Official DL July 2015 thread

So has anyone watched the videos of the new stuff yet? I am debating if I want to be surprised in July... but I should be more real - I'm never going to be able to wait!!

OK July folks - how on earth will I be able to wait until JULY to get to DLR??

I just found links to full length videos of all three shows: http://disneydose.com/disneyland-60th-anniversary-entertainment/#axzz3asTu9WBN
I only watched bits and pieces of each show (so far resisted watching the entire shows)

Fireworks: Wow - the extra projections really add to the show. There will be so many more "good spots" to watch it now. Super smart. I think I am going to want to watch this at least 2-3 times from different locations :) The finale was incredible. So. many. fireworks.

Parade: They took MSEP and upped it like 100 times. The new floats are just so cool. My kids will enjoy the new music better too (more current). The Peter Pan float (near the beginning) was really cool and Mickey was super fun (last float).

World of Color: They took an amazing show and its still awesome. That said, the bits and pieces I have seen of the original look just as amazing so I don't know if its been plused or just refreshed. Since I like Neil Patrick Harris, I am happy with his addition. I loved the effects of how he and Mickey controlled the water jets. The finale was WOW.

TWO more months!!!!!

TWO more months!!!!!

Only 55 more days before we are at DL! My DD showed me some of the videos and we are getting very excited for our trip! Yes, we are also planning to watch the fireworks and parades from different locations. Everything done including our meal reservations, just have to order Photopass Plus and pack! :-)

I managed to get in on a Photopass+ share with a couple of other families - one of the other ladies is taking care of ordering the PP+. This reminds me, I have to send her my money.

I am waiting one more month to buy my Ridemax subscription. I feel so at a loss since there is nothing much to plan!

We are getting so excited for our 7/17-7/22 trip! Dd gets to choose on 7/17, because that is her birthday and I get to choose 7/22, because that is mine. So far she has Carnation Cafe for breakfast. She is hoping to do Fireworks and Parade for her birthday, but I cannot get my head around what that will look like on the anniversary day. I cannot book my day until tomorrow, but for sure I am booking the Blue Bayou Fantasmic option and we are hoping to stay in our 'seats' and watch the fireworks projected from there. Looking forward to hearing more and more about what is happening for the 60th so we can get our plans in order.

We will be getting PhotoPass+ even tho it will be a busy time. It is the only way I have photos of myself usually. Also, we are traveling with a lot of family so I will combine all our cards to make it cost effective.

Our plans always consist of booking flights, hotel, Photopass+ and any meals that we are interested in. We don' t do too much planning regarding which rides we will go on since we just enjoy being at DL and wandering around. For one of our meals, we are going to try Minnie's Plaza since this is one character breakfast that we haven't tried yet. Also, DD wanted to eat at Ariel's again since she is a big fan of characters - we know that we will see the princesses in DL but it's something that she wanted to do. I just want to start packing! DD and I planned on Disneybounding on some days but still needed to go thru our ideas together. We are also planning our July 17th outfit to fit in with the diamond theme.

How exciting for your DD to have the same birthday as DL! And for yours on the 22nd! My DD's birthday is on Nov 18 which is Mickey's birthday so we got a nice pic of the two of them together the last time we were in DL. It is hard to imagine what the 17th will look like so we just left most of the day free and reserved a late lunch/early dinner at Big Thunder BBQ - we thought that with the crowds, it might be nice to sit at a quieter spot and re-charge. We always get Photopass+ and after editing, we end up with over 600 pics! We think that it is a good deal! :)

Good idea - I should get to work on our outfits. We love matching clothes, particularly at Disney. Disneybounding would be fun and I've looked up a bunch of ideas. However, last time I went shopping I got discouraged and frustrated (particularly since I don't want to spend much). I'll just have to get creative!

I know what you mean about the 17th. I'm leaving it as a completely open day. I did book an 11:30am lunch at BB and a 6pm dinner at Carnation Cafe. I figure a reserved table service meal will be a blessing on a day like this!

I'm a little worried about the all-night lineups. I'm soooo tempted to go sit in line overnight, but I think I may regret it in line LOL! I don't know if I have the stamina. Not sure if the giveaway/experience would be worth it. I mentioned it to my kids...my son said he can "stay up all night" and that he wanted to do it. I doubt I will allow it since he can "stay up all night", but will likely keel over afterwards. I reminded him that he's the one who made my DH take him back to the hotel room after Fantasmic ended at 10pm at WDW while the rest of us went on to MK until 1am close. Naturally, my DH thinks I'm nuts and said "no way".

