Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread

As far as I know, cakes are only delivered to Deluxe resorts (those that do room service).

Yo can pick up a cake from MK bakery and from the BW bakery though. That might be your best bet if you are not doing a TS restaurant.

Sounds like agreat vacation plan!

Actually, you can have cakes delivered at the Mods too. (Not sure about the values.) We are staying at CBR, a mod, and I've already called the cake hotline and spoken with someone at CBR who indicated that yes, we can have a cake delivered to our room. The cake will be made at the Boardwalk Bakery and then delivered to the food & beverage department at CBR for delivery to our room.

Can you order a cake to be delievered to the room at the Beach Club?

I believe you can. I would call the cake hotline (number is on Page 1 of this thread) to verify with them. But my guess is that you can have one delivered and that it would come from the Boardwalk Bakery.

Can you use the hotline number if you want it to come to your room? I noticed it says "Table service restaurants".

Not sure if this was answered, but two answers is better than none. Yes, you can use the hotline for cakes delivered to your room. I had asked this same question right around the time the cake hotline was announced and wasn't able to get an answer here, so I called the cake hotline and asked. We are staying at CBR. When I called, I followed the prompts and left a message. Someone from CBR Food & Beverage called me back about 15-20 minutes later and told me that yes, they could have a cake delivered. The cake would be made at the Boardwalk Bakery and they would therefore need at least 48 hours notice for the order since it would not be made at the resort itself.

I just called the cake hotline to order our anniversary cake for dinner at Spoodles on the 27th. Not really happy with what I ended up with. Ever have one of those CM's that just isn't really helpful? Well, if so, I talked to that person today I guess. Now mind you, I went with a 10" to customize EVERYTHING (filling is what my family had beef with apparently) so I'm already buying more cake than we really need, thus, higher cost, but that was ok by me. But this just set me off. Here's an example:

Her: "What would you like the cake to say?"
Me: "How about... 11 Years of Magic" (she repeats that)
Her: "Ok, well how would you like to pay for this, it has to be paid for now"
Me: "Well, wait, is there any kind of design or character for the top of the cake?"
Her: "Oh I'm sure they can add some flowers or something"

OR SOMETHING?!?! I'm paying out the you-know-what to have a cake customized but I don't get to customize it? What are they smoking?!

I guess I'm calling back, but it's just irritating... expensive cake, more long distance calls...

Really.... I know this isn't just me. There isn't a one of us that would pay for a 10" cake and NOT KNOW EXACTLY what we're ordering! By the way... I also was told I had to pay for this, gave my credit card # and all, but I guess being told how much it will be isn't a privilege I have either!!! ARGH! I'm just getting furious at how quickly I was dealt with and dismissed!!! :furious:

LOVE this thread. I'm thinking about doing a cake for my DH's birthday @ SiFi so I'm subscribing. Thanks for the ideas :cheer2:

I am so sorry that you had such a horrible experience with them :sad1: . I hope that you get what you want.

I know that you have to have a cc to just secure that cake not to pre pay for it, you are supposed to pay for the cake the day you get the cake. I hope that they didn't charge you for it.

I am going to order a cake as a surprise for my DBF its both of our birthdays (he 30 and me 40) and our 3rd anniversary together (not married or engaged :sad1: ).

Update:

Ok, all is right with "the World" now. I called back and got a much friendlier CM who also was much more helpful. I just realized while on the phone with her this time that it was Private Dining, not the Boardwalk Bakery that I was speaking with. That just doesn't make sense to me. Like just now, she had to put me on hold so that she could call the bakery because she didn't have the answers I needed. Disney can sure make things more difficult than they need to be, but alas... I have the cake I want. In the end, I ordered:

For Spoodles:
10" vanilla cake
Custard w/strawberries for filling
White buttercream icing
Lady & the Tramp design
"11 Years of Magic" written on top

For O'hana:
10" vanilla cake
Fruit mousse for filling
White buttercream icing
White chocolate Tinkerbell topper w/ flowers
"Happy Birthday Loni" written on top

So glad I called back! But my advice is to know what you want & know if it's available at the place you are ordering it from.

Thank you. But yes, I had to PAY for the cake for Spoodles now. I double-checked on that the 2nd time I called back. It was $52.60 +tax. The one for O'hana was $65 +tax and I pay for it with our dinner, cc to secure only here.

