Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread

Sorry, but I disagree with this 100%. Just because you can order a cake through in room dining does NOT mean that the cake is being produced at BC. It is not. I was told by a rep from BOTH the BC and BW during multiple conversations that BW Bakery makes the cakes for both the Epcot resorts and their restaurants. I choose to believe them.

As far as who to call, Disney is pushing the cakes hotline number for ordering for their own reasons. It's listed on the first page of the thread and there will be a prompt to order a cake at the right resort. Good luck, OP.

I don't know where they make the cakes myself, but thought I'd mention that from what I've read on here it appears Tink901's fiance is a chef at Yachtsman Steakhouse. Maybe, she knows something we don't. ;)

We'll be eating at CRT for my DD's 9th b-day! I want to do something special for her since we'll be eating in the castle! :woohoo: Any suggestions or things others have done in the past? She is really into princesses so this will be so wonderful for her! princess: Thanks!!

I would go for the mini castle cake, you can see a pic of it on the first page post number 10. It is $25 and it is adorable.

IS this a counter service or does it have a sit down? Was thinking if I could have a cake delivered there?

Tarheelmjfan you are correct my fiance' is the Chef of the Yachtsman Steakhouse. There is a Head Pastry Chef who oversees the Yacht and Beach Club and Boardwalk region. He does all the cakes and pastries for the Yacht and Beach club and conventions. The Boardwalk bakery does cakes for the Boardwalk. As a matter of fact the Head Pastry Chef will be making my wedding cake.

Jenjersnap sometimes you can be misinformed by a castmember who really doens't know but won't admit that, I've been there with some cast at the Beach Club. But since I'm there 6-8 times a year and my fiance' works there I know a bit more than most.

Have a great weekend!!

Whoa! Slow down! Shees! She was giving her experience with the cakes she has gotten. Maybe she has been told that the cakes come from the resort bakery or restaurant bakeries. Everyone has a different experience and from what a PP said she has a hubby who works there?

My very good friend is visiting in two weeks and her daughter is turning two. We are staying at the Yacht Club concierge. I want to get her the pink Minnie Mouse cake that another DIS-er posted for our dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse. This one or similar:

Who do you suggest I call? In room dining? Thanks!

According Tink901 who's fiance is a chef at the yachtsmen, she recommended in room dining. So I would go with her suggestion.

On a side note, do you know how much that cake costs? It is so adorable and we are celebrating my DD's birthday in August.

That was my DD's cake and it was $80, made by the GF bakery! :thumbsup2

There are 3 of us graduating (one college, two high school) staying at POR in August. We would like some ideas for cakes. Chip and Dale are the characters of choice. Any ideas would be awesome!

I've been looking at this forum for a few months. We leave on the 26th for a week vacation at DW. There are 9 of us. I am planning to surprise my mom with a cake at our GF Gala Feast halfway through our vacation.

I am interested in ordering the 10" chocolate cake, chocolate icing, and raspberry filling. From what the lady with the thick accent at GF said, it's only vanilla and chocolate. Then she informed me of the 12", but that's way too big, and we don't have a refrigerator at Pop. If we had leftovers that didn't have to be refrigerated, it'd be okay. But don't all fillings that aren't buttercream have to be refrigerated? My mom isn't a fan of buttercream.

I'm getting a little worried. I left a message for the ever-popular Linda. I'd rather go with the 10" cake, but I want choices! However, it's not worth it to have choices if I can't refrigerate the cake. See my dilemma? Please, over me some advice. (I am young, finishing up the school year with teaching, and planning a surprise party for my mom's BD for when we get back.... lol)

I was thinking about getting the slipper dessert delivered to me at either 1900 Park Fare or at the Afternoon Tea. Does anyone have recent photo? I have seen the ones with the slipper and the white filling and a small dark chocolate shape with chocolate mousse. Is is still done that way? Which meal do you think I should choose to have the special dessert served at?

TIA ,
Kim

Two questions....God, I hope I am not repeating something already asked.....does anyone know if you can get the 2-tier mini castle cake with a Minnie and Mickey topper instead (don't worry its for a GF restaurant!). Also, would they make strawberries with zebra stripes for a special order if you are eating at Boma? Thanks! This thread is awesome! Of course with all the complicated info, I will probably have to order my own birthday cake, I don't think my husband could handle it!:lmao:

That's the one we had at the Tea last September. It was really good. I'd probably have it at Tea, but either one would be good.

Has anyone ordered a 10 inch cake from Teppen Edo or Tutto Italia? If you have, do you happen to have any pics? My dad loves dessert, but especially cake and we will be celebrating a couple of birthdays while in Florida!
