We'll be staying at Shades of Green August 16-23rd for our first family trip to WDW! My husband and I went with his family back in 2005 (can't believe it's been nearly a decade!), so we're excited to experience it with our four kids this time!

The only thing i'm bothered by at this point is the fact that my friend didn't want to buy her park passes yet, so I couldn't make Fp+s for her and her daughter. She's not a "Disney regular" like me, so I wasn't able to convince her that we really might not be able to do all the rides together if she waits until arriving in the parks to book FP+s.

We traveled with friends once who didn't believe me - his brother had been to WDW the year before and told them all they needed to know. And they never had to worry about food. So ADRs were not important. Of course this was the first year with free dining - AND it included appys, dessert, and gratuity still. Eating was tough. Plus they didn't listen when we explained how the DDP worked - they ran out of credits half way through the trip b/c they kept using credits to buy their toddler full meals. They did not enjoy themselves and have vowed to never return to Disney.

My shaded are red, white and freckled. Freckled is preferable to the other two.

I would so make a LGMH if other people are too. I did a search and found an old thread with a template.

Good thinking digiMom. Thanks! I think they're fun and I will probably make myself one. Sadly, I've never seen anyone sporting a LGMH in DW.

I never knew to look for them - so may have noticed without paying attention. I'll also have a disboards shirt - I think hat'll be recognizable.

One of the best feelings in the world - just paid off our last payment to Disney!!

I have run into several Dis-ers in the past with my LGMH. I met three in one summer two years ago.

Neat! We've met ppl a couple times bc we arranged to meet - but never by accident.

54 days!!! Time to start obsessing over my Be Our Guest FP I guess.

Only starting to obsess now? I can't even make my FP+ selections yet and I'm obsessed about BoG already! Of course last trip waiting in line almost killed me I don't want to risk that again. (I was PG - it was hot, I was hungry)

Getting closer to my selection time. I can hardly wait!

My kids finish school next Friday and they're off until Sept.2nd. When do your kids go back to school if they finish in July?

Love that I'm getting info about the UK school schedule I didn't realize you were so far off of our dates. We're actually on the later side for the US. We start around the end of August/beginning of September.

Same. I'm back on September 2nd, Year 7 on 3rd, everyone on 4th.

Everyone at our school is back September 3rd, staff and students.

And the government always complains the summer holidays are too long!

What are your other breaks like? We have a week at christmas and 1 in April with a couple long weekends for other holidays. Honestly, I think it's dumb for us to have 2 full months off in summer. I spend the first month or 2 every year reteaching everything they forgot. I do love my summer, but it's the worst system for progress.

We start the school year early September, then have one week out late October/early November, 2 weeks for Christmas, one week mid/late February, 2 weeks at Easter, one week late May/early June, and then we finish for the summer mid/late July.

I would looooove that schedule. It makes so much more sense! They keep cramming in the testing like that's the solution to our problem. Why don't they ever listen to meeeeeee?

I've recently thought of the benefits of year round teaching- of course primarily is that I would love a Disney vacation in a comfortable weather, cheaper rates, low crowds opportunity!!!

Same here! We get 2 weeks in Dec and 3 days around Easter, but from Memorial Day to middle of August off. I'd love a year round schedule with shorter, more frequent breaks!

On a happier note, my August trip is 69 days away. 9 days until i book our FP+.

60 days today!!!!, yippeeeee!!!!!! I booked all our Fps last night!!! The one benefit of a 3 hour time difference! So excited! Got SDMT, A&E, and ETWB all on our first day there! So relieved!

Just a heads up.. There's a rumor in the restaurant forum that the BOG lunch FP is going to switch to email invite only starting the day of your checkin. Something else to keep our eyes one. Yesh!!

I am not sure if it is the whole month, but during my vacay Aug13-24 it changed.
They lost EMH on Sunday in MK and gained it on Saturdays. AK gained EMH on Sunday. It some ways it messes me up, but we gained a late night on our last full day. So Disney takes with one hand and gives with another I guess
