Question on the Glass Slipper Dessert. If I want to order it for my DD at 1900 PF do I have to order it through Pat or can I call the Cake Hotline (or will they just put me through to her)? I have had some difficulties with her this week on a cake I wanted and am looking for an easy option on this. Also, is it still only offered in white chocolate filled with whipped cream at GF? If so, can I request it without the cream (DD doesn't like it)? Any advice greatly appreciated.

You can call the regular Private Dining number (407-824-2474) — you don't have to call Pat directly. There should be no problem requesting it without the cream - the chefs will probably just fill it with more berries or something.

I called the cake hotline on Thursday afternoon and got a voicemail yesterday from Boardwalk Private Dining. When I called back, the woman I spoke with didn't see to know too much about the custom cake orders. She said the only cake flavors available are chocolate, vanilla and marble; the only fillings are vanilla, chocolate, dark or white chocolate mousse and a fruit mousse; and the only frostings are vanilla, chocolate, white or dark chocolate ganache or fondant. I asked about carrot cake and she said she didn't know. I asked whether the mousses had gelatin and she didn't know. I asked if it was possible to get another cake/filling flavor (I was hoping for carrot cake with cream cheese frosting or vanilla cake with cannoli cream) and she said she didn't know. I asked about Star Wars themed decorations and she said "which cake flavor do you want?" I told her I didn't want to pick flavors yet and could she tell me what types of Star Wars decorations they could do. She said "well, there's a guy with a sword. How about that?" I asked if she could email me some photos of different decoration options and she said "no" but I could email her photos of whatever I was looking for.

I'm starting to stress out a little about this. Has anyone spoken to anyone at Boardwalk Private Dining who was especially helpful? Or can give me some advice for how to go about this? I've never ordered a cake this way and I'd really like to see what I'm getting before I commit to it.

TIA!!!

I would call back and ask for the direct phone number or email address of the pastry chef. I don't know if the one I worked with is still there, but she gave me both her phone and email and we worked on a custom minicake re-creation of my wedding cake that turned out really nice.

HELP! I want to suprise my kids with Birthday cakes. I have twins who will be turning 8. Since they never agree:worried: we are eating dinner one night at BOG - my daughter's choice and the other at Cape May - my son's choice. I wanted to give them each a mini cake. That said I can't afford 4 cakes and I don't want one to be sitting there with nothing. So I was thinking maybe the slipper dessert or crown dessert? After looking it seems they are only offered at CRT? Is that correct? Any ideas on what I can do? (I already know I am going to get some looks for not having a mini cake for each child! :rolleyes1)

Should I call the cake hotline back (does anyone ever answer that phone or does it always go to voicemail?) or the Boardwalk Private Dining? The woman I spoke with at Boardwalk Private Dining yesterday said she was working again today until 3pm and I really don't want to talk to her again. I assume the pastry chef at the Boardwalk would be the one doing the cake, right? Maybe I'll just call the Boardwalk and see if they have the info. We leave early Saturday morning (9/19) so I definitely have to place the order by Friday.

Thanks for all your help!!!

I just wanted to post a picture of the cake we had made for my sons 5th birthday last November. I tried to post the pictures last year but it didn't really work out...this new Dis update makes posting pictures much easier:) It was made at the Contemporary for somewhere around $100. I can't remember exactly since it's been awhile...my son absolutely loved it! They did a fantastic job on it! We just wanted a Star Wars themed cake with fondant and this is what we got:

Any chance you could DM me a photo of your Star Wars cake? I'm having trouble viewing it in your post :(

Hi Everyone!

We're back from the World and I wanted to show you the Haunted Mansion themed wedding cake we had at California Grill Sept. 1. It was a 6-inch chocolate cake with white buttercream frosting . We were charged $44. Loved the decoration, but wished the purple had been a bit lighter as it was hard to tell the difference between the purple and black. Loved the "bride and groom" on top!

