I'm going to try a Publix Decadant Cake this trip!
http://www.publix.com/food/catalog/ProductDetail.do?id=10057

I am ordering thru WeGoShop.com they gave me the number of the Publix Bakery they use...(I'm also getting water, gatorade, wine, beer, cereal, Hershey Kisses $50 worth of groceries!)

its $22 serves 8 - 10 4 layers chocolate chocolate cream, chocolate ganache...

I was so disappointed in the last 2 cakes we ordered from Disney...- and for the price of $100 so not worth it - I'll post back the flavors and cost....

That is what I should have done. Heck for the way my cake looked and tasted I should have just driven to Publix myself and bought one that had been sitting in their display case all day - would have been better than the $80+ thing that I had at AKV.

Has anyone had a cake delivered for an Illuminations Cruise? If so, can you tell me what your options were?

I have done this a few times...you go through private dining at Yacht Club. They can pretty much do anything you want...

I have done:

a castle shaped poundcake with fresh strawberries & whipped cream...eh, very dry

chocolate cake....chocolate ganche...it was ok

can't even remember the 3rd one...

I am pretty much over the whole Disney cake thing...I have ordered so many over the years...and truthfully, except for maybe one...they just aren't that great.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has seen or had a Mary Poppins cake made?
Thanks,
Kayla

I am so excited. I was able to order a vegan cake with fondant and the princesses for my dairy allergic daughter from BC private dining! In the past the cake hotline would only offer me the dreaded allergy cake. It's everything free including wheat which we don't need and they don't decorate it very nicely. My quote was $90 for a 10 in cake. I'll post photos next week. SO happy to finally have a nice cake for dd that I didn't ave to make!

That cake sounds great- I unfortunatley need gluten free, but we can have dairy and eggs. Glad to hear they are accomodating with the custom cakes.

Call the hotel private dining directly. The cake hotline only would offer the 'allergy cake' which is dairy, egg, wheat and nut free. Kinda crazy for them to go through all of those hopes when most people don't need All of that.

Thanks for your help! I knew someone would know where to call. We're celebrating my daughter's 14th birthday and I wanted to order her a cake. May depend on prices........but thanks for the info!

does anybody have any pics or ideas for a grand gathering cake? my family and i (total of 9 people) will be going down 11/26-12/05 and i wanted to surprise them at one of the restaurants with a cake.

The one thing to keep in mind....there's not a whole lot of room to display and serve the cake...and since it's outside at night you can't necessarily see fine detail. So in other words...I wouldn't spend a ton getting an elaborately decorated cake...maybe focus on flavor choices.

Hope that makes sense

What options you can get will vary depending on the restaurant you want to have the cake at. You also have about 10.5 months to decide on what type of cake and where. :cake:

Finally getting around to posting pictures of two cakes from our big May graduation trip. I took three of my high school theatre students for a huge celebration the day after they graduated from high school. We had a blast! There are pictures of two cakes here....

The first is a cake that was waiting for us (along with tuxedo strawberries and a white chocolate Mickey) upon our arrival in our room at the Boardwalk. This was a TOTAL surprise. The card said, "Happy Graduation from the staff of Disney's Boardwalk Inn." We were staying on the concierge floor and the staff knew we were celebrating three high school graduations, but I didn't set up the cake or other treats. I have no idea about the cost because I didn't order or pay for it. It was a chocolate cake with chocolate filling and icing. It was delicious! Very rich and moist and yummy! The kids were THRILLED and this was the perfect way to start our trip!

The second was a cake I had arranged for us to have on our Wishes cruise...but the cruise was rained out so they ended up giving us the cake to take back with us. (You can see the writing is a little smudged from a few stray rain drops.) It was sooooo gorgeous and cute. The pictures don't do it justice. I had arranged it with Grand Floridian private dining (Pat) and it turned out just like I requested. It was a white cake with vanilla custard and strawberries in the filling. Like the other, it was REALLY good. I know some people have said their cakes looked good but didn't taste good, but both of ours were YUMMY! The kids were really thrilled with this cake, especially with their names on the diplomas! Cost for this one was $120.

My DD will be celebrating her 13th B'day and she absolutely loves Minnie Mouse. Does anyone have any Minnie Mouse cake Pictures they can send me for ideas. We will be staying in BLT.

Has anyone ever done a Valentine's themed cake? DBF and I have Valentine's Day reservations at Narcoossee's and I was thinking of maybe doing a cake + slipper dessert. I know that is a lot of food, but the slipper is adorable, and I had ordered one for our Christmas trip that I ended up having to cancel. So now my attitude is that it's Valentine's Day--I'm going to have my slipper and eat cake too! Plus we can always eat the leftover cake for breakfast.

Any pics of Valentine's-esque cakes would be appreciated!

Do you like dogs? I think a Lady & the Tramp cake would be adorable for Valentine's day. It could say "That's Amore" and have them sharing the spaghetti out of the scene from the movie.

Maybe you could have them put the slipper on top of the cake. There are some really pretty pictures in this thread of Grand Floridian cakes that use the white chocolate slipper as a cake topper.

Does anyone know what the current process is for ordering one of the pirate or princess chest mini-cakes? Do we still need to call in advance to add it to our ADR or can they be requested at the podium?

We got a princess one last spring and at that time we had to call in advance. Just wanted to know if that's still the case. Thanks all!