I'd call back and talk to someone else. When I get a CM who treats me that way, I make a note of their name, say "never mind", hang up and call back to talk to someone else. If I'm treated badly enough, I'll complain. But you have every right to be specific about customization and you should certainly have been quoted a total cost. Some of those cakes can get really pricey with all the add-ons and you have a right to know in advance what you'll be charged. Good luck!

Goofy4Disney, is the price difference because of the Tinkerbell topper? We're ordering a cake for room delivery and I am considering a topper too, just trying to get a handle on the price.

For our first cake at Disney, I ordered a 10 inch and left the decoration to the decorators at BW Bakery. It was GORGEOUS. I understand wanting to know exactly what you are getting, but I wanted to reassure anyone out there who didn't want a specific character or ask for anything specific that Disney does a lovely job when allowed to use their own creative powers too. :-)

I thought it was time to mention this again since I haven't seen anyone post about it:

We learned the hard way - the cake boxes for the larger cakes do NOT fit in the small fridges. They first brought us a big box and it didn't fit, then they brought a smaller box (for an 8inch, I'm guessing) and it didn't fit either. So, our cake went bad before we ate it all. Just an FYI. I think I am gonna throw some narrow profile Tupperware into my luggage this time. No way am I letting that delish cake go to waste! :cool1:

The price for the cake at O'hana was $40, the Tink topper was $25. They also had Goofy for $25, or the castle for a whopping $100! Yikes!

I agree that the cakes Disney can come up with themselves are gorgeous, but if you're someone who can't quite chance it, then know ahead of time. For example, I knew Mickey topper wasn't available at O'hana, but I knew Goofy was, so I asked about what WAS available so that I wouldn't end up with "flowers or something". HA!!!!!! :lmao:

BTW, the picture of Lady & the Tramp was $10 on the cake for Spoodles.

Would love to see pics and hear how you liked this cake. We'll be there for a friend's birthday in October and I'm thinking about ordering almost the exact same cake -- except for the "Loni" part!

LOL I wouldn't dream of watching this thread for over a year and NOT posting pictures to share!!!! They'll be up ASAP!!

How big is the tiny Cinderella castle cake? Is it big enough for two adults and one child? It looks small. Is that available in dark chocolate? Thank you. I am thinking of ordering it for an anniversary.:goodvibes

It's a small, single serving cake but I have read of 2 people sharing... so long as you each really just wants one bite then you'll be fine; I'm going to order one for my DD to have while we're at afternoon tea at the GF. we will share but I am mostly doing it for the effect. It looks so beautiful and festive :wizard:

Also, from what i have read you can get it with chocolate icing, chocolate cake and dark chocolate mousse, rather than the white chocolate mouse, white icing/yellow cake combo. My daughter loves regular chocolate so that's the one I'll order... you can also get it in "cheesecake" supposedly...

ARE THERE ANY PICS OF THE MINI CASTLE CAKE IN THE REGULAR CHOCOLATE??

I was wondering, for the Spoodles cake, what exactly do you mean by Lady and the Tramp design? Is it one of the edible images and if so, how much extra was this?

Only asking because, I called and got one of those CM's and eventually got most of the info I needed except this. I ordered a 10" cake and she tld me a topper would be extra but she never mentioned the edible images, she just said that my other decorating options were girly, boyish, polynesian-ish (we are eating at kona!).

The Lady & the Tramp is one of those edible "pictures" screened onto the cake. That was my understanding anyway. It was $10 for that.

When I asked about a topper, and the 2nd (nicer) lady put me on hold while she called the Boardwalk Bakery. She came back and said that the only "toppers" they offered where the plastic toppers (I pictured little plastic figurines on a kid's cake from Wal-Mart). So I couldn't do a white-chocolate topper for our anniversary cake as I'd hoped, but at least I got one for our daughter at O'hana. That's ok, I'll be just as happy just to be there! We leave Saturday and I can't wait! :yay:

I've been on the phone with CM's for the last couple of hours. We are staying at the Contemporary in the middle of November. Our daughter will be turning "6" while we're there. She is wanting an Ariel cake and I remembered there were a couple of pictures here, but now I can't find them. I think Zurgswife had a beautiful one that she got at Contemporary. I called the resort twice today and was told they didn't do customized cakes, only the small 6" ones. Can I get an Ariel one like that delivered to the table or to the room? Also, what number do I call to order something like this?

Any other pictures of princess cakes would be appreciated too.
