I had something remotely similar. We got an British cake with Donald. It was beautiful. It had a Phone booth, Flag etc. It was really nice

Thanks eddad. That DOES sound delightful. You don't happen to have a photo of it, do you? And it sounds like they're more than happy to do something beyond the traditional Tinkerbell or Cinderella.

I'm trying to complete my photo book from our July holiday celebration of my DGD 5th birthday. With all the help from here, I had ordered a beautiful birthday cake at GF. I'd like to caption what the CM said each time they brought out the birthday cake/birthday cupcake. Something like 'Every day is a celebration day here at WDW, but today is a special celebration...'

Does anyone know exactly what they say?

Thanks, Karen

I'm sorry. I don't have a picture. I wish I did. I called Pat at the GF and told her the cake was for a friend's 50th birthday. He liked Donald Duck and was from England and could she do something with that. It was an 8 inch cake with fondant. It was a pretty elaborate top and my friend actually boxed up the entire top and took it back to England. I think it was around 90$

I'm looking for a photo of the small pirate chest cake. We ordered one for DS5 b-day at CP for December trip. It cost $15.00 plus tax. Has anyone ordered this cake?

The break down is this, my daughter who is going to be 13 wants just a cake from Disney she loves all the cake shows and has ideas for her cake which I think are great. But I have seen some great cakes on here and some that are very so so. I want to have her cake at whispering canyon does anyone know what pastry chef that I would have to work with or if it is even possible to get one? When do I start the process? Is there one chef that someone loves and can recommend?:confused3

Start the process about 2 weeks out. Many people on this thread love the work of Chef Brian at the Contemporary, and he has made cakes for people to have delivered to Whispering Canyon before. To get the ball rolling, call the Contemporary and ask to be transferred to private dining. Then tell them you want to work with Chef Brian on a fancy, fondant-covered cake, and they will give you his email address. After you settle on the design, he will have you work with someone in Private Dining (or call the Cake Hotline—same difference) to order it and arrange to have it sent to Whispering Canyon.
:thumbsup2

If you are talking about the lady who works at 1900 Park Faire then I can quote you exactly what she says for every single celebration :

"Every day's a special day at Walt Disney World but today is extra special because it's _________'s birthday! Now on the count of three let's all say Happy Birthday to _______."

She has been yelling this across the restaurant for years.. LOL

Thanks so much! That sounds about right! I know it was said at most of the places that we ate and she got a cupcake. She might be shouting this to everyone, but my DGD thought she was pretty special!

Thanks again! Karen

Just wanted to share my DD's 13th birthday cake photos with you. I worked with Pat from GF on a Figment cake for my DD. My DD loves the Figment ride and I thought it would be unique to have her b-day cake with a Figment theme. I contacted Pat and talked to her about doing something with Figment and things from the ride. Pat suggested that we use Figment but instead of a "Journey through Figments Imagination" we would do a "Journey through Katherine's Imagination". She had me send her pictures of Katherine from baby to now and then some pictures of my car and her future High School logo. And it turned out AMAZING see for yourself:

So you can see that she made each of the pictures a "spark" and then added her driving a car and the put her High School logo on the front of the cake. There was some writing around the plate but I didn't get a good picture of it. Here is my DD with her cake:

The tiara she is wearing we got from the Disney Florist and gave it to her in the morning. That was another surprise that we had for her on the table at the princess breakfast in Epcot. It was an amazing day and Pat did a great job on the cake.

The Boardwalk Bakery did a wonderful job on my MIL's cake. It was beautiful and delicious. We ordered a 10" white cake/strawberry mousse filling with a handpainted, white chocolate, Cinderell topper. ($115).

We used the photo (2nd Cinderella Topper/blue fondant w/pink roses) from the link on page 1. Almost identical AND PERFECT!!

Do you mind sharing the final cost of the cake and also what size it is?

We're looking at a cake @ GF Cafe for DS for our December trip and your's is similar in style to what I had been thinking of.

Thanks!

Where can I have a two tier (9inch, 6 inch) cake made? I want to have the cake in my room for my tenth anniversary. The cake appears on the Post your Wedding Cake Thread, first post and is called Holly in the Snow. It is a Disney Fairytale Wedding design. I've checked with my resort and they say Boardwalk bakery doesn't do tiered cake??? We go in December. Any advice would be welcome.

I replied to your question on the wedding board, but here it is again just in case:

Your best bet is to book a meal at one of the Grand Floridian restaurants, then call Private Dining at the GF (407-824-2474) and explain that you want to order a custom cake for the meal. The GF Bakery originated that cake style, so you can tell the woman at PD the name or show her a pic and ask for a small cake that captures the essence of the design. :thumbsup2

Oh, and, yes, the Boardwalk Bakery *does* make tiered cakes—they make all the DFTW cakes for weddings held at Sea Breeze Point!

This was my DDs cake at California Grille this month. Brian is amazing and did a brilliant job. Copied from another cake from this thread that Brian had made.

Really pleased with the cake:thumbsup2

If I am not going to eat at a resturant where is the best place to get an 8 yr old boy a bday while out and about in the world.:)

Boardwalk Bakery is the only on-site bakery that will let you pick up a cake so it is likely your best bet. Give them 48 hours' notice. The cake chatter thread here is very helpful: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2413710 The cake hotline might be the best option to call, but I never have done it so not sure; I called BWI private dining when I ordered a cake there in the past (I don't have the phone number off-hand but it is on the allears.net page for BWI. Just ask to speak to private dining from the general switchboard number).

I believe some of the resort food courts (Pop, etc.) offer small birthday cakes in the fridge section. At least they used to...