I know what you mean about not spending too much on Disneybounding outfits. We are trying to work with what we have from our closets and since it is a summer visit, we don't have to pack as much clothes as we would for our Nov trips.

If we are around Carnation Cafe at 6pm, I will give you a wave! LOL

DD wants to do the overnight line up thing too... I am not so sure myself. I do like my bed and sleep! We will be arriving on the Thursday in the morning so we will just see how we feel as the day go by. Since, it is just the two of us, it's much easier for us to make last minute plans. Also, we don't like to carry too much with us in the parks and I am not sure about how cold it will be overnight and if we will be needing jackets etc.

How old is your son? My DD is 13 and is a great age to go to DL with ... we are leaving DH and DD (18) at home. They will get to experience the 60th when we visit again in Dec - will be there between Christmas and New Years. Gonna be packed but it's Disneyland so all is good! :)

My dd would like to do the overnight line up. I am trying to convince her it is NOT necessary! That will be our first park day and I'm worried it will mess us up for the rest of the trip. We do have 2 non park days available to use whenever we need though, so maybe we do that as a once in a lifetime thing/experience and sleep on the 18th? Hahaha. My dd is turning 13 that day and I am expecting her to be amazing this year. She was 10.5 the last time we went and was a pretty good park-goer, but still chose a late night swim with Grandma over another run on RSR with her parents. She swears this year she will NOT make a hotel pool friend so she won't feel the pull to get back there to 'play'. ha!

I also told my DD that it is not necessary to line up overnight but she asked 'when will we ever get a chance to do it again?' I told her that she is young and only 13 but I am not! So, we are still debating. :teeth: She used to be a 'pool' girl too ... I remember going to WDW for her first visit and as soon as we arrived at the Caribbean Beach Resort, she wanted to swim! :fish:LOL Luckily, she is now more of a park girl and we are pretty compatible when it comes to our touring styles.

I think what may get me in the end is that my mantra is generally, "We seldom regret the things we DO" and dd for sure always remembers that in decision making moments like this!

Please do wave :) It would be fun if a quick meet up works out! I've always managed to meet up with at least one other DIS'er during our WDW trips and it's always fun, even if it is only for a few minutes.

My DS will be 13 this year so technically can handle an overnight lineup. But unless there are lots of exciting things going on endlessly, he's more the type to crash and burn without adequate sleep.

I don't know if I can resist the siren call of the overnight lineup LOL! I was reading the live feeds from last night and wishing I could be there. I'm in trouble...

I already have July 18th planned as a rest day as I expect us to be completely wiped out.

I like the way you think! You folks may just enable me to do this incredibly foolish thing LOL! We should meet up for the overnight lineup and suffer together.

Yup, our motto sometimes is 'You only live once' and 'Why not?' so we might be seeing you in line! :wave2: LOL

That would be so cool to meet up even for a few minutes - always enjoy sharing with fellow DIS'ers who love DL as much as we do!

Funny how we both have 13 yr olds! LOL My DD sometimes takes DL more seriously than I do. She was sending me all the 60th pics and info all afternoon!

I wish I was there right now too, I have been checking the webcam and getting all excited! :thumbsup2

Wouldn't it be funny if we did meet up in line and did the overnight thing? :goodvibes

My DD is 14 so not much older. Unfortunately, while she loves Disney, she doesn't share my obsessions for trip planning. She just rolls her eyes at me when I try to show her photos and videos. That said, last Christmas I set her on a project to create me a Powerpoint presentation - 30 days to Disney with a photo and a poem/saying for each day. She had so much fun doing that! She laughs at me because I get very absorbed in whatever I am doing and often don't hear her trying to get my attention. But all she has to do is say, "Disney!" and immediately I look up! ROFL...who knew I was as bad as all that?

DD is only 13 but sometimes, I feel like she is my equal - which probably means that I act more like a kid? :hyper: When it comes to Disney planning, I am the one who looks at my DD's school calendar and then once we pick a date - I start working on the flights, book the hotel and then check with her to see what type of things that she would like to experience. We still have things that we want to do or see but never got around to it. DD is more of a character seeking type of girl. She loves taking photos with characters and getting autographs. As for me, I am just happy to be at DL and don't mind waiting in line with her. She is also the one who keeps up with the Disney news and relays them to me. I am the one who is on the Disboards! :)
