Getting closer...and I'm getting SO nervous! Did I make the right ADRs? Will we have enough time in the parks? Will the crowds be bad? Will it be freezing cold (I've seen a lot of discussion about this in this thread)? How will our flights be (we've never flown Continental, and rarely change planes)? :scared1:

Ok, gotta breathe...still have 66 days...66!!! Holy cow!
LOL- i know the feeling! i still need to order my MVMCP tickets, the site kept crashing on me last week.

finally made my countdown calendar last night and even DH liked it. I heard him mentioning it to his mom on the phone last night. too cute! it isn't anything fancy, since I didn't have much time, but will do the trick.

I'm always thinking that. Now I am adding to the mix of maybe switching resorts at the end and doing the last 3 nights at AKL in a 1bd SV. UGHHH why do I do this to myself. Because if I do a split stay I am adding the delux dining plan which means I will be making more ADRs. What to do what to do.

I'm right there with you. I keep an eye on the ARD Cancellation thread and keep second guessing myself :surfweb: . I keep hearing about the construction going on and wonder if that will interfere with my vacation.

But where I got you beat... I bought this trip for myself and as a SURPRISE birthday gift for someone else who hasn't been before but keeps lamenting that she hasn't gone. So there's just a little bit of anxiety I gotta deal with.:eek::eek::eek:

Sounds like you have a bad case of "Holy Crap!". I had it a few weeks ago. The symptoms have subsided some, but I've taken to fitful sleeps now. It will get better I promise. You just have to do one thing: Breathe

Thanks! I feel better knowing I'm not alone :goodvibes I am going to try and relax.

We are flying Jet Blue out of Boston, but we are heading into Tampa because by the time I looked at flight prices I was not will to pay $1000 for the 3 of us. It was insane.
I am really hoping the weather isn't going to be too bad what are you packing? I was thinking a fleece would be good enough?

We are going out of manchester...found great prices on SW. Def. packing fleeces and sweatshirts. My good friend went down 2 yrs ago same week and told me to bring those thin cheap stretchy gloves. Said it was in the 40's at night and it was pretty cold. She said during the day shorts or capris. She said she was fine with fleece and sweatshirt, but her 6 y/o DD was cold and needed gloves and a hat.

I was talking with my mom today and she is coming down to Florida Dec 26 - Jan 2nd. She has a timeshare somewhere else in Orlando and they are doing IOA and Universal. She's coming down with my other family members. We are DVC members (home resort BLT) and I bought our tickets back in June. I got 2 RT tickets from Dallas to Orlando for like 590 bucks. Yeah, she just started looking TODAY for tickets. I couldn't help but laugh at her :lol. I simply told her, "Yeah good luck with that mom."

Hi, Thanks for your input! There would not be any drama about missing the holidays....my parents have 5 kids and 13 grandkids and they know we won't always be together. My sister was playing devil's advocate and it got me thinking:) We are both teachers, so we have only a few opportunities to go each year. Still thinking!

Last night we finally got our money stuff together we needed for buying the airline tickets. We were waiting for our vacation CD to mature, and it will just in time for the CC bill on the flights (and will be available for our final Disney payment:worship:) My DH will only fly non-stop, and the return flights were all booked for our original return date, so I called Disney, and we ADDED an EXTRA DAY to the end of our vacation  If he would fly connecting flights, it would have cost half as much, but he said he'd rather spend a night at All Stars with the Pop Warner kids than fly connecting, and since he OK'd it, and I demand to stay deluxe and Contemporary had a room, and we have the money, I guess in the end, it is a good thing.

Last time we were here, DS (then just 5) fell asleep on the bus on our way to DTD so we didn't get to go there, so I'm excited that we now have an extra day to play around with for those type of situations. :woohoo:

Ouch. Timing is everything with flights! The best deal I see now is going to cost your Mom almost twice what you paid. We are coming pre-Christmas and were able to book Jetblue direct from Austin for $596 total (including Taxes) for 3 roundtrip fares. The best deal I have ever gotten to Orlando was last year at the end of Sept. out of Dallas. FOUR roundtrip tixs for $550! Still bragging about that one!

I plan to only spend 1 day/night at DHS and take in the Osbourne Family Dancing Lights Spectacular :santa: , and my questions are...

How often do they cycle the display on a given night?

And

Do they use different musical accompanyment with the display on each cycle?

what does this mean cycle the display?

I have never been to Disney at Christmas and want to make certain we don't miss anything!

How many times they will show the display in a given night. I don't want to miss a thing. This and the Candlelight Processional are the highlights of my trip this year.

I'm confused....:confused3 I thought that the light display was just "on" and we would walk through and look at everything.....Am I totally missing something?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the light show usually starts around dusk (for example, 6pm or so). I thought each cycle was about 6 minutes long of music and lights, with each cycle being replayed about every 15 minutes.

The lights stay on all evening once they're lit. I believe that the music and "dancing" does cycle about every 15 minutes.

In 2006, the spectacle was enhanced to include choreographed "dancing" lights that swirl and soar to an exhilarating medley of holiday music every 15 minutes, thanks to electronic wizardry featuring more than 400 dimmers. Every building facade, all the trees, wreaths, bells and holiday figures dance to classic tunes among "Florida snow" flurries. Also bringing the Disney's Hollywood Studios backlot to life are three-dimensional and motion-based displays – some originally created at the Osborne home in Arkansas by businessman Jennings Osborne as a holiday display for the delight of his daughter.

from what I can remember of the Osborne Lights last year.. the lights are on constantly from dusk (around 6pm) .. there are a number of xmas songs played which the lights 'dance' to... I particularly remember "Hark hear the Bells" section.. it's amazing how the lights move!! :wizard:

some OL photos for you all!

Thanks for the pics! I can't wait for the Osborne lights! I'm so excited, I think this is one of my favorite parts of Xmas at Disney. Although I do miss the neighborhoods decorated and walking down the street seeing the penguins and snowmen in the "yards" of the houses! That was awesome!

some of you guys are getting great deals on flights! I checked for us and we would have had to drive 2 hours to atlanta to fly nonstop and it would cost us $900 for four round trip tickets. we can drive cheaper. It may take us 8 hours but still.

Airfare is one of the reasons we drive 17 hours to get to WDW. My fear of flying is actually #1 LOL. Airfare for our family of 5 is like $1500 give or take a few hundred depending on what airline. Thanks to my shopping addiction gas is free and so is out stop at cracker barrel. I got a great rate on our hotel for the trip down. Its so not worth it to us fly. Plus we love the drive, but then I think we are a little insane. LOL
