LOVE this thread! This will be our 3rd year going to WDW and my 3rd year breastfeeding there

I also love baby carriers for being "discreet" and nursing on the go - here's one of my DS nursing in the Beco - actually, he was nursing in most of our photopass pics

Awww she is cute! How old is she here? They look so complicated to get on.... How is your back after wearing it awhile? What is the longest you wore it at WDW?

And ouch! That bruise looks painful!

they are not complicated at all, you put the sling on first then you put the baby in and it is pretty easy to do then you just adjust by tightening the fabric that goes through the rings one side tightens the top rail and the other the bottom. If you google Maya Ring sling they also have videos on how to use them. I wore it quite a bit at wdw, I kjnow I would have wore it for 4plus hour stretches, but I also had the stroller for other times. My back did not hurt as the way the sling works, the weight is equally distributed. I "wear" ( lol that term kills me) our baby at home (our little 10 ounder) almost all day everyday, or I could not get much done. the only thing you have to make sure is that the shoulder covering is adequate if you make your own, because if not that is where you will feel the pressure.

The bruise was very painful, I got that lovely piece of work, on the airport shuttle from the parking lot to the airport, they put the luggage up and and the double stroller up on the top rack and when the driver went around the corner it flew off. I was so thankful that I had turned sideways to adjust something on the baby (she was sitting face out on my lap)this way the stroller hit my arm and not our sweet babies face!! I still get a sick stomach thinking about that. If I hadn't turned that second our trip would have been ruined and who knows how our baby would have fared!!

For anyone wondering, ring slings are awesome!! I use these http://www.sleepingbaby.net/index.php ..she has great customer service and great prices..oh and they have the most comfortable shoulder!

Hi Ladies! I just had our second child, a little boy, and he is just the sweetest little guy ever. We are so in love! Our DD3 loves her baby brother as well and so he has two mommies DD was a great nurser but Jack is amazing! He had meconium so I wasn't able to nurse him until about an hour after he was born and he latched right away, perfectly! He was 7lbs 7oz at birth and now at 2 weeks, he's 8lbs 8oz! He's a hungry boy!! I feed on demand and just let him go until he lets me know he's full. I was certain that you can't overfeed a bf baby but since he gained weight so quickly, I double checked with the pedi and he said nope, can't overfeed. Listen to his cues and keep feeding as long as he wants it. I developed an infection last week which was painful but we nursed through it and the antibiotics have really helped. Looking forward to joining this discussion

Okay Ladies I need suggestions. We will be attending the MNSHP and I need a practical costume idea. In the past I have gone as a wench and was able to nurse a in it but it was not ideal and my babies were a little older and not nursing so much. This trip will be with an eight week old and she loves to nurse. Also if you look at my siggie I have eight kids so I'm hoping to avoid any midriff baring costumes (although my belly dances with very little effort). And I really don't want to break tradition and just wear a t-shirt.

I'm glad you posted that question! I'm going to the 10/24 party, and plan to dress as Minnie Mouse. I ordered yellow Mickey crocs off ebay, and the ears from disneyshopping.com, but couldn't see spending $80 on the dress. So I've been looking for a red polka dotted sundress, or a red polka dotted Tshirt. I hadn't even thought about nursing in a sundress! I think I'll stick with a tshirt!

finish your ATB... every single last pill. You don't want to get a second resistant germ from not completing the whole prescription. I am glad you feel better, and congrats on your little boy

My little guy eats on demand, too! He is 14 weeks and was weighed today at 16.7 lbs!!!

I thought you ladies might be interested in what happened to me at Epcot today. I went into the baby care center with dh and 3 of my kids. I wanted to feed our youngest and get our 2 yo's diaper changed. I got in and the attendant showed me where the nursing mother's room was. I said no, it's fine I'd rather sit with my family. She kept insisting that the nursing mothers room was right here. I said, "you mean I HAVE to go in there?" She mumbled something I couldn't understand but made it very clear that's where she wanted me to be. I said no that's ok, I'll just sit in here (the little play room). She was obviously not happy. Why should I have to leave my family to feed the baby? I just wanted to get out of the heat for a few minutes and the baby care center was right there. I called customer relations and let them know. I don't think she should be persuading people to sit in there if they obviously don't want to. Customer relations asked if it was crowded or people were around that would be uncomfortable - umm no and it doesn't matter anyway because the law says I can breastfeed. There was only one lady in the playroom and she didn't care one bit, she chatted away with my husband and with me while I nursed my son.

I just felt the need to vent this to someone because I was quite surprised a CM would do this. I am very discrete and have a nursing cover if needed. We are here at Disney for another week so hopefully I won't run into this again!

Um isn't the whole point of those centers for people to care for their kids, BFing included?! So if that made you uncomfortable, why would you go in there?! Glad you called about it though!

So looks like in March I will be a BFing mom at Disney! I did BF my first DS but nearly as long as I hoped (family emergency that required me spending lots of time with a sick family member ended up with me pumping more than anything else). This time around, I want to make it at least a year! But I am not overly comfy with it all. I mean in private, I am fine and I actually really enjoyed it, such a wonderful time to bond. But for the first 2 months or so I would always go up to my son's room to feed him. One night my DH offered to go get my Boppy so I could feed him on the couch and wouldn't have to move. He is the best that man of mine!

So I guess my whole point is I will be hanging out here looking for some courage I guess you could say. I will definitely be one to use wraps or blankets to cover up a bit but I just don't want to spend a year feeling held hostage to a bathroom or tucked away from civilization because my son needs to eat!!

That is ridiculous. I don't understand why anyone should feel uncomfortable with a nursing mother or why it would be anyone's concern. In my province it's legal for women to go topless which I think is nasty and I can understand that be offensive. I find it irritating that people can oggle over cleavage but put a baby there and it all of a sudden becomes an issue. It should be the other way around.
Hopefully you have no other negative encounters for the rest of your trip.
