I thought he was tremendous!

Thought Chynna, Ricki, Chaz did really great.

Loved Nancy's enthusiasm but I also did not realize how heavy she was … I saw her recently on a TMZ clip and I thought she was pregnant. She does carry allot of belly fat. I think DWTS will be a perfect opportunity to lose some of that weight. Chaz as well. He will be too exhausted to continue unless he drops some weight. OR either of them could injure themselves.

Did not really care for Elizabetta or Hope.

Ron, Ugh. While I did feel terrible that his little 4yo DD had cancer … there was definitely an ugh factor with him. So his new name: Metta World Peace…

Ron Artest's handlers had to talk about his child.. otherwise he'd have NO redeeming qualities. He acted like a horny teenager with 12 hands. Nauseating. His new name should be Metta Negro PLEASE.

I think it was written in his contract that the show couldn't ask/say anything about him & Courtney. This way, he wouldn't be put in an awkward position. Like, what if Courtney files for divorce the morning he dances?

Although, as you said, it was also awkward with her sitting right there, that she wasn't mentioned. I was surprised she was even there. She made sure she faced away from the camera when it was on her & Coco.

I'm glad Cheryl didn't end up with the guy who is all hands again. I have often thought her book released last season, about her sexual abuse, was in response to being (seemingly) pawed at by one of her previous partners and that the producers just didn't give a fig through much of it, thinking she was overreacting, if she complained.
