On a positive note- I did contact the Yacht Club today to order a white chocolate Donald for my DH to be delivered to Yachtsman Steakhouse. I asked for gold accents on it and was quoted $40.55. My DH will love it!!

I also contacted the Contemporary about ordering a mini cake to be delivered to CRT for my DH as an anniversary gift. I asked for white frosting, marble cake and Bailey's mousse filling (yummy!). Wanting lavendar garland like decoration with lavendar flowers. Not sure if they'll be able to do it, but asked if they could create a white chocolate filigree heart with a hidden Mickey in the filigree, to stand next to/ behind the cake. It would be just a bit taller than the cake itself. Would like frosting flowers on the plate in front of the heart. I hope they can do it!!! Hopefully I'll hear back from them tomorrow!

I know the someone got a custom cake at Epcot with Mickey ears on top and I know lurkyloo has mentioned several times that Epcot now can do fancy cakes. Perhaps this is another time where it all depends on the CM you talk to how much they will cooperate? Maybe try calling another day and speak with a different CM??? Sigh...

I had thought about calling again tomorrow to see if I get a different answer. :thumbsup2

I wonder if anyone could help with this?- We are eating at the Garden Grill (Epcot) and my son would like a Jack Sparrow cake for his birthday.

Has anybody ever had a Jack Sparrow themed cake - I was thinking maybe a 6" with a screen print of Jack Sparrow?

Any ideas, suggestions welcome.

Thanks

I was wondering how hard it was to have a cake delivered to POR? I would like to do a villians theme and have it delivered on our arrival day in October.

The tough part about POR is getting ahold of someone to order the cake from. They don't seem to answer their phone very often.

I tried to just order a fancy cake (not fondont) to be delivered to Coral Reef but was told I really couldn't get anything too fancy in a 6" cake.

It sounds like even though they do offer fancy cakes now, they're doing what Animal Kingdom Lodge does and some of the other Deluxe Resorts used to do, where they'd refuse to customize (with fondant) anything smaller than a 10-inch cake. What's weird is, when I spoke with Epcot, they said they'd do mini cakes, so I don't know why the prejudice against 6-inch and 8-inch cakes. If it were me, I'd keep bugging them and try to get them to relent, and if that failed, I'd just bite the bullet and pay for a stoopid 10-inch cake that we couldn't possibly finish. :sad2:

Does anyone have a picture of what the podium cake looks like there? Can they write her name on it at all?

Here's an Epcot podium cake. They can write on the plate sometimes, but not on the cake. (Well, once we got them to write "Bon Voyage" but that's short!)

Disney can't put a screen print on anything smaller than an 8-inch cake. :thumbsup2

When I think bright, I almost always think yellow. It's got more pop than white, but is still light enough to make a decent blank canvas. I also am a big fan of framed edible images around the side of the cake when dealing with multiple characters. i.e. kind of like edible portraits hanging on the "wall" of the cake. Ex. an oval shaped edible image of Donald could be framed in blue and red striped fondant framing, a similar image of Minnie could be framed in red w/white dots, and so on. I'd likely leave Mickey for the top and either do a 2D edible standup or the 3D white chocolate topper. You could then surround him in fondant confetti, streamers, balloons, etc. A fondant ball style border around the base of the cake in colors and designs like the frames and streamers would also probably look nice.

Alternately, if you went with Partysaurus Rex- you could go a number of ways with the cake color/design. Personally, I love it when Toy Story themed cakes are done in sky blue with clouds. For Rex...I think you'd want a 2D edible stand up of him dressed as such...you could probably decorate the base of the image and the base border of the cake with edible strung beads similar to what he wears.

I hope both of these make sense...but I know verbal descriptions aren't always the greatest.

Either one could be done in buttercream or fondant. My only concern is that they may suggest you bump up to an 8" cake. While it costs more and is more food, it also gives them more room to carry out the design. The GF seems better about taking more elaborate designs and using them on 6" cakes.

Thank you so much for the great ideas. I am gonna hopefully call next week and place the order. Just have to decide which one I want to go with. Thank again so much!

Ok I looked on the first post and this is what is said that is offered in Norway. So what's the screen print for the 6 inch cake and the 8 inch cake?

6-inch $21 chocolate cake with chocolate frosting or vanilla cake with vanilla frosting and screen-printed chocolate disk décor; no personalization

8-inch $32 chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and chocolate frosting or vanilla cake with white chocolate mousse filling and vanilla frosting; personalization and character screen prints available

That podium cake would be fine, but I thought you could get them with a round Mickey disc on top? Does anyone know? We're thinking Garden Grill for dinner that night.

You can't get a custom screen print on a 6-inch cake. Sometimes there's a screen-printed white chocolate disc with a generic Mickey on it that they will put on top of the 6-inch cakes. It looks like this:

You would need to call and see if the disc is an option. I've only ever seen it on cakes made by the Contemporary resort. Let us know what you find out!

You know, they didn't have any prices, but I would imagine they'd be on the higher end... Maybe $35 or $40 each?

were they cakes or cupcakes? $35-40 for cake fine but not cupcakes, that would be too much for me with all the other vacation planning:scared:

This thread is awesome but it is making my head spin. I need a cake for my partner for La Hacienda at EPCOT on September 15, dinner. Can I assume from this thread that I can just order it when I get there?

This depends as they need at least a few days notice, up to two weeks if it's a more elaborate cake :)

I sent an email to the Contemporary about a mini cake 2 days ago but haven't heard back? Should I call them again to follow-up?

I think they are considered minicakes, so slightly more cake than you'd get in a Sprinkles-sized cupcake. But not much... It's the detail that drives the price up.

If all you want is a 6-inch chocolate/chocolate or vanilla/vanilla "podium cake," then yes. But if you want a custom cake, it's what Disney_Princess83 said. :thumbsup2

:sad1: I just didn't want to have go get such a large cake but that's the route we may have to take. Thanks for your help!

I heard back the next morning, from Brian when I emailed him. However, if you know what you want I would just call. I left a message, the answering machine had said I would hear back from someone within 24 hours.... and I did.

I actually heard from him this morning and was quoted $55. I'm happy! He actually gave me an email where to place my order so getting that done today!

Does anyone know if you can still get those pink treasure chest cakes? At Epcot at Akershus? Do you have to preorder or order at the podium? And the cost? I'm looking for something fun for my daughters third birthday but we are just a party of 5 so I thought that would be perfect. I've only seen a couple pics and not much information about them.

Unfortunately, those were only available as part of the What Will You Celebrate campaign and have been discontinued.

Ok, I paid that much for the rapunzel braid mini cake, I thought they were cupcake size, I can handle that. Thank Lurkyloo :)

we're going to be celebrating my DD's Birthday in Disney next month and I am considering ordering her a cake. Can't have a 6 year old's Birthday without cake, right?! On her Birthday we have CRT breakfast planned and dinner at Trail's End. I'm leaning toward having a mini wedding cake type at the end of our breakfast meal because it's "fancier" according to my DD. Our reservation is at 9:10am, is it possible to have a cake for an early ADR?

Secondly, can the mini cakes be customized at all or does it have to be the white buttercream with the colored tiny mickey heads all over it? I was thinking of still having it buttercream but maybe pink with black mickey heads all over it? Not sure what all is possible. I'm leaning toward the mini cakes because we only have a family of 3 and do not want to figure out what to do with a ton of extra cake after our meal.
