Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Ran my first 5k last night (32.05) thought I was going to die at the end but surprisingly I am not sore this morning. I am in my early 30s and have arthritis in both knees so I won't be moving much faster than that. Hope I can make it through the half!!

Way to go that is faster than I'm running my 5K (I'm at about 11' 10"/mile) I just got back from 10K run I did 13' 15"/mile.

I plan on running 4 miles this evening. I'm trying to run 4-5 days a week until school starts back (I'm a teacher), then I'll probably go down to 3x a week with a long run on the weekend. It's hard juggling work and long runs.

I've been running about 3 days a week, but I'm a little nervous for when schools starts again as well (I'm a teacher also). I'm pretty wiped out at the end of the day . . . hopefully following this thread will keep me motivated.

Oh, and sending FB request now.

I only run three days a week plus long runs with my training plans (Hal Higdon). Sometimes I even live on the edge and skip cross training days.

Long run done! 4 miles in the books! Anyone else get their long run in today?

Did mine last Tuesday (5 miles) and will do another this coming Tuesday - hoping to increase to 5.5. Got 3 in yesterday and, if the weather cooperates, will do 3 tomorrow.

My whole problem is hills - I have a tough time with them, and it's hard to find a nice, long stretch without any hills in Pittsburgh ;). Been running trails, but they generally only go so far....

I wish I could "like" posts here. You're welcome everyone. Glad I could get this set up for our group.

Okay I guess I'm officially stupid now.

I just registered me AND a 5yo (He'll be 5.5 by the run) For the 5k. They don't sweep that "Race" right?

I've been following Disboards for years, but never joined until now. I am so excited to run the PHM in February!! My kids will be running the kids races on Saturday- one in the 1-3 group, one in the 4-6 group, and two will run the mile. Will we have time to watch the two little ones run their races and still be able to get the older kids over to the mile run?

No they don't sweep or no I'm not officially stupid. Because the second one it feels that way.

I think my 5yo is going to be-
can we ride malestrom?
can we ride SpaceShip Earth?
lets go get FP for Soarin.

But I know he can walk around EPCOT Center. And he has been listening to me train and I promised him last year when he was older he could do a 5k with me. Earlier today he saw some youTube RunDisney stuff and he wanted to do it. I only wish the Star Wars 5K wasn't sold out he would have died to do that one.

Looking ahead, how beneficial is it to stay on resort versus off resort. My hubby and kids are coming, but not running. I have reward points for off resort locations that would virtually make our stay free.
We visited disney 3 yrs ago and off resort was perfect. .. but unsure bc of the race...
Pros and cons?

I think it's huge, because you don't have to park your car at 3am. You can just take a bus from the resort to the start party.

I hear ya on the hills! I try to work them into my training plan though. A habit from running cross country in high school I guess.
