If you had your choice...AKL standard club level vs WL standard club level? We will be there mid December...I've got a conference that will leave my mom and DD at the resort for two half days. I'm thinking if we stay club level I will be more likely to do half/three quarter days...thoughts? AKL or WL? And yes, realizing that if I go this way a RO discount will be the thing to hope for...
I've "studied" both resorts and my preference is WL. They actually just revamped the Old Faithful Club and it has been receiving nice reviews. With WL being so close to MK and being "cheaper" than the monorail resorts, it was my first choice this year. When we go, we do 7 park days and 3 of those are always MK.

Oh!!! Really? I thought that it was only days you were there within the dates - back that truck up, we arrive on Sept 29th, so if FD continues even after the dates, then maybe we do qualify!

Yep, if you check in on the 29th, your trip is covered for free dining for up to 14 nights.

Interesting posts here tonight. For anyone changing to offsite, I would recommend looking into Windsor Hills. I've stayed there a few times and many friends have as well. Gated community about 7-10 minute drive from most parks (3 minutes to AK). Remember, with offsite rental properties, they are ALWAYS negotiable. :ssst:
What site do you use for Windsor Hills? I think I saw them on VRBO but can you negotiate prices there? Thanks!

ok so here's a few questions.

How many folks here tried to get FD last year when it was released and came up empty handed? Like were all resorts (not including the excluded ones) open for fd or was it only a few that worked?

Also just in case pop sells out I checked a few RO deals too and fd deals.

Only pop and all start music work better than my TA deal.
Anyone like music?

Can someone recap what is currently rumored and the legitimacy of the source? Have read several pages back and can't find it. Thanks so much!

there is probably the option to upgrade to standard,, likethe FD inthe values, many paid the upgrade to regular dining.
That's a very good point :)
I've been crunching numbers and I have found a few options :) I will have to subtract a day but that's okay

This did not come from me

"Here's updated info. Looks like free dining could be dropping on April 24. Minimum of 4 nights, maximum of 14, with park hopper and park hopper plus add on. Check in dates: 8/13-9/30, 11/14-11/20, 11/25-11/27, 12/3-12/23. It also appears that values AND moderates may get quick service, with regular dining only for deluxe resorts (I hope that is wrong). As always, information is fluid and more detail will hopefully come."

An extremely reliable source

Thanks so much! Fits within our plan just perfect!

if when FD drops it does not work for you remember there are other onsite options. This time last year based on blacks info I knew our check in date was blacked out for FD. I ended up booking with a TA that has exclusive deals with Disney. the package included a dining plan. the package was not as cheap as FD but much cheaper than booking with Disney and within the budget I had set.

So I have never had a FD plan before and have some questions. I am very excited to see that the FD rumor includes our check in date- hooray! We are booked in an AKL value suite right now. This room category can no longer be booked for our dates. Does that mean no FD for us? Trying to understand how this works. Thank you!

General rule. Do the math too. Do you NEED park hoppers, do you NEED all that food. How many in that room. FD is a better deal the more people included. Will you be forced for a river, garden, preferred room as maybe only these rooms have FD avail. If you booked a standard, no hopper already then really crunch the figures if upgrading to a different room / PH is more.

Ps for us. A family of 4 adults. It was worth it! At a moderate. Now this year IF we have to pay to upgrade to regular dining. Maybe not. Also FD for us meant gladfully booking expensive TS. Each day the OOP value was 200 plus. But with FD you still pay a 40 dollar ir so tip. These are additional costs FD doesnt cover. For our 8day trips that's 300 in tips. QS plans save you that. Good to know for those crunching numbers by the dollar

Yes. Read my post above. FD is only on those rooms with availabnity for that offer. All room types are limited. If standard is simd out. You need to find a room type with that deal. A lot book a standard a year before and hope for FDing but are only hurting their chances. Disney only gives offers on rooms they need to sell. Check a week or so later afternFDndrops. Alot cancel these bookings.
