Well I was pricing vacation just a bit ago. Might as well add my family to the August 2014 FUN!!!!:cool1: Woot there it is!!!:goodvibes

Hi everyone. Just checking in. Like so many of you, I was not at all happy with Jet Blue's prices. Jet Blue also got rid of the nonstop flight from our airport. Looks like I too will be waiting for SW. Not a huge fan of theirs. I don't like not having a seat assignment, but if it saves us hundreds of dollars then I'll deal. It's always during these cold, snowy months that I miss WDW the most.

I think the flight is the thing I am most worried about. I haven't flown since 2006, and it was with my family. For this trip, I am flying solo to Atlanta to meet up with a friend and then we'll drive down to WDW from there. I haven't had to deal with bag chargers before. Plus I have gained a little weight since I flew last, and am up to about 230. I am working on trying to lose weight before the trip, but am afraid I might have to buy a second seat (which was something else I didn't have to deal with the last time I flew).

My DH is 6' 3" and almost 300 pounds. A big guy all around. So far, no problem with him needing a second seat, so hopefully you will find the same :goodvibes . Which airline are you using?

The bag charges can be a real pain. That's one of the reasons we love JetBlue.....one free checked bag per person, each way :thumbsup2 . Combine that with the fact that we can pack relatively lightly (since there's laundry facilities in our villa) and we're good to go.

My DS's GF just bought her ticket yesterday for our trip.....she will be joining us on our August adventures (her first trip to Florida, ever). She paid $498.50 return :scared: :crazy2: . I thought ours were bad at $438 pp, but they have gone up even since we booked a couple of weeks ago. Crazy prices :crazy2: . I am still holding out hope for a price decrease sometime between now and our travel date that we can snag a credit to upgrade to Even More Space seating. I'll be watching! :coffee:

More than likely, it will be Delta. I'll fly out of DFW airport to Atlanta. Right now I can get a morning flight on Delta for $200, which is cheaper than the last time I checked. I would go ahead and buy it, but the DH and I haven't done our Christmas shopping yet. Actually I think it has gone down by at least $30 since I have been keeping track of it. If it goes back up a little, I'm ok with that since this will still be the cheapest WDW I have been on.

We got ours too!! We leave tomorrow for our Christmas trip and I was shocked to get August info ! I don't even have time to check it out. I'll keep you all posted on my magic band and fp+ experience. So far I love having my rides chosen ahead if time. It's easy to make changes too!

When in august is your trip? And did you pay off the trip? Now I'm getting excited to get one.

Now I'm getting really excited ours is the next week!! Oh what a nice Christmas present to get that in the mail.

Hello August vacation people! I like to vacation in FLA in August. Easy packing. No need for jackets or heavy clothes. You can swim at night without freezing when you get out. And, at least for our family, when the kids are not otherwise committed to school, sports, or camp.

So, thanks to the *** agency promotion, the rate I'm getting for the YC is better than a military rate, thus, we booked the YC for August 23 to 31. I wanted the BC, but my tween and teen thought the more "adult" looking YC was a better fit for us. They thought the BC would be too noisy. HA! And they are still kids!

And, since we are Universal fans too, the *** rate for the Portofino is pretty good, so August 19 to 23 is now booked there. I am hoping the USO AP rate is lower, but for now, the *** rate is much better than rack or AAA.

I too am waiting for SW to open their books for the end of August. Last year, I think it was in January. I don't know why each airline can choose when they want to open their books. I could use US Air, but I'd like to compare their rates with SW, as I usually book the cheapest, but with the times I want.

Glad to use the Disney military salute tickets again this year. It will save us money for tickets. I'll buy them in February. I have to give my ITT office lots of time to get them. Since we are not in FLA, 18 hours away or so, my ITT office refuses to stock them, but orders when enough people ask for them. I can get my Universal tickets for my kids (I have an AP) any time from the ITT office. Somehow they seem to have them in stock most of the time. :)

Since it is 21 degrees F right now, I am so thinking warm thoughts.:beach:
We are heading to the world aug 16-23 with the 1st two nights at universal then moving to the YC for the rest of the trip. Can you tell me what *** stands for, I thought I got a pretty good military rate for a garden view room and now wondering if I can do better?

Lynne G is currently enjoying Christmas in Orlando (if my date estimations are right) so I will chip in for her....

*** stands for Magical Vacations Travel :) . They have offered some deeply discounted Disney vacations lately, but I believe they don't have the option of adding the dining plan. You can stay at a deluxe resort, though, for less than the cost of a moderate. Travel dates are anytime between August 17th and September 2nd, 2014.

Aw, that stinks! :(

Which airport do you normally fly from?

We fly out of Rochester. I could fly out of Buffalo, but it is a much longer drive for us, and I'd have to pay for parking.

We just got our Mickey mail. I told my kids Mickey sent me a Christmas present. They're 10 and 12. They just sighed and roleed their eyes at me. :goodvibes
