Actually i have heard that that is the reason that they no longer deliver to other resorts, and why they don't allow pick ups. It was just getting to be too hard to handle and they decided to put the GF patrons (room and dining) first.

That is good to know. In 2004 after spending half the day on the phone with various people at the GF I was finally transferred to GF Private dining and I was suprised they took the orders back then for non GF guests (we were staying AKL at the time). I felt bad for the lady as I could tell she must get so many calls a day for cakes. I was pretty happy to actually speak to someone in the bakery too because she had a lot of options to offer me...basically she said whatever I wanted they could do!

How far in advance do you need to order your cake? My DH and I are celebrating our anniversary at Le Cellier and I would love to order a cake for that. Also my cousin and I are celebrating our birthdays at the Castle.(mine the 22nd hers the 16th and we will be at the Castle together on the 29th)

TIA
Debbie

I was told you need to order at least 2 days in advance of the event if you are having them make something speical for you (ie personalized). If you just want the generic cakes that are usually frozen then you can request them at the podiums when you arrive. I was told this by the WDW dine people and today by the GF private dining associate that answered the phone.

i I am going to call AKL in room dining and ask them about a Cheshire Cat cake for DH's actual bday when we are staying at AKL. Since it would be deliverd to the room, do i need to wait until i am ther to order it?
Sherrie

Let us know what you find out from AKL dining. I am thinking of having something sent to our room as well (maybe those strawberries with the Mickey if they do it!)

and only 12.50!!
I specifically told her I did NOT want the premade cake with the mickey on top. She told me they made their cakes fresh each AM and I could even send a pic of my hubby and they could put it on the cake. I am wondering if she was giving me correct info. Anyone else had this answer from Coral Reef??

The Coral Reef also told me about the cake but I opted for the Chocolate Wave for dessert for my DH birthday. On a side note make sure you ask for the diver to come down with a banner for your DH birthday. It was really cool and my DH and DD's loved it (it was all a surprise).

Here's pics of my cake from CRT that I had ordered specially from the info on this thread!!! It was beautiful and delicious!
I don't know if this was posted anywhere on this thread but don't forget when ordering that there is tax and 18% gratuity charged for cakes!!!!!!

Wow 18% - thanks for the heads up!

The Coral Reef must be doing something different than other restaurants. We had the 6" $12.50 cake for dh's birthday February of 2005 and it was awful! That's cool there's are made fresh!

That is a BEAUTIFUL cake!! DO you mind me asking the cost + the total with the tax??? Did you pre-pay for the cake?? :)

AKL when I called for our Honeymoon to find out what was availible incase I wanted to surprise him with something which I am they never mentioned the mickey in chocolate there. They do something different than GF obviously. They have a honeymoon package, a fruit and cheese thing, A sugar giraffe with some choco strawberries and a choco sign for AKL,I forgot what else, but I know it was only like 4 things maybe 5 offered, and the mickey was never mentioned as being one of them. :bride: :groom:

kjs1976 yum your cake looks spectacular. Thanks for sharing the pics!!

I have a few questions regarding this cake and hoping someone can offer some answers - TIA :thumbsup2

Does anyone have a picture of the inside of the mini cake?
What flavor options are there?
How does it taste? Was it good? or just alright?

Thanks so much.

I apologize if this has been asked before, but are there many of you that celebrate a birthday almost a month before or after the actual date?

Subscribing...

Zurgswife, thanks for all of your time and effort with this thread.

I will be there for Xmas this year and may order a special cake/dessert for my son on Xmas...we are getting married there on the 29th and this would be something special for my little man!

Thanks again zurg and all!

Here is my daughter's 10" birthday cake at 1900 Park Faire. It was $40 (minus 20% DDE discount plus 18% gratuity) and it was supposed to serve 16 people. That was probably a good estimate since 8 of us finished half of it. I planned for 12 people, but most of my sister's family had to go home early because my nephew was sick.

The cake was vanilla with buttercream frosting. The inside was a raspberry/whipped cream. It was *great*. I ordered it via the GF Bakery.

I got a birthday cake for my mom and I and we will be eating it 3.5 months after our birthdays (we share the same day). I did not have birthdays noted on our reservations and we are not getting birthday buttons anywhere. We are just have the birthday cake we never had in WDW(someone in the family forogot to order one for the actual day!!).

Has anyone had a good cake at Chef Mickey's? We're celebrating DS's 6th birthday in November, and would like to get a cake that at least tastes good!

Thanks!
Karen

Hi all, we are back and I have pictures of dh's b-day cake that I ordered for dinner at LTT. It was perfect and tasty too. The only thing was, they said that they could do a marble cake and what they gave me wasn't marble, but one layer vanilla, one chocolate and another vanilla layer. After we ate dinner we had fastpasses for SplMtn and LTT held the cake for us while we rode rides and then I picked it up on the way out. We ordered a Chip & Dale cake and the picture of Chip & Dale was a screen picture, so it was very visible. The lettering on the cake was a chocolate fudge! It was an 8" cake ($25) and the screening for the character was $8, but LTT only charged me $26 and change, so I guess they didn't charge for the character screening.

I tried to get a close up of the screening, hope you can all see it.
