I just called the cake hotline.

For those looking to have a cake at CRT, let me say there's no choice at all.:sad2:

I asked for the mini-wedding cake & was told No, I then asked for a personalized cake either 6" or 8", but for the 6" was told No, the 8" was a possibility but with a princesses image it came down to 58$.
It's only the two of us, DD5 & me.

I had to go with the slipper dessert which is not a exactly a cake & they will write Happy Birthday (DD's name) on the plate. I asked for the white chocolate one & they said it's the only one they serve filled with chocolate mousse. The cost is 12.50$

I would have liked the mini-wedding cake or the mini-castle cake as they look more like a real birthday cake.:sad2: Furthermore she got a white chocolate slipper for Halloween last year (someone in our town was giving away those boxed slippers), so the Wow factor won't be there.:sad1:

I't s her actual birthday when we'll be at CRT & other restaurants like 1900 PF are planned for other days only. DD has never had a birthday without a cake until now, hopefully she won't notice the difference & just be so happy to be in Disney. :wizard:

I doubt she will. Like you said, she'll be at WDW in CRT. Enjoy! princess:

CakeManBri- Are you allowed to share the recipe for the chocolate mousse, peanutbutter mousse and/or the custard cake fillings? I have looked high and low for a recipe that aproximates the ones we have had from the GF and Cr- but mine are not even close.
Thank you for any help- and if you can't tell I COMPLETELY understand.

Just saw the menu for chartered cruises aboard the Grand Floridian's Grand 1 yacht, and there's an entire section on cakes.

While this info won't help out too much if you're curious about the prices of customized cakes, it's an interesting glimpse into the Grand Floridian's pricing of standard cakes:

Signature Cakes
Our Cakes are available in Chocolate or Vanilla

If you’re selecting a cake 10 inches or larger, it may be customized with Chocolate Buttercream, White Chocolate Buttercream or Whipped Cream Icing. A wide variety of fillings are available for these larger cakes including Buttercream, Chocolate Buttercream, White Chocolate Buttercream, Fruit Mousse or Custard with Strawberries.

Mickey Mouse Cake - Serves up to 12 guests $48.00

Small 6-Inch Cake - Serves up to four guests $21.00

Medium 8-Inch Cake - Serves up to eight guests $32.00

Large 10-Inch Cake - Serves up to 16 guests $45.00

Quarter Sheet Cake - Serves up to 20 guests $55.00

Half Sheet Cake - Serves up to 40 guests $80.00

Full Sheet Cake - Serves up to 80 guests $120.00

We will gladly personalize your cake with an inscription of your choice. We also offer a variety of cake toppers to complete your order.

Edited: Confirmed with Pat at the Grand Floridan that the Mickey Mouse Cake is the Mickey head-shaped cake, and it feeds up to 12 people, not two as the menu I found says....

The part that puzzles me is the $48 Mickey Head Cake that only feeds 2 people! :scared1: Reports on this thread suggest that the standard Mickey head cake (which people are usually charged about $45 for) could feed 5 or more people, so I'm wondering if the GF charges $48 for a teeny tiny "personal" Mickey Head Cake like the one they sell in the case at BoardWalk Bakery or if they just grossly underestimated the number of people a full-sized cake feeds... :confused3

I am wondering if it's a misprint. The rest of the list seems to be sorted by price in ascending order, so maybe they meant $4, but somehow typed $48:confused3

Wouldn't be the first (or last) Time that Disney's proofreaders were 'asleep at the wheel' :lmao:

Can anyone tell me the price of this cake?

I originally wanted to recreate our top layer of our disney wedding cake but they want $140 for it and there is just two of us which is alot of cake!

Thought this was smaller and looked good

Could it be that the Mickey Mouse cake (note it doesn't say Mickey HEAD, just Mickey MOUS) is a small cake akin to the personal-sized castle cake, but with the white chocolate Mickey statue as a topper? IIRC the Mickey is like a $35 upcharge in addition to the cost for the actual cake when you do a custom, so $48 would be about right for a small cake with that topper.

Hiya! :wave2:

The cake usually runs around $55, but the white chocolate topper is extra, and I'm not sure how much - hopefully not $35 like what Coleen27 described above!

Another idea is to talk to them about making a simpler version of the top of your wedding cake. Our anniversary re-creation would have been $55 cheaper without the fondant "handles" and custom topper. :thumbsup2

I think you may have something there! It didn't occur to me that maybe they don't mean the Mickey cake that's shaped like his head. See, this is why they need a website with pictures of their standard cakes! :cutie:

OK, because I am a nerd, I called the Grand Floridian about that "Mickey Mouse Cake." Both people I talked to were super friendly and helpful, and I learned that it is indeed the Mickey head-shaped cake, but they estimate it serves up to 12 people. So that must've been a typo in the menu.

Mystery solved! ...Now what will I do to pass the time on a Saturday afternoon? :rolleyes1

:flower3:Can Someone PLEASE track down a picture of the Mickey head shaped cake, it was all chocolate! Not fondant, more like a real cake!:flower3:

I have searched so many pages....and cannot find it and I really think it was HERE that I saw it....
THANKS!!!!! :grouphug:

Wanting a cake delivered to BW in Dec. Since they don't have their own restaurant do they just come from the Boardwalk bakery? How do I know what I can choose from? New to this. Thanks for the information.

Do you mean this one, which is apparently on Disney's website somewhere but I've never seen anyone get it...

Or this one, which is what most people mean when they talk about the "Mickey head cake"...

They're all in the Cake Gallery thread, here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2118274 :thumbsup2
The piped Mickey cake only comes from the Grand Floridian. All other Bakeries make it with a poured chocolate ganache and a choc mickey face!

I have ordered the Mickey Cake but plan on canceling it. We are not going until Oct and want something special. Staying at Kidani I was thinking of some chocolate strawberries for a start, but want something else with it. How much do the cake toppers run? Maybe the Mickey Minnie topper with 8 strawberries or maybe some chocolate girafe? Any ideas?
Lexi

Looking for ideas for my birthday in Jan. Plan on eating at GF what is in the shoe? Don't like cake. Would love to create. I would like a Minnie Mouse shoe stuffed with either Key lime pie or chocolate ice cream plus have a minnie cake topper and chocolate strabeeries. Is it possible?
Lexi

So Pat at the GF has mondays off so I htought I would ask you guys about my cake idea. I want to get a mini wedding type cake with chocolate cake with custard filling without any fruit with a vanilla buttercream frosting frosted flat with rainbow stripes airbushed on and one of those flat white chocolate character toppers of Figment. Maybe add in some of those cute mickey balloon candy pieces( the big ones) Does this sound do-able and how much would it cost? Thanks cake experts!!

I think they only do Cinderellas slipper and it's mousse filled. A topper with strawberries is possible but can be pretty expensive. Not sure about the pricing but I think tuxedo strawberries run about $5 each?

The mini wedding cakes are only 3" in diameter with 1.5" cake ontop of that I hate to burst your bubble but I don't think the cake is big enough to incorporate everything you want on it.