3.) Chewbacca Cake w/ fully painted White Chocolate Jedi Mickey from Contemporary Bakery - $134, Vanilla Cake w/ Peanut Butter mousse filing & vanilla buttercream - picked up at The Wave. Cake was ordered about 5 months out and I confirmed a few days prior!

Do you remember what size the Chewbacca cake was?

I am trying to fit somehting personal to my husband for our mini cake (10th anniversary) at Cali grill.
We honeymooned in Fiji, we like Star Wars and doctor who...idk.
I might consider a 6 inch cake since we will be taking it to share with our kids after but I don't want the cost to get too high.

Do you think the mini cake could have "I love you" and "I know" on the layers? Or would they have to write on the plate?
Anyone have another idea?

The crown may be available at BOG (call Contemporary private dining) and the slipper may be available at Cape May (call Yacht & Beach Club private dining). Just my two cents: I don't know how competitive your kids are (my husband's a twin, but he and his brother never had to have everything be exactly equal), but if each kid is getting his/her own special meal, it seems like there's no need to double up on the treats. The parents and the unbirthday kid could order dessert off the menu and the birthday kid gets the mini cake. Then the next night it's the other kid's turn to have a fuss made over him/her. They might actually enjoy the opportunity to celebrate individually for once...

They are the same. It is quicker to dial Private Dining Directly.

Those words might fit on the layers — only the pastry chef can tell you for sure.

Is there any way to get a cake during dinner at Trails End in Fort Wilderness?

Call Private Dining at Wilderness Lodge - see Post #2.

image.jpg image.jpg I wanted to thank everyone here...I got such great ideas for my 2 birthday cakes....the first was a haunted mansion cake served at the Cali Grill. It tasted even better than it looked. Second cake, served on an illuminations cruise. Worked with Yacht Club bakery. Everyone was easy to work with and thanks to the contact numbers posted here...I knew who to call for what. Only problem, I now want to have a birthday cake on all of my future Disney trips! Pictures here!image.jpgimage.jpgP

LOVE the skull border on the Haunted Mansion cake!!

Will be celebrating daughters 9th bday at Disney whilst staying at the AKL Jambo. She love zebra domes, any idea if they can do a bday cake flavored like a zebra dome? Thanks!

They've done it in the past, so I don't see why not!

I finally placed the order for DH's birthday cake. Thank you to everyone who pitched in with photos, suggestions and advice. I'm soooo excited! I don't know how I'm going to wait a whole week!

Last minute panic - I ordered a vanilla cake with cookies and cream filling and vanilla frosting (it's going to be tinted to match the decorations). Has anyone had the cookies and cream filling? DH loves dark chocolate and I figured that might be a more chocolatey option than the standard chocolate buttercream. Was that a good choice?

It's a good choice but it is not very chocolatey at all! Think of The Grey Stuff at Be Our Guest. If you want something REALLY chocolatey, call back and tell them to do chocolate ganache instead. :thumbsup2

Here's a pic of Cookies & Cream filling:

Darn! I never had the grey stuff but I was hoping it would be more like crushed oreos. Can they use the chocolate ganache as the filling? Any other suggestions for a chocolatey filling? How is the chocolate cake? We've had the vanilla cake and like it, but maybe I should switch to chocolate cake? Initiate panic mode! :scared:

I just sent an email to Chef Brian. I'm FINALLY ordering a cake for my son's first birthday at Whispering Canyon Cafe. I've been reading this thread for forever planning the perfect cake- it feels so weird to have finally sent that email. I emailed my request for a western, Mickey themed cake, bright colors with the number one somewhere on it. It's for 27 adults and 4 kids, but I told him I do not want a sheet cake. I'm hoping to just go with the 10" round per Lurkyloo's prior advise that a cake that size may be enough...especially since everyone will be so full from the all-you-can-eat skillets at WCC. They just need a taste, plus I'm sending them home with gift bags full of candy. Fingers crossed it'll work. This is the cake I really like and sent it with the email. We'll see.

The dark chocolate mousse filling is pretty chocolatey, almost like a dark fudge layer when we had it.
