Official August 2009 thread!

I'm waiting to see what promo Disney comes out with.Free dining is great but I do get a bit stressed out with all the adr's.Anyone else?
Debbie

Heck no! That's one o my favorite parts of a Disney trip. I actually make a spread sheet that includes the days we are going, the crowd calendar (best and worse parks to go to that day, figure out how many days we will be going to parks (we love to enjoy the resort when possible). Once I have that figured out, I work out the dining. We're going in August during the possibility of free dining, so I figured out with and without free dining. I have my ICAL notify me the day before it's 90 days out. Next day I make my ressies and all is right with the world. We almost always stick with the plan so it works well with us. I love the planning part of the trip!

I love the plannig too.My family thinks I'm crazy.I feel like a slave to our dining ressies once they are made. It's so hard to change once your vacation is close.I had to cancel all our character meals because my DS was scared to death of all the characters.I guess I can make more than one ressie a day and cancel the one we don't want to eat at.Is that wrong to do? Did you make your own spreadsheet?

Hi Anna,

How early does that information (crowd levels by day) become available? Where do you get it from? Is it really accurate so far in advance (I'm assuming you get it more than 90 days out, so you can make your ADRs around it?)

I agree with you -- the planning is one of the best parts.

Hi everyone. I'd like to join your group, please! We've decided to go August 16-24, even though we were just there in January. We're staying in a Family Suite at ASMu, which is our new fave place to stay.

DH and I used to go every year around Labor Day, but we haven't been since the mid-90's. We love January/February timeframe, but with kids and school, we're going to try August this time. Any info you guys can share is SO appreciated - how's the crowds, heat, hours, anything else that's good to know?

An added bonus - it's my birthday the first day we're there, so I'll actually get the free admission and upgrade it to the multi-day ticket. Great deal. We're not fans of eating out every day, so I don't care about Free Dining, but I'd love a room discount to come out that will be better than our AAA 15% we have now.

Thanks all,
