"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

Has anyone ever brought in a foam prop on MNSSHP? I'm tempted to make a giant (and obviously fake) shuriken out of insulation foam for my costume. I have experience working with it in the past and I'd love to do it again. Maybe even make it easy to disassemble and put in a bag for rides. Or is this something I should just save for a convention, and not Disney?

I've never seen Hocus Pocus. If anyone sees that it's coming on sometime (although I have a feeling that I'll have to wait until October..) please post here!

What other movies would be good choices to watch before the party?
Toy Story of Terror

The haunted mansion stuff is actually seperate theres a store that sells the themed stuff, and you can get it in the Emporium or World of Disney as well.
MNSHHP itself has pins, t-shirts, and I think a few other goodies. But the later you go the more chance it won't be there. When i went on Halloween things were pretty much gone, when i went early in the year in early october i lucked out and got a pin i wanted, but the LE ones were gone already they said.
That's one of my pet peeves about LE party items - they should only sell a set amount per party, so that people going to the later ones have a fair shot at buying it. Especially since they tend to charge more for the later parties!

Are you looking for movies represented at the party? If so, Princess and the Frog, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, 101 Dalmatians, Meet the Robinsons, Hocus Pocus, Sleeping Beauty, Nightmare Before Christmas, Peter Pan, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pinocchio, and I'm probably missing some others.

when you buy tickets, it looks like you can print at home, will call, or have them shipped... My question is do all of these options link to MDE and when you show up do they scan your magic band or take your hard ticket? And last year I heard they had problems taking admissions days from your multi pass if you scanned your band to get into the party? We will already be spending the day in MK and staying for the party.

If they let you in before 4 it will probably take off from the multi day pass, but if it's after 4pm, it should default to the party ticket.

I brought a 4 foot broom last year and had no problems on rides though I don't really go for the fast rollercoaster ones, someone last year said they brought a halberd so it probly is up to the cm if they think its too much, but since you say it can break down that may make it worth trying.

wooo hooo. Giant shuriken! What costume are you planning?

Yuffie Kisaragi. I planned this before the announcement about Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII, I swear.

Ah, in that case, it sounds like something that may be alright, then. Thanks.

And I believe you! I have an infinite list of cosplay...

I’d caution that a broom and a shuriken are 2 different things, depending on how realistic-looking this shuriken is. If it appears to be too sharp, it could raise a red flag to some people. Also, you don’t want the foam to break easily so you’d need to reinforce it which would make the foam not as “harmless”. I’m guessing it would depend on the Cast Member.

How are you going to dissemble it, into 2 pieces, 4 pieces?

The conformer would be the least dangerous looking shuriken (bright yellow and red) but seems like quite a hassle to figure out how to make and disassemble easily. Maybe her original weapon, the four-pronged one and four pieces? I can reinforce it cheesecloth. As long as a kid doesn't punch it at the ends, it should be alright.

Or...I could scrap it and just carry around a keyblade. I mean, there has to be some good places to get pictures with a Keyblade at Disney World, right?!

what i did with my broom was to use an open shaft and dowels so i could break it down in my luggage, which must have looked quite interesting because it got checked both ways. But yea the keyblade would be awesome as well!

I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned somewhere here, but do Disney VISA card holders get a discount on tickets? Thanks!

Trying to get a sense of when I need to grab a spot for the fireworks. This is our first (and likely only) Halloween party and I want to have a decent view for the fireworks but don't want to spend the party sitting to have a good spot. We are going on Halloween itself. TIA.

It depends on what you want. We've watched from the top of the train station. In pictures, the castle looks really small from there, but there wasn't much crowd up there. My favorite spots are in Fantasyland. Between where Dumbo use to be and the Pinocchio Haus, you are surrounded by fireworks on all sides. Typically the area starts out uncrowded, but as people walk by and realize you get a decent view, the area is filled and bottlenecked by the end of Hallowishes.

Thanks much. My understanding is that there is a show on the castle pre-fireworks that is similar to what they have during Wishes -- can you see that from Fantasyland (I would think not unless).
