Curious if/when FD is announced do the dates historically run just through the end of the current year, or do they wrap around to at least January of the following? We were hoping for a December trip this year, but it may end up being January instead.

always end with December. January package deals are usually for Play/Stay/Dine

Thoughts on Tusker House or Boma???

I've never eaten at either but can't decide between the two. Has anyone eaten at both? Tusker is a character meal but the food options at Boma looked a bit better? Thoughts?

We have had the breakfast buffet at Tusker. We really enjoyed it and hope to go in December.

I'm thinking for me and my sister, the restaurants will be an attraction themselves! I've been messing with touringplans and it seems it will be empty enough that we can easily hit everything we want while still having big breaks for meals, relaxing, etc. I'm also going to load up the morning (especially outdoor things), partially because I know the lines will be longer, but also in case there is an afternoon rainstorm that may cause us to seek shelter!

We feel the same but we are going for ten days. That makes a lot of difference. If I only had 4-5 I would probably just do quick service or the quicker TS. When are you going and for how long?

IMO, it sounds like way too much food. But, then my Dad actually once yelled at me in AK asking if I was ever going to let him eat!! The heat + so much to see/do = zero appetite for me. Sounds like a fun day, though!!

It's a good day to splurge with those Deluxe Dining plan credits!!!

I've been trying to think of an example of a quick TS. I can't really think of one. The problem is we always seem to wait 15-20 minutes past our ADR before being called in, so that can be a real time sucker.

New to this site, I heard there is speculation of a 4/17 free dining announcement. I will be out of the country that week . Is there any confirmation on this thread ahead of time or is it all just a guessing game??
My friend's TA told her not to expect an announcement til summer but that sounds ridiculously late!

Right, so I will need to crunch the numbers, as to if it will be worth it, purchasing tickets we will be unlikely to use again (this is a one and done). That said, we have 7 day tickets, and are there for 10 days, so maybe we will use the 2 day ones for a short visit on a couple of days! Thanks for that information, and grrrr to my TA for having already purchased our tickets. - I always knew that I should have done the planning for this myself! She obviously knows nothing

If your TA has booked you a PACKAGE at Disney (resort + tickets), then you won't have to buy more tickets. If your tickets are not park hopper, you may have to add that option to what you have, but we won't know what they require until Disney tells us.

If your TA has booked you a ROOM ONLY and purchased tickets from someone other than Disney, then you need to do some math. The price of a 2-day, park hopper ticket is just over $200. You can add a day to your current tickets for around $11 if you want to add some days to it.

I think your friend needs a new TA. The FD announcement (if there is one) will come before summer.

There will be confirmation here on this thread when they know something. I wouldn't fret over being out of the country if it does come on 4/17. There should still be some options a few weeks after that (not too many, but two or three at least).

YMMV - I just thought of places where the food comes out in a fairly normal way like if you went to a chilis and isn't an experience that is dragged out or your waiting on characters. Also, any restaurant with a view even if you don't care about the view seems to take longer to get seated. You have the lingerers trying to wait it out. Lol.
