i wanted him to do a monorail cake but he couldn't do it with the other theme i wanted. so his option was to do the monorail amenity/truffles and the themed cake i wanted. there's a link to the chocolate monorail on the Contemporary thread. i can find it if you need. we're goiing in February so i'll def take pics and post the cake part. it sounds pretty cool.

We're going toward the end of Feb. and I'm conjuring up plans for a cake for my twin boys' birthday!!

I have been going back and forth on the same thing.

We are going to California Grill on Sunday night after the races. I have been thinking about an 8 inch round cake with a painted Goofy on the top.
I was thinking about doing a road around the cake or maybe footprints? Was trying to think of other things and all I could come up with would be empty cups like a water station or maybe a replica of the medals (which I am guessing will be very expensive).

Would love to hear any other ideas. I am calling on Wednesday to get it set up.

Not sure if either of you will like this idea...but I had discussed it with a runner friend who was thinking of a cake to celebrate if she did one of the halfs.

We were using the following spinner pin as inspiration...

We thought about having one of the smaller 3d white chocolate castles in the middle/top center of the cake and then a 2D stand up white chocolate Mickey edible image in running gear (like the one on the pin) poised like he's running around the castle in the center. Then there'd be lines/swirls kind of like on the pin to show his trail.

She wound up not being able to travel to run, but I still think the pin is a decent inspiration piece for a Disney run themed cake.

We are staying at Boardwalk during the bakery refurb. Does anyone know how this will affect cake orders? I had wanted to order a birthday cake for in the room.

Sorry, I've been meaning to post pictures. Got busy with the holidays and a family emergency since coming back from our trip. This was good motivation to finally get on the ball, though

I was very pleased. The cake was moist, and the carrot cake/moch mousse combo worked even better than I expected. I haven't eaten much fondant before, but I really liked what Disney used. We ate slices most morning for breakfast, but still had plenty left by the time we went home. Since we drove, it wasn't an issue to pack the leftovers up. Even a week later, the cake hadn't dried out.

As I said in my original post, I emailed Janet at Pop with pictures of what I was looking for design-wise. I just searched for Mulan cakes on Google and saved a few pictures of what I liked. I chose the image I wanted printed on the chocolate cut-out and specified what color I wanted the fondant to be and what I wanted the chocolate banner to say.

My sister loved it, and it was a complete surprise to her. She felt bad about eating Mulan but that didn't stop her.

I hope that helped you a little. The ordering process was a lot easier than I expected. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

That is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I'll be digging through all of these posts!! My husband wants to know if we can just get to the park, look at actual cakes to pick one out then have it delivered to our room (or pick it up if need be).

I'm wondering if there's enough time to do that!

Does anyone know how the payment of the cake is handled? Is it pay as soon as you order? Credit card guarantee? or Payment upon arrival? Thanks in advance!

Also, I emailed the Magic Kingdom email address (2 days ago) and I still haven't gotten a response. How long does it usually take to hear back...is the New Year and the crowds that came with it causing delayed responses?

Yes you can have a cake delivered to breakfast - I had one delivered to Ohana's a couple of years ago

Prices vary depending on how elaborate you want it. Only the bakery can tell you the exact price.

I heard from Chef Brian on Monday--I replied to his question and have not gotten a response. He must be off.

just heard back from chef Brian--- they can't do my cake. I think I am going to re word---to any blueprint design and add a rock-n-roll theme.
