I know the decorations are not scheduled to come off until September, but I thought those that are going between now and the decorations coming down could give an update as they return. Let us know if nothing is happening, or when that giant mirror is finally gone, etc. Since we go at the end of September, it would be cool to know how much is being done as we prepare for our trip. So those of you who just got back, give us the scoop!

They are moving the crane they are using for the work into position on Aug 28 before the park opens.

just subscribing. We are going the end of October and I would love it for the crane to be gone by then. Not sure if I have any chance of that though. :confused3

subscribing... Going the end of Sept too! Like to know what will be going on with the castle. :listen:

Great idea! We'll also be there at the end of September. I'd be interested to know where things stand. Of course Disney being Disney, I have no doubt it will be handled with minimal impact on the guests. :sunny:

Since today is the 28th, I would love to hear from those coming back this week if it's there already. Good to know if they are on schedule...

They are in Castle Crane Aug 06

They moved the crane in beside the castle before the park opened this morning. I went over to take pictures to show everyone the castle is not blocked by the crane. You have to look really hard to see it is there.

No walls around the front of the castle. You can still walk through the castle. There is a wall around the crane at the back of the castle and the sidewalk is blocked off by the wishing well.

I would love to know how it's going too! But we won't be there until spring.

And by the way, safetymom, everytime that I see a post by you, my eyes zoom right to the part of your bio that says you live by the parks. Lucky, lucky lady!! I hope I'll be there someday too!! :sunny:

Thanks for the pics, safetymom!

I liked some of the gold, but it will be nice to have the classic castle back!

I wonder if the mirror will come down first or last?

Great thread, we go in Oct, and we are soooooo worried the cranes will ruin the castle and view.

On a side note if cinderellbration ends in sep, what replaces it ?

The new show will have Mickey and friends, as well as princesses.

all of the gold trim has been taken off of the back of the castle, the only stuff left is the front
Wow..that's fast. I can't wait for the mirror to go away. I LOVE the clock that it is covering, and I can't wait to have it back.

Pictures are in the album Castle Sep 2 06

They have started taking the decorations off the castle. The left side as you look at the castle has most of the decorations down. The right side still has some.

It really looks plain now.

Thanks for those! I've been so excited to get the original castle back, but it will definitely seem plain for a little while with nothing on it.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm so used to seeing it decorated, it'll seem a little empty at first! :)

Thanks for the pictures Safetymom! They've done a very good job of hiding the crane from the front! :thumbsup2

I will be happy to see that mirror go. :teeth:
