"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

Now that's my kind of dream! It's sounding like this year there are less characters than usual so I'd love to have as many characters in your dream just to spread out us Character Hunters. LOL

With no Villians Dance Party this year, I should probably quit rehearsing the thriller dance zombie moves. It's been creeping my DD15 out anyway - she said I was embarassing her and it was just the 2 of us in the house at the time. :rotfl:

Embarrassing a teenager is the only revenge we have to combat the Snark-ness Monster. :)

If anyone is interested I just cancelled the Dessert Party for Oct 29 for 7 people. It was sold out so there should be openings now unless already taken.

I'm not sure if you already considered this, but personally I would wait to ride Haunted Mansion until the party has officially started. It's so much more fun with the photopass magic shots, Madame Carlotta, and just overall feel. We rode last year probably around 7:15 and there was basically no wait.

That's a really good point! I think I will change it and plan to get in line around 6:45. I was thinking the line will be insane but maybe not so early.

The lines for HM during parties aren't so bad. Since FP+ isn't operational during the parties, the line moves constantly. Even a line out to the entrance should have you in the elevator within 20 minutes, and with the ghosts there to heckle...I mean ENTERTAIN...you, it's well worth the wait.

With FP+s for rides ending at 6:30, I predict a near walk-on at 6:45.

I picked it up earlier. I wondered where 7 openings came from! We're a party of 7 so I couldn't believe it was there. Pretty sure I'm not going to keep it though. It looks like it's too much of a time sink. But I'm still worried about the crowds so close to Halloween so I haven't totally decided.

Haunted Mansion is definitely enhanced and more fun after the party starts and even better after dark. They have special colored flood lights, Madame Carlotta out front taunting people in line, the special photos and the cast members have makeup on to make them even more scary!

I dunno if this has been addressed so please forgive me for not to digging through 97 pages. Is memory maker a good idea for MNSSHP? Thanks

That depends on how many photos you get at the party. I think the last time I did the math it was something like 14 individual photos was the same price as MM, which gives you unlimited. We always buy it, and think it's great! At last year's MNSSHP there was an option to purchase it for a cheaper price just for the party, but that hasn't been announced this year yet.

If you are only doing the party, hold off until they announce if the one day memory maker will be an option this year. It was available last year for MNSSHP, and the most recent MNSSHP related blog post said to keep an eye out for more info.

That's why we dropped it. I would rather watch the late parade and hit the rides during the first parade so for us it wasn't worth it just for the desserts.

Even if you ride the Haunted Mansion before the party starts and before dark, you definitely want to go back to that area later just for the atmosphere. The lighting in the area is great and Madame Carlotta and Madame Renatta (they take turns) are hilarious. DD was obsessed with Madame Carlotta last year, so we stood there and listened to her and talked to her for quite a while. She is a great storyteller. Also, somewhere near the Haunted Mansion will be a magic photopass shot, where the hitchhiking ghosts appear when you pull up your picture- I can't tell you exactly where the spot is because the last 2 years it has been in a different place each year. Also, the ghost carriage in front of the Mansion has a magic shot. It isn't as important to actually ride HM during the party-it is fun- but the atmosphere in that area after the party starts is a must do as far as we are concerned.

Treat bags: are the bags provided nice? Are they good to take home for a souvenir? I've heard people say bring one since they are small. How small? I'm not too worried about candy just so our 4yo can trick or treat.
Thanks guys!

I would say only good for a souvenir if you want to scrapbook them. They are plastic material bags, usually with a picture of Disney's latest movie coming out. They are somewhat small, they've always held more than enough candy for me, but I've heard of people wanting more. I think for a 4 year old they will definitely be big enough. If not, ask for a couple extra bags when your there.

Could anyone please tell me if the pumpkin carriage was there last year and where to find it? Thanks

They took it away 3 years ago. :-(

That was one of my favorite photos ever. I was terribly disappointed.

I think this really depends on the kid. For years, our DD preferred seeing the characters over the rides, and she was willing to wait in whatever line it took. I distinctly remember one MK day, where I think we went from character to character the entire day and rode 2 rides. DD said it was the Best. Day. Ever. in MK (DH and I did not exactly feel the same, but she was so happy!). For her, MNSSHP has always been about the characters. She could care less about the trick or treating- and might run through a couple of empty trick or treat lines at the end of the night. We hardly ever ride rides during MNSSHP. For us the party is about characters, parade, castle show, haunted mansion area, special photo shots and dance parties. Unfortunately, it seems like this year the primary dance party is not going to take place, and the characters are being reduced.

Good points. It will help with planning the party night getting more options and opinions on things.

Are they small, small like sandwich bag size or more like a gallon freezer bag? Do they have a handle? Just trying to get a clear picture. Not sure I even want any candy, but you just never know.
