Official 2017 Star Wars - Light Side Half Marathon Weekend (Jan 12th - 15th, 2017)

DVC link did show up right at noon, it threw me off because previously I thought it showed up a bit early but the landing page it took you to wouldn't be live until right at noon.
.
I had the same issue. It has always been a few minutes early.

The 5K is off hold, 10K still on hold. Not sold out yet - but man, this is not what I expected for selling out patterns. Thought the Challenge would be the first thing to go since it's Star Wars.

Got in the queue to sign my daughter up for the 10k and somehow got her in at 9:28. Registrations are all complete! Don't have to try again next week. Yay!

Got myself in for the challenge and the 5k (Doing Dopey the week before so going for 11 medals in a week!). Had the form completely filled out for my 10-year-old daughter to do the 10k but when I went to pay, it returned an error page and now the event is on hold. I'll have to try again next week!

Brings back memories of when I signed up for the first Star Wars Half Marathon from my phone while my daughter played on the Honey, I Shrunk the Playground attraction at Disney Hollywood Studios a few years ago.

Awesome - did the Dopey, Castaway Challenge and Rebel Challenge earlier this year (couldn't get the Star Wars 5K in as we were returning that morning to Port Canaveral on Fantasy and racing to catch flights from MCO to SNA to make it before registration closed). We did run the Castaway 5K twice - first was the challenge run held at 7:30am on the island (two medals) and second was the standard race for non-challenge runners at 9:00am (one medal). 13 medals in 10 days - good luck on your January runs!!!

Husband and I are in for the 10K. Registered without problem and had no wait.

Lucky! I got shunted out twice, while registering DS for the 10K, and then it was on hold.

Same for my 12 year old son. Twice. It's like I clicked Refresh or Back. Just went back to the beginning, twice, and THEN showed on hold. So I get to do this for him at regular registration.

Did they change how you do registrations for other people? I vaguely remember reading something about a change but this is the first time in a while I tried to register 2 adults and didn't even realize that the only two options were to register myself, or someone under 18.

For the DVC members out there...save the rundisney page, that the DVC page takes you to, to your favorites. That way you don't have to worry about it next time.

Lucky! I'm not given a queue.

I swear I'd said that wasn't going to do this race again, but found out it was registration today, asked DH if he wanted to do it and he said yes, then DS said the same thing, so... And of course I decided to do the Challenge; if I can do Rock&Roll Challenges I can do disney ones. And this way I will get the C2C b/c I was already planning on the challenge for Princess.

Someone stop me now.

Well, stop me after I get my son in for the 10K.

Before I did my Challenge I went in and did the free trial for Active Advantage. Took $10 off my active fees at least. And if the timing works out it'll do the same for Princess.

Lucky! I got shunted out twice, while registering DS for the 10K, and then it was on hold.

I had two different computers on two different connections (one work internet, the other hotspot via phone). I worked in tandem and just filled it out at the same time. Added no special things to my registration and just tried to get through it as quickly as possible.

I did this for the AP page and trust me -- total life saver. At 1 minute before I just started clicking on both systems and got in.

@bumbershoot - I really hope you get your son registered next week. Sending lots of pixie dust to you!

PS: We run Rock n Roll and do the challenges and I love your logic. Just finished race 7 of 15 through RNR last weekend in San Diego. I must be crazy to go for Hall of Fame.

I'm all signed up for the Rebel Challenge. Can't wait to do my second DLR RunDisney event! Now, to break the news to the DH.

Wasn't able to get the 10K for my husband. Will try next week for that one.

You'll get him in for sure next week - just be ready to go at 9am PST and you'll be fine! Glad you were able to get the rest of the races you needed... I know it can seem panicky when things aren't working properly.

Of course, RnR challenges are a lot cheaper than Disney challenges...

I'm doing Seattle in 2 weekends and then I'll do the 10K/Half in Vancouver and get two extra medals for that combo. I wish the Half could could somehow also be the 8K, since they start concurrently in Seattle. And I wish Portland hadn't dropped off of RnR, or that I'd done it last year, because I fell in LOVE with that Cascadia medal...

Do you feel SD is good? My brother used to do SD RnR but then stopped because he felt it was being run poorly.

Hope it works for her DH and my son! I was on at that time; DS was the first I was registering, and I was doing the 10K first, and it just didn't work.

I purchased the tour pass for $500 and I've knocked the price down to less than $10 per race with the number of races being done this year. It's insane how much cheaper the RNR races are versus Disney and the quality of the medals as well.

I'll also be at Seattle and Vancouver with you doing the challenges. You'll also earn your World Rocker medal and double beat! Seattle is race 8 for me and Vancouver is lucky race 13. I'll hall of fame in Vegas - so ready to earn that gigantic medal :)

San Diego was a wonderful race but I didn't anticipate so many hills. At one point you went down this steep hill where you no longer saw the runners ahead of you. I had to walk awkwardly sideways down the hill so I didn't put strain on my knees - this race gave me more motivation to do hill training since most of the ones coming up in the back half of the year aren't flat. (If you want a flat course go to New Orleans. Everyone PR's!) But yes, an awesome race if you want a good time with beautiful weather. No complaints!

Oh I was panicking all right! LOL.... thanks again for the help! I am suoper excited !!! :dogdance::dogdance::dogdance:

I'm in for the Rebel Challenge! My first Disneyland race! I had the same issues with the link not showing up right at noon...kept trying and finally it popped up and I registered as fast as I could.

Just logged on half an hour ago (in Australia - noon ET was 2am here), and the kids races are already sold out? I thought from everything I had read that they didn't sell out quickly on pre-registration :(. Oh well, guess I will be getting up super early next week.

Seasoned runDisney Disneyland vets, what is the best place to stay for Disneyland races? This is my first west coast race, and being a Los Angeles native hotels at Disneyland are not on my radar. Any advice is appreciated!

Best hotel is disneyland hotel or paradise pier. Considering star wars goes the same direction as tinkerbell... I would guess the corral entry will be the same for star wars as tink. You could literally walk out the doors and walk to your corrals. I woke up at 4:30 and got dressed and out the door at 5:00 and in my corral at 5:15 with a bathroom stop.

Nonresort hotels i will defer to others

Is the half and rebel challenge still open? Just trying to judge how it will go next week. If it hasn't sold out, i would imagine it may be like disneyland half and dumbo where it does not sell out the first day. Thanks
