for sure at some stage this would of been discussed here before

But why are we
Australia (huge country)
Land of the Free
Strong Dollar
One of the Only countries to get through the GFC relativly unscathed :confused3

relegated like some sort of second grade nobody country to a "Other Lands" sub forum ???????????????????????

the UK has their own stand alone Forum, in fact they have a number
and they are just a tiny little itsy bitsy bunch of country stealing warm beer drinking sycophants :rotfl2:

If you feel the same way then kindly register your feelings below :dance3:

now i dont know, being as new to dis forums as i am, if this is the kind of topic that is acceptable to discuss in the Australian forum, if it isnt (mods) then feel free to delete or move it pirate:

at any rate (mods) could you please make the super dooper mods in the super secret mods forum aware of our (my) dislike at being relegated to a sub forum instead of out on the front page where we belong ?

you could fit 20 or so UK's in Australia (maybe) :rotfl:

but whatever you do
dont ban me
we can work it out
its just a opinion :rolleyes1

While the UK is smaller land wise, their population is actually three times the size of the Australian population.

I think they have their own forum also as there are a lot of UK travellers to WDW having direct flight and also with the flight not being too long.

UK are also very very close to Disneyland Paris and many many British people travel there (there is a direct train from Central London, and other stops, direct do Disneyland, the station is right at the entrance to Disneyland Park). So I think that's why they have their own forum. They have many more people who travel to Disney in general, not just WDW or DL but Paris too.

Nice idea having our own area, an aussie trip report section would be nice. But I'm not bothered about being a sub heading under other lands :rotfl2: It was not long ago that we didn't even have an Aussie board at all. There are not many countries who have their own chat area, I think we are pretty lucky :rotfl: But hey, I wouldn't complain about being out in the main category section. :thumbsup2

Yep, I would definitely be happy to have more subforums in our forums! It would help with planning immensely eg New York, Washington, LA and ditto re the trip report section

Oh dear HappyFingers, you are getting a little carried away aren't you :lmao:

If only you realised what some people had to go through to even get us this little space, hidden amongst everything else. I think someone had to sell their child or something :rotfl:

Prior to this everything Aussie was being discussed in one monstrosity of a thread in the Disneyland forum. It was soooooooooo long, that if you wanted to find something that had been said previously you almost had to pack yourself a lunch before you sat at the computer :surfweb:

I shall join your cause HappyFingers, but I won't be selling my children. Perhaps you can suggest that they start a section called "All non-recession countries" and voila, it shall be all for us :lmao:

Good luck

xxx

Gosh I'm just a Kiwi tagging onto the Aussie sub-forum so doubt my opinion really counts :rotfl2: However, whilst there are hardly any Kiwis who visit WDW (lots do DL) and there certainly are more Aussies as proved by this sub-forum, there are heaps and heaps more Poms that visit WDW than all of us combined! They even have charter flights between the U.K. and Orlando and you only need to read Trip Advisor Orlando forum to get a sense out of how many Poms go there. So I can understand the DIS Boards reasoning on this one.

Happy Fingers - check out this thread, which is now on page 7 or 8 of the Aussie SubForum. We did think about trying to get this subforum separated out into sub-subforums.

I remember posting on the Technical forum for help.
I've also sent a PM to Moderators and WebMasters.
And then sent an email to the Webmaster email address that I found somewhere.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2413365

I have not heard back from anyone; aside from what a mod told me in the Tech forum.

I think the issue is economies of scale. If you have a look at the number of posts and views that the Aussie subforum collects and compare it to the rest of the other forums, you'll realise that we are not a very big % of the DisBoard. Land size has very little importance in the social ethernet world.

We don't even have a moderator permanantly assigned to our sub-forum. Whilst it would be nice to have a name against that box, in some respect not having a moderator constantly checking our posts gives us a little bit more freedom of speech.

I do know that the mods do come by from time to time and delete anything political, religious and bordering on providing financial advise.

And for the record - I'm happy to post a PTR, TR or anything else in any part of the DisBoard; not necessarily confined to the Aussie section....my post record demonstrates what a tart (I mean social butterfly) I am.

Now now...how can the rest of us tarts compete with one who ups her post numbers by playing games which require excessive posting? :lmao:

And if you still wish to contact the webmasters, I would like to request that you include a request to change the name of the Aussie sub-forum to include NZ; given how many NZ Dis-ers we have joining us Aussies. It's been a lot of fun with the Kiwis here :flower3:

Well, come on over and join us POSTer girls of the LASTing kind....or...
I've recently started a thread called Boo to Us on the WISH board; for anyone who wants to join about 4 or 5 of us in losing weight.

Oh, you are so sweet :cloud9: If so, I wonder what we should call ourselves? :confused3

Well, I first thought ANZAC....but then I didn't think that ANYONE else would find us (which may be a good thing :rotfl:).
Then I thought AUSTRALIA & NZ.....but that seemed so 'boring'. :confused3

I'm toying with 4 Islands....NZ has North, South and East island, right? That would make Australia the West island......:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

No problem

I love New Zealand (queenstown totally rocks, i would live there if i could afford it) :cool1:

would happily share a thread with the kiwis :grouphug:

I just feel a nation such as ours and New Zealand
a great nation/s

shouldnt be relegated to a "other lands" type situation :sad2:

i understand the numbers issue
but surely when you consider the way we blindly follow the USA into any war be it nessasary or not, that dis boards could recognise our loyalty to USA and its public relations issues by giving us a forum on the front page :cool2:

what about
"NEW AUSSIES" ?

:woohoo:

Happy Fingers, I like your humour I look forward to reading along on the next twelve months of our planning together.

How about adding the other lands Sub Forum section to your favourites bar, no need to scroll through all those other irrelevent threads, go straight to the best bit of DIS!:woohoo:

Hmmmm, how about the Kangakiwis...? Or maybe the Kiroos? :lmao: Or maybe not!

yup ill do that

its just a pride issue thats all :cool1:

and just for the record if youve never been to new zealand

GO

its awesome
very competavtive prices for holiday parks
heaps to do
and both islands are unique

Love the place
have a huge picture in my loungeroom of me standing on top of coronet peak with the incredible scenery behind me (beautiful crisp clear day)

on snow skis of course :woohoo:

Count me in, I think there seems to be more and more of us Aussies joining the Disboards everyday!

I'm quite happy with our little sub-forum :confused3. As someone else said, we haven't even had it for a year yet. I think it suits our needs just fine. Maybe that's just me though.
