I was reading over the cake filling flavors list. I understand that not every bakery may offer every flavor, but I was curious...has anyone had the passion fruit mousse filling??? And if so, what did you think of it?

Hey Cake Experts! Question about ordering at cake from CR. Can a cake be taken up to the Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower and enjoyed there? Can it be delivered there? If not...can it be delivered to your room? Or can you pick it up?

Thank you so much! i actually rethought it after getting the quote for the jedi mickey figure (SO EXPENSIVE!), and I think I'm going to see if Chef Brian can do a star wars themed cake instead for our lunch at the Wave.

You're a blogger and baker so you should know that Swiss meringue buttercream or French buttercream is what most bakers and pâtissiers consider traditional, classic buttercream and that is what I was referring to. It can be made with egg whites, yolks or whole eggs depending upon the recipe. Stating that "traditional/classic" buttercream is not made with eggs is wrong and in this instance misleading to a woman who needs to know for sure.

What you called "buttercream" is exactly what I explained in one of my previous posts. This is what most Americans call buttercream. Most trained, real bakers and pâtissiers wouldn't let their creations near that recipe.

Funny that you bring this up...I do a lot of cake work on the side for friends and family and I'm always playing around with the "buttercreams" I use to crumbcoat/dirty ice my cakes. For whatever reason- most of the recipes I find are the "traditional" egg based ones. Martha Stewart seems to only go this route.

Im going back to Disneyworld with my girlfriend this year for our 2nd anniversary and i wanted to order her a special cake for our reservation at the california grill, and when i called the cake hotline and talked to someone i told them an idea of what i wanted and she kindve gave me a description of one they have in the book. it sounds close to what i want but im worried im not going to get what im expecting, and its a lot of money. I was under the impression you can get the email of the chef and talk to them directly about what you were looking for. Anybody have any insite on this? im totally new to this.

Thank you :)

I know this is SO NOT DISNEY, but my DD has become a HUGE HP fan reading the first three books in under 2 months!

We are SURPRISING her with a trip to WDW for her birthday, ONE WEEK from TODAY!:banana::banana:

At first she wanted a "Tangled" theme cake...EASY...then CARS 2 came out...CARS themed cake...EASY...now she is HARRY CRAZY, and wants a HP themed cake...NOT SO EASY at WDW, for your surprise birthday trip, crazy little 8 year old!

Has anyone ever had a "Harry" themed cake from WDW? I sure hope so...because, if not I am sooooo out of luck!:confused3

HELP...HELP...HELP...MMMMEEEEEeeeeeeee!

I'm thinking that if you want a HP cake that you will have to order it from an off-site bakery or pick one up at the closest Publix or Wal-mart. WDW can do something Fantasmic or "magical" looking but wouldn't be able to do HP.

Yes, and it was delicious. We originally wanted strawberry, but the CM kept saying, "fruit, right"? The order sheet indicated passion fruit.

Here's my Alice in Wonderland cake from my birthday last year! :cool1:

I love that cake...looks great!!!

You know you can never leave this thread, right? Without you, everyone would be lost!!!!! :worship::worship:

I second that, she is stuck with us :rotfl:.

:rotfl2: Well, until the mods see the wisdom in posting The Complete Cake-Ordering Guide and FAQ as a sticky in the Restaurants forum, I'll be here bailing out the boat with a thimble! :rotfl:

Contemporary Private Dining can deliver a cake to Top of the World or to a room in the hotel. You cannot pick it up.

Call back and ask for the chef's email so you can send details. If they ask why, just explain that what you have in mind is a little hard to describe over the phone.

As the previous poster said, Disney can't do non-Disney licensed characters on a cake. However, you could try something less character-specific but still Potterfied.

What if the cake were Hermione's magic bag? They could put a ruffle around the top edge and all sorts of fondant or chocolate items spilling out the top. Or maybe it could be a cauldron with some, uh, wizardy stuff "floating" on top. Or what if it looked like the sides of the cake were wrapped in a Hogwart's scarf?

I've been reading this thread looking for ideas for a Thanksgiving "mini family reunion" trip. I've seen a few Alice in Wonderland cakes, has anyone done any specific to the Cheshire cat?

Well that is awesome news! :cheer2: Do you recall which bakery made your cake? I have this fear of getting my hopes up just to find out it's only offered at a different bakery.

I have looked through both cake threads and I haven't find a picture of a Villians cake made for a boy. Has anyone had one designed for them? If so, could you post a picture?

Also, what villian characters would you place on a cake for a boy? I just can't think of many.....Captain Hook, Zurg, Jafar

Scar from the lion king. Malificent as the dragon, The guy from incredibles, Gaston, king John from robin hood. That's all I can think off right now.
